Denied A Labubu Doll, Boy In China Causes Rs 48 Lakh Damage To Relative's House
Owning expensive items can make visits from relatives with children a risky affair. A social media influencer from Shanghai, China, recently vented his frustration on the local app Red Note after a relative's child caused extensive damage in his home. According to him, the child had asked for a Labubu doll. However, when the request was denied, he threw a tantrum, shattering the mirrored glass ceiling of the villa, valued at around 100,000 yuan (approximately Rs 12 lakh), along with an Italian crystal chandelier worth 300,000 yuan (about Rs 36 lakh).
According to the South China Morning Post, the costly mishap occurred at the home of popular influencer Little Azheng, also known as Tail Brother. The incident began when a visiting relative's child spotted his Labubu doll, adorned with expensive jewellery. Excited, the boy asked for it, but the influencer refused. In frustration, the child began crying, then hurled a nearby remote control into the air, smashing the mirrored ceiling and a chandelier in the living room. What stunned the influencer even more was that the boy refused to apologise for the damage.
According to the content creator, 'The repair work for the ceiling alone requires removing and replacing all the remaining glass panels."
They even proposed to settle the amount in two instalments. Tail Brother agreed, even though it was far less than the actual loss. He said, 'Elders always love using kinship as emotional blackmail. It is incredibly boundary-crossing."
According to Sin Chew Daily, Tail Brother's Labubu doll was not ordinary, as the doll's ears, hands and feet were all fitted with large gem rings, making its worth difficult to calculate.
