M6 closure as emergency services called to crash
National Highways said the lorry had hit the central reservation barrier on the northbound carriageway at around 07:45 GMT on Saturday.
The M6 northbound is now closed from Junction 10 to Junction 10A of the M54, with one lane southbound also closed due to central barrier damage.
Traffic monitoring group West Midlands Roads said on X that the lorry had jack-knifed and there was debris at the scene.
A statement from the group said: "Congestion approaching closure. Expect additional traffic on A454 Black Country Route as traffic diverts."
National Highways said a lamppost from within the central reservation had been torn down in the collision and there was a substantial oil spillage, adding its crews were working to treat the spillage.
West Midlands Fire Service is in attendance, alongside police and paramedics.
Transport analytics company Inrix said there were long delays from J10 A454 Black Country Route (Wolverhampton / Walsall) to J10A M54 J10A, due to the jack-knifed lorry.
It added that there was congestion to J8 of the M6 (Rayhall and M5 Interchange).
A diversion is in place, with Inrix saying: "From J10 use the A454 towards Wolverhampton - A4150 Wolverhampton Ring Road - A449 Stafford Road for J2 M54 and then A5 Watling Street for J12 M6."

Busiest roads during August bank holiday, according to the experts
The RAC has issued a warning to motorists ahead of the final bank holiday of the summer. Drivers have been warned to prepare for long delays as millions of people pile into their cars this August bank holiday weekend. The RAC has issued an alert to those motorists planning to join the great bank holiday getaway this weekend. It said a total of 17.6 million getaway trips will be made by car between Friday and bank holiday Monday, leading to traffic disruption at peak times. It warned drivers to set off as early as possible and identified the roads which are expected to be the worst affected. About 2,000 UK adults were surveyed by the RAC to get a picture of planned journeys this weekend, while transport analytics company Inrix predicted which roads would be busiest and at what times. RAC mobile servicing and repairs team leader Nick Mullender said: 'With this bank holiday being the last opportunity to enjoy a long weekend before Christmas, our study shows a real eagerness to get out and about with nearly 18 million drivers planning getaway trips. 'More traffic on the roads will inevitably lead to more vehicle breakdowns, especially if the sun makes an appearance and people decide on the day to visit popular destinations. 'We're expecting major roads to airports and coastal destinations to be extremely busy, especially the south east and south west regions, which could end up bearing the brunt of most holiday hold-ups." How many journeys will be made? The South East and South West are expected to see some of the worst traffic over the weekend, the RAC said. About three million journeys will be made on Friday, and then 3.4 million more on Saturday, followed by 2.4 million on Sunday and 2.7 million on Monday. But the RAC said an additional 6.1 million drivers are planning a leisure trip at some point between Friday and Monday. The worst roads are expected to be: M5 between Bristol and Devon from J15 north of Bristol to J23 for Bridgwater - Delays of more than 40 minutes on Friday and Saturday M20 in Kent from J7 near Maidstone to J3 Addington Interchange westbound M20 from J1 at Swanley to J5 at Aylesford eastbound - Delays of more than 30 minutes on Friday The worst times to travel Between 10am and 7pm on Friday Between 9am and 5pm on Saturday Between 11am and 6pm on Monday The best times to travel After 7pm on Friday Before 9am on Saturday Any time on Sunday Before 11am on Monday What to take in the car during hot weather While temperatures are not expected to match that of last week's fourth heatwave of the summer, it should reach into the mid-20s in many places this weekend. The RAC said there were 20% more breakdowns than usual in July because of the hot weather. It said drivers should pack five things in their car during hot weather: - Emergency breakdown kit (includes first aid kit, hi-vis vests and warning triangle) - Cold drinks - Phone chargers - Sunscreen - Cooler box If travelling with young children, motorists are advised to avoid the busiest parts of the day on the roads by leaving early in the morning or by travelling at night time. It says parents or carers should pack a lunch, plenty of snacks and drinks for children on hot road trips. If travelling with a pet, plan plenty of stops so they can take a break and exercise, particularly important in the case of dogs - and never leave them alone in the car as it can be fatal on hot days.
