VERMILION COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Illinois State Police are on scene investigating an accident that has caused Catlin Tilton Road to close.

There is currently a detour down 1330 East for drivers coming from Catlin, or on 1550 North for those coming from Tilton as a result of the accident.

Pilot killed, child injured in small plane crash in DeKalb County
DEKALB COUNTY, Ill. - A 51-year-old man was killed and a 3-year-old child was injured Saturday when a small plane crashed into a farm field near the Hinckley Airfield in DeKalb County on Saturday afternoon, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office. What we know Emergency responders from multiple agencies — including the sheriff's office, Hinckley police and fire departments, Waterman Fire Department and Big Rock Fire Department — were called to the scene at 12747 U.S. Route 30. Authorities said the aircraft, a 1946 Aeronca 7AC, went down just west of the airfield. The pilot, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The child, also from Maple Park, was initially taken to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb before being transferred to Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago in stable condition. The backstory The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said Rivera was shot in the back. It happened Thursday around 10 p.m. at 82nd Street and Drexel Avenue. Police said Rivera and her partner stopped a man who eventually ran into a building. When officers chased him, police said they were confronted by a man with a gun. "Rivera was in the process of investigating someone in possession of a gun. At some point, a weapon was pointed in the direction of those officers", said CPD Supt. Larry Snelling. "How the officer got in between her partner and the person he was firing at we don't know, but that's certainly one of the risks of entering a room like that," Snelling said. Authorities are investigating the initial stop prior to the deadly shooting. Rivera worked for the department for four years. She was described as hard-working and a mentor to younger officers. She also leaves behind a 10-year-old daughter. Chicago police are asking the city to pray for Rivera's family as well as her partner. "That officer is in a very tough place, it's unimaginable what they're going through right now", Snelling said. Man killed in San Jose, 11th homicide of year
SAN JOSE, Calif. - Authorities are investigating a shooting that killed a man Friday night in San Jose. Officers responded to the 6500 block of Camden Avenue around 10:40 p.m., where they found a man shot. The identity of the victim wasn't shared, but officials said the victim was a man and died at the scene. Officials said the shooting marks the city's 11th homicide of the year.
