Rangers beat Viktoria Plzen 3-0 in the Champions League third qualifying round.
Elsewhere, Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been conditionally bailed over rape charges.
United bid for Sesko
Manchester United have made an offer for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko after Newcastle submitted a second bid for the Slovenia international, the PA news agency understands.
PA understands Newcastle made a second approach to Leipzig after seeing an initial offer for the 22-year-old – reportedly worth 75million euros (£65.1m) with a further 5m euros (£4.3m) in potential add-ons – rejected last week.
That improved offer of at least 80m euros (£69.5m) has been followed by Ruben Amorim's United cementing their long-standing interest with a bid of their own.
The Red Devils have tabled a proposal worth a reported 75m euros (£65.1m) plus a potential 10m euros (£8.7m) in add-ons as they seek to take Sesko to Old Trafford.

Russell Martin's bold team selection paid off as Rangers battered Viktoria Plzen 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League third qualifier at Ibrox.
The Gers boss hit out at some of his squad following their deflating 1-1 draw at Motherwell on Saturday, questioning mentality, egos and application, and captain James Tavernier and midfielder Nicolas Raskin were the biggest names left out among the expected changes.
Martin got the required reaction as winger Djeidi Gassama scored after 15 minutes with his third European goal in three ties before returning striker Cyriel Dessers added a second from the spot just before the interval.
Gassama, signed this summer from Sheffield Wednesday, scored a third in the 51st minute to put the Govan side into a commanding lead and eventually a comfortable win.
Partey bailed over rape charges
Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been granted conditional bail after appearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court on rape and sexual assault charges.
The Ghanaian, 32, has been charged with five counts of rape against two women, as well as a charge of sexual assault against a third woman.
The alleged offences took place between 2021 and 2022, when he was an Arsenal player.
His bail conditions include that he cannot contact any of the three women and must notify police of any permanent changes of address or international travel.
It comes amid reports that Partey is set to join Spanish club Villarreal.

Sheffield Wednesday captain Barry Bannan expects the crisis-hit club to fulfil their opening Sky Bet Championship fixture away to Leicester.
Wednesday's players refused to feature in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Burnley on Saturday after wages were not paid on time for the fourth time in five months.
Sheffield Wednesday Supporters' Trust plans to protest against under-fire owner Dejphon Chansiri during Sunday's televised match against the Foxes at the King Power Stadium.
Asked if there was a prospect of players going on strike, Bannan, who on Saturday signed a new contract at Hillsborough, told talkSPORT: 'No, I don't think so.
'We pulled out of the Burnley game at the weekend, that was simply because it's happened too much now and I think it's a lot easier to pull put of a pre-season friendly game than it is a Championship fixture.'
What's on today?
League of Ireland side Shelbourne travel to Croatia to play Rijeka in the Europa League third qualifying round.
There are six matches in the third qualifying round of the Champions League including Nice against Benfica and Feyenoord against Fenerbahce.

'Bang average' or a 'must keep'? - fans split on Dessers

We asked for your views on whether or not Rangers should let Cyriel Dessers go this what some of you said:Scott: Dessers has the mentality to be a Rangers striker, even if he does miss some absolute sitters. He reminds me a little bit of Andy Cole at Manchester United (showing my age) – he works hard for the team and gets a lot of stick for it in the bargain, but he is so resilient. The other strikers are just here for the ride. When the going gets tough, time and again we've seen them go Dessers is bang average if you wish to be kind. Not a top quality striker and better needed if Rangers are to go forwards this Dessers should stay. His movement and awareness is second to none in the Rangers squad. Wish I could say the same about Mohamed Diomande. Keeps giving the ball away in the wrong places and is not a patch on Nicolas Raskin. Lastly why did Russell Martin sign Max Aarons? He is absolutely We have got to keep Dessers because he knows how to score goals and leads the line brilliantly, and we must keep Hamza Igamane as Dessers needs to stay, a number nine with that many goals has got to stay. Who are they going to bring in at this late stage who will score more? Enough said. Love him or hate him, he is good enough for Dessers certainly showed himself to be a good target player for linking play, neither Igamane or Danilo can do this. However, Rangers need to get back up and stop messing around. Otherwise we are again going to fall short.

Newcastle could suffer ANOTHER transfer blow after Benjamin Sesko's Man United decision - as Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr eye move for Magpies target

Newcastle could reportedly be set to miss out on another one of their transfer targets this summer. Despite securing Champions League football Eddie Howe 's side have endured a decidedly disappointing window thus far. The club's all-time record signing Alexander Isak's future remains in the air with the wantaway striker attempting to force through a move to Premier League champions Liverpool. Meanwhile Benjamin Sesko looks set to join Manchester United following a protracted saga despite Newcastle's best efforts to bring the RB Leipzig man to St James' Park. After Sesko named Old Trafford as his preferred destination Newcastle have wasted little time in identifying alternative targets to strengthen their options going forward for the coming campaign. One of those players said to feature on Eddie Howe's shortlist is Brentford forward Yoane Wissa. Magpies are said to be weighing up a move for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa this summer Wissa netted 19 Premier League goals for the Bees last season and has also attracted interest from the likes of Tottenham and Nottingham Forest. However, after losing long-time manager Thomas Frank this summer and with Bryan Mbeumo, Christian Norgaard and Mark Flekken all leaving the club Brentford are said to be determined to hold on to the 28-year-old. According to a report from L'Equipe, while Newcastle are said to have been put off by Brentford's asking price for Wissa, Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr are ready to meet their demands. Former Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran departed Al-Nassr on loan this summer just months after completing a lucrative switch to the gulf state club. As such, Jorge Jesus' side are on the hunt for attacking reinforcements to partner the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane in the star-studded team. After initially being linked with a move away from the club after again failing to secure a league title win in Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo ultimately signed a bumper new two-year deal with Al-Nassr in June. The new terms, which will take him past his 42nd birthday, reportedly include an eye-watering basic salary of £488,000-a-day.

Weiss addresses Slovan controversy ahead of potential Celtic tie

The winners of the tie face Celtic in the play-off round of the Champions League later this month. Veteran Slovan Bratislava boss Weiss confronted the referee and fourth official and stormed onto the pitch over the late penalty. He had to be dragged away as he fumed over the loss to the club he used to manage. Weiss Jr, who previously played for Rangers, has addressed his father's actions as he revealed the manager regrets his actions. He won't be in the dugout for the second leg after the red card. Read more: Weiss, 35, said: "He's a very emotional man and this match meant even more to him because he used to manage Kairat Almaty. "Just as I would do anything for this team, so would he. "He regrets what happened now, but there's nothing he can do about it now. "Unfortunately, we will miss him in the home leg, but with the quality on our side and with our excellent fans, we will beat them at a sold-out stadium and win through to play against Celtic." Slovan Bratislava lost 5-1 to Celtic in the league phase of the Champions League last season. Celtic will be at home for the first leg of the Champions League play-off round before travelling for the away leg against either Kairat or Slovan Bratislava. That game will be played on Wednesday, August 20, with an 8pm kick-off, as per UEFA's website. The return leg - wherever that will be - is set to take place six days later on Tuesday, August 26, also with an 8pm kick-off.
