The IET Extends Application Deadline for India's Premier Engineering Scholarship to 22 June

New Delhi [India], June 10: The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), one of the world's largest professional engineering bodies, has extended the application deadline for the 9th edition of the 'IET India Scholarship Award' to 22 June 2025, giving more aspiring engineers the opportunity to step forward and demonstrate their potential to solve real-world problems through innovation.
Recognised as one of India's most prestigious scholarships for undergraduate engineering students, the IET India Scholarship Award is open to students enrolled full-time in AICTE/UGC-approved engineering programmes across the country. More than a financial grant, the Award seeks to identify and nurture the next generation of engineering leaders--students who are not just academically strong, but passionate about using technology to make a meaningful impact on society. Past winners include professionals currently working at Sprinklr, Apple, Google and other global tech players.
With a total prize pool of Rs10 lakhs on offer, the national winner will receive Rs3,00,000, alongside nine additional awards for regional winners and runners-up. Beyond monetary benefits, the programme offers national recognition, opportunities to present innovations at high-profile industry platforms, and access to the IET's global professional network.
Ajay Salariya, India Awards & Scholarships Manager at The Institution of Engineering and Technology, said, "By extending the deadline, we hope to encourage more young innovators to take that first step. This is more than just a scholarship--it is a launchpad for tomorrow's engineers to address the challenges of today. Last year, we were inspired by entries from over 2,000 cities and 2,260 colleges, and we look forward to an equally dynamic response this year."
Applicants must have a minimum aggregate score of 60% or a CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale. The scholarship is open to students from any engineering specialisation and year of study, with no age limit. The selection process includes a rigorous four-stage evaluation: an online test on core engineering knowledge, regional-level solution-thons, and a national final scheduled for September 2025.

AVPL drones keep water bodies pest-free
Hyderabad: Amid the season of rain, many local initiatives are required to avoid diseases like dengue and malaria. To work towards the same, AVPL International deployed advanced medium category drones across Banjara Lake and Sangareddy Lake in Hyderabad to spray mosquito larvicide, targeting mosquito breeding grounds. The initiative covered a total area of 3 acres over a two-day operation, marking the beginning of a year-long project aimed at comprehensive mosquito control in the region. A medium-category drone equipped with a centrifugal nozzle was used for the spraying, ensuring precise application of the larvicide while minimising human exposure and maximising coverage. The operations were conducted by a team comprising 2 pilots, trained and certified by AVPL's DGCA-approved Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO). Speaking about the initiative, Preet Sandhuu, Founder and MD of AVPL International, said, 'It is an honor to work towards this transformative public health and safety initiative. At AVPL, we are deeply committed to serving the nation, whether by nurturing talent or safeguarding communities for societal benefit.' Hi-tech lab, new hostels for girls, boys on AKTU campus
Lucknow: Governor Anandiben Patel, chancellor of state universities, inaugurated multiple key facilities at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University on Tuesday. The facilities include state's first high-tech Makers Lab, a new AICTE-AKTU Idea Lab and the newly constructed boys' and girls' hostels on the university campus. "Students must use AI not just for innovation, but for impact, whether it's solving agricultural problems, reducing animal testing in medicine, or guiding farmers toward right crops based on consumption data," said the governor. Established by IT company Makers Lab on ground floor of the Central Library, it spans 2,400 square feet and features 25 advanced workstations and modern tools including artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), Robotics and 3D Printers. The lab offers collaborative zones with round tables and conferencing space. The IT company will provide students with free access to nearly 19,000 online courses across technical, non-technical, business communication and science disciplines. AICTE-AKTU Idea Lab, located at Centre for Advanced Studies, will function 24x7, offering mechanical, electrical and electronics lab facilities to help students convert innovative ideas into working prototypes.
