Crunchyroll CEO addresses Solo Leveling Season 3 delay: 'We hope so'

Express Tribune01-05-2025

After dominating the anime scene in early 2025, Solo Leveling Season 2 left fans hungry for more — but there's still no official word on Season 3.
In a new interview with Deadline, Crunchyroll President Rahul Purini finally addressed the elephant in the room, giving fans a small dose of hope... and a big dose of reality.
When asked if Solo Leveling Season 3 is on the way, Purini said, 'We hope so,' while explaining the decision isn't solely up to Crunchyroll. He noted that while the demand is sky-high, the production team at A-1 Pictures is juggling several projects. 'Anime is really popular, so there's a lot of demand, and so we have to find the right time to get started on the next season,' he said.
This lines up with recent comments from Sung Jinwoo's English voice actor Aleks Le, who warned fans that Season 3 won't be coming out for a while. While disappointing, the message is clear: everyone wants it to happen — they just need time.
Producer Atsushi Kaneko even joked on Reddit that fans need to channel their inner Dragon Ball Spirit Bomb energy to help make Season 3 a reality.
Until then, Solo Leveling fans can only wait — and maybe rewatch Season 2 — while hoping the creators can level up production soon.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's Daughter debuts new name at Los Angeles fashion event

Shiloh Jolie, the 19-year-old daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, introduced a new public identity at a fashion event in Los Angeles last week. Attending the launch of Isabel Marant's capsule collection with Net-A-Porter, Shiloh was credited as a choreographer for an original dance number—under the name 'Shi Joli,' a shortened moniker inspired by her mother's surname. The exclusive 'sunset dinner' took place at Schindler's Oliver House in the Silver Lake neighborhood. Shiloh's choreography was performed by dancers Tako Suzuki and Keoni Rose, accompanied by singer Luella's live rendition of 'Naïve.' In the event's press release, her name appeared as 'Shi Joli,' marking her first professional appearance using the shortened identity. Shiloh's appearance under the new name follows her legal decision to drop 'Pitt' from her surname on her 18th birthday in May 2024. The change was made official in August, with sources confirming that she independently hired a lawyer and financed the process herself, without input from Angelina Jolie. In a statement at the time, her attorney said the decision was 'independent and significant,' made in response to 'painful events.' Brad Pitt was reportedly 'aware and upset' when Shiloh made the change. A source told People that he 'always wanted a daughter' and has struggled with the emotional distance between himself and his children. 'He loves his children and misses them,' the source said. 'It's very sad.' Shiloh isn't the only sibling to distance themselves from Pitt's name. Zahara Jolie dropped 'Pitt' during her 2023 Alpha Kappa Alpha induction, and reports suggest Maddox Jolie has also avoided using 'Pitt' on non-legal documents. Pitt and Jolie, who finalized their divorce in 2024 after an eight-year legal battle, share six children.

Yasir Hussain is not opposed to raising a dozen kids

During an interview with Tabish Hashmi, Yasir Hussain had a thing or two to say about large families, starting with his own experience of being raised with 11 older siblings. The actor, who recently returned to theatre, began by joking about his father's army of 12 children: "If my father worked in theatre, the audience would be our own." Confirming that he's the youngest of the 12 siblings, Yasir refuted the common belief that he would have double the amount of nephews and nieces, quipping that not everyone is as ambitious as his father was. Despite the wisecracks, the Badshah Begum actor doesn't see a problem with a large household. "There are no issues. I, myself, am fond of children. And I've spent a great childhood with my siblings, even though we lived in a one-bathroom home," he revealed. Yasir jested that in such an environment, one's natural cycles adjust on their own, adding that the body times itself according to whose turn it is to relieve themselves. He believes that even in current times, it is possible to raise as many as 12 kids if families wish to brave that step. "They can definitely do it. I've seen people who've done it very well," he noted. The Karachi Se Lahore actor added that having many children doesn't impede each child's upbringing. "It's important to take out time for your kids," he said. "Even if you have two kids, you do make time for them, don't you? It's necessary to do that." Although he's not opposed to the idea of fathering an abundance of children, Yasir has only one son - Kabir - with wife Iqra Aziz. From Yasir championing time and attention to Iqra discouraging abuse, it is clear that Kabir is being raised in a loving environment and one that prioritises tradition. In a March interview, the couple shared that they prefer to teach their son Urdu first and foremost, keeping all other languages secondary. "Once an actor pointed out to me that Kabir speaks in Urdu, so I mentioned that that's the language we speak at home. So they said, 'Teach him English. Don't make this mistake. He will learn Urdu at some point eventually,'" Yasir recalled. "Urdu is more important; I've seen a lot of people who can't speak it properly. It's important to build that habit, then your child may learn English or Punjabi or any other language later on," he added.
