Fight of the Night: Chris Duncan def. Mateusz Rebecki
Chris Duncan (14-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) and Mateusz Rebecki (20-3 MMA, 4-2 UFC) put on an absolute banger in the co-main event. The lightweights had a tough act to follow right after Esteban Ribovics vs. Elves Brener, and somehow did so with a Fight of the Year candidate. Rebecki was about a 2-1 favorite in the fight, but left disappointed. Both fighters left the cage a bloody mess and had to be transported to an area hospital following the bout.

In a strikers' delight lightweight slugfest, Esteban Ribovics (15-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) and Elves Brener (16-6 MMA, 3-3 UFC) somehow each landed 123 total strikes. But where Brener tried to make a difference was in takedowns – and Ribovics stuffed all nine of them in a highly entertaining scrap.

Rodolfo Vieira credits Fighting Nerds camp for UFC on ESPN 71 win, plans to return
LAS VEGAS – Rodolfo Vieira met the media Saturday after his unanimous decision win over Tresean Gore at UFC on ESPN 71. Vieira (11-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) outworked Gore (6-4 MMA, 2-4 UFC) over 15 minutes at the UFC Apex and took home a pair of 30-27 scorecards to get back in the win column. It was a new feeling for the Brazilian. Before his win over Gore, he never had gotten his hand raised if he had to go the distance. Vieira said his training camp away from Orlando, Fla., with the Fighting Nerds team in Brazil had much to do with his mentality going into the fight. 'I didn't think the fight would be so tough, but I was ready for everything,' Vieira told MMA Junkie at his post-fight news conference. 'Of course, I was looking for a finish using my jiu-jitsu. I did my camp at Fighting Nerds in Brazil and I was feeling a huge difference. That was the first time I went there. … Now, I think I'm much better than the last fight. I'm more confident. I'm still improving.' Vieira said even though the training camps in Brazil will be hard when he has to be away from his wife and son, he thinks the payoff will be worth it. After back-to-back bonus-winning arm-triangle choke submission wins at middleweight over stern tests in Cody Brundage and Armen Petrosyan, Vieira slipped up against Andre Petroski in February and lost a decision. That helped prompt the Fighting Nerds move. 'The best thing I could do in my life is train with the Fighting Nerds guys. I don't (tell people) to go to any gym (in particular). But you have to find a gym where you have a good relationship with the coaches and the athletes, and I found that there,' Vieira said. Lerone Murphy vs. Aaron Pico: Odds and what to know ahead of UFC 319 co-main event
Aaron Pico will still get a big opportunity in his promotional debut at UFC 319. Lerone Murphy vs. Aaron Pico preview Pico (13-4 MMA, 0-0 UFC) originally was scheduled to make his octagon debut against No. 1-ranked featherweight Movsar Evloev at UFC on ABC 9 in Abu Dhabi, but the bout was scrapped when Evloev withdrew. Karol Rosa wants former title challenger Mayra Bueno Silva after UFC on ESPN 71
LAS VEGAS – Karol Rosa met the media Saturday after her win over Nora Cornolle at UFC on ESPN 71. Rosa (19-7 MMA, 8-4 UFC) got some resistance in the first round from Cornolle (9-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) at the UFC Apex. But in the second, Rosa turned on the afterburners and dominated Cornolle for a 10-8 round from two of the judges. After that, she cruised back into the win column. Rosa won her first four fights in the UFC, but since then has alternated losses and wins for eight bouts. Perhaps even more amazingly, her fight with Cornolle was her 12th straight trip to the judges' scorecards. Afterward, she called out a fellow Brazilian: former title challenger Mayra Bueno Silva. Silva lost a women's bantamweight title shot against then-champ Raquel Pennington in early 2024, which started her current three-fight skid. She was set to fight Joselyne Edwards this week at UFC on ESPN 72, but pulled out. Still, Rosa wanted to shoot her shot since Bueno Silva is above her in the rankings.
