Season 2 of ‘Percy Jackson' is Coming—And Season 3 is Confirmed!

Yahoo4 days ago
Demigods, it's time to complete the prophecy and return to Camp Half Blood again. That's right, The Oracle and the Greek Gods have officially announced when Season 2 of the hit TV show adaptation Percy Jackson and the Olympians is going to be available to stream, and have even released some photos of the main cast members like Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, and Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase. Scroll on to see them and learn more about when the Disney+ show will release and what the plot is expected to be.
What 'Percy Jackson' Season 2 will be about
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 was announced in 2024, just a few months after the first season came out. It is expected to follow the second book in author Rick Riordan's best-selling series, The Sea of Monsters.
In the novel, Percy Jackson (played by Scobell) travels to Circe's island with his friend Annabeth Chase (played by Jeffries) to try and procure the legendary Golden Fleece in the hopes that it will save both Camp Half Blood and the magical tree that protects it. Elsewhere, the now villainous Luke Castellan (played by Charlie Bushnell) works to revive the titan Kronos, and Grover Underwood (Aryan Simhadri) goes mysteriously missing, all of which are featured in the trailer below!
'This season has a lot more action than last season for sure,' Scobell, age 16, said, per TV Insider. 'I feel like last season was very much like, we would stay in one place and have a conversation and then there'd be an action sequence, you know what I mean? It was awesome. But this season, the stakes are higher for our characters, so it almost feels like there's never a place where we just stop and talk. We're almost always doing something, which I think fits this book perfectly. There's just so much at stake for our characters.'
The actor could be referring to the book's chariot race, Cyclops' fight or his character being turned into a gerbil, but only time will tell.
This will be the second time the book has been adapted, as it was made into a film in 2013, which starred Logan Lerman as Percy Jackson, Brandon T. Jackson as Grover Underwood and Alexandra Daddario as Annabeth Chase.
Who's in the 'Percy Jackson' Season 2 cast?
Along with Scobell, Jeffries, Bushnell and Simhadri Dior Goodjohn (who plays Clarisse La Rue), Virginia Kull (who plays Sally Jackson), Glynn Turman (who plays Chiron/Mr. Brunner), Jason Mantzoukas (who plays Dionysus/Mr.D), Toby Stephens (who plays Poseidon) and Lin Manuel Miranda (who plays Hermes) are expected to return.
They will be joined by Tamara Smart (who will play Thalia Grace), Daniel Diemer (who will play Tyson), Andra Day (who will play Athena) and Timothy Simons (who will play Tantalus). Courtney B. Vance is also expected to appear, as he will take over the role of Zeus from Lance Reddick, who tragically passed away in 2023 at the age of 60.
'There's also just a little bit of denial, I think. That's something that we're gonna have to deal with. But we're incredibly grateful for this character that he helped build and the presence that he created,' executive producer Jon Steinberg said in February 2024, per Deadline. I do not envy whoever has to step into his shoes.'
When does 'Percy Jackson' Season 2 come out?
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is expected to release on Disney+ on December 10, 2025. As of publication, there is no news on whether episodes will be released one by one like Season 1 was.
Is 'Percy Jackson' getting a Season 3?
Following that, Disney announced that the show will be returning for a third season, which will be based on book three, The Titan's Curse. It will be the first time that the novel has been adapted and will introduce viewers to Nico D'Angelo, who will be played by Levi Chrisopulos and his sister Bianca D'Angelo, who will be played by Olive Abercrombie.
'We're so grateful to be continuing the story of Percy Jackson on Disney+. This third season will be new territory for the screen, bringing fan favorites like the Hunters of Artemis and Nico di Angelo to life for the first time,' Riordan, the author, wrote on his website. 'It's a huge sign of commitment from Disney, and speaks volumes about the enthusiasm with which the fandom has embraced the TV show. Thank you, demigods worldwide!'
It is expected to start filming in July of this year, with Scobell musing it 'probably will be my favorite season to shoot,' per J-14.

‘God and Sex': A Novel That Lives Up to Its Epic Title

GOD AND SEX, by Jon Raymond Arthur, the narrator of Jon Raymond's new novel, is an uncelebrated writer of meandering books. His last was 'a compendium of theories about light through the ages,' and it did not do well. Now, he's trying to write a book about trees. He's an unlikely protagonist for a novel with such an epic title, 'God and Sex,' the two biggest short words in the English language. What do those mysterious, powerful forces have to do with a 'paunchy, balding, papery' nobody and his forgettable books? Let's start with sex. At the end of the first chapter, Arthur spots a woman in a raincoat who is waiting outside for Phil, a professor Arthur befriends while researching his tree book. 'That's the moment I first encountered Phil's wife,' he recalls. Her name is Sarah. From there, the book plunges into Arthur and Sarah's enthusiastic affair, which becomes a liberating romp for them both, with little attention paid to the betrayal of her oblivious husband. Sarah and Arthur have sex in grassy fields, in empty classrooms and on Sarah's living room floor. The book isn't bawdy, but it carries the heat and electricity of an illicit infatuation. Arthur, Sarah and poor Phil all have the grit, wrinkles and foibles of real people fumbling through it together. But where does God come into all this? Sarah leaves for a retreat on Mount Hood. Soon after, a forest fire breaks out along the flanks of the mountain. Raymond, who has previously written climate fiction, including the novel 'Denial,' and several lauded screenplays, writes with harrowing detail about the sounds that trees make as they're consumed, the sting of acrid smoke in your eyes, and the flames that 'blurred between orange and yellow and blue, bending into delicate new forms with every riffle of wind.' The Studio Museum in Harlem Sets an Opening Date

After the Studio Museum in Harlem closed its doors for renovations in 2018, it would take seven years and a $300 million capital campaign that nearly doubled its original goal to finally set an opening date. With construction delays and fund-raising hurdles cleared, the museum will reopen to the public on Nov. 15, the nonprofit announced on Tuesday morning. The new building, at 244 West 125th Street, houses seven floors of galleries, artist studios, workshops and education centers. 'Our breathtaking new building is more than just a space; it is a monumental testament to the museum's mission and the vitality of artists of African descent,' Thelma Golden, the museum's director and chief curator, said in an interview. 'I am thrilled to welcome everyone back to a reimagined Studio Museum.' The suggested admission rate for adults will be $16 — nearly half of what other major museums are charging — and $9 for seniors and students, while tickets remain free for children under 16 and visitors with disabilities. During a tour in July, there were only a few artworks installed, including a 2007 wall sculpture by Glenn Ligon that has the word 'WE' reflected underneath the word 'ME.' Highlights of the new building include a teaching room, a vaulted gallery capable of holding monumental sculptures and a rooftop garden with impressive southern views of Manhattan. Golden said the museum expected to increase its staff size by a third to around 120 full-time employees; she also predicted that its annual budget, which was 11 million before closing, would need to expand.
