TV star seen crying in car after ‘hard day'

Former Masterchef judge Melissa Leong is typically bubbly and reassured in the kitchen, but fans saw a different side to the TV foodie after she shared a 'raw' moment of vulnerability from her car in a teary social post. The 43-year-old's latest project sees her re-connect with her past, which Leong admitted had triggered a challenging period of introspection. 'Today was a hard day. I started recording the audio version of my memoir, and I knew sharing some of what I wrote might be the most difficult thing I have ever had to say out loud to strangers,' she told fans. Set for release on September 30 this year, Leong's book promises to be a 'memoir of food, failure and taking impossible chances'. While fans might know her as 'Fooderati', the first female Masterchef judge, or a Gold Logie nominee, the stylish star will deliver a candid account of her life's failures, successes, and everything in between. 'It's not yet time to talk about it, but I really need to send love to anyone out there who has been forced through the dark. You are not alone, and I need to know I am not, either,' she added. 'I am not one for posting these kinds of raw moments, but I want to mark today as one where I reclaimed myself and my story once and for all.' Hope you're hungry,' she's told fans in her book's promotion. Following Leong's very public show of emotion, her numerous TV and cooking pals have reached out and empathised with her creative process. 'Sending so much love,' fellow author and presenter Jess Rowe responded. Author Hannah Diviney said, '(Recording) my audiobook was like pressing on every bruise and opening every wound I've ever had but it ended up feeling so freeing and important. You're doing great ❤️'.

Five of the best self-tanning products for a streak-free glow all year round

Pale limbs this winter? While we're bundling up to brave the cold, one surprise outfit switch could leave your arms or legs suddenly exposed. If you're looking to cheat your way to a sun-kissed glow, there are plenty of self-tanning formulas on the market that will bronze your body in no time at all. From streak-free express tans to scent-free gradual moisturisers, there are more ways than ever to fake a 'just came back from Europe' look. Whether you prefer an instant tan or a fast-drying mousse, Best Picks have rounded up the top-rated faux glows on the market for a natural-looking tan. 1. Bondi Sands Ultra Express Tanning Foam, $27.95 at Bondi Sands We get it — sometimes tanning can take a bit of effort — but Bondi Sands' Ultra Express Tanning Foam is here to save the day. Perfect for achieving a natural glow in as little as an hour, the game-changing formula features a world-first ColourLock Accelerator technology to develop a warm, rich colour. 2. Bali Body Instant Tan Cream, $25.95 at Priceline Chances are you've already heard about Bali Body's formulas, because they are just that good. One product we can't stop raving about here at Best Picks is the Instant Tan Cream, a nourishing cream-like texture that goes on just like a moisturiser. There's one key difference — it adds an instant tanning colour, making it great for applying last minute before heading out the door. 3. Three Warriors Hydrabronze Tanning Drops, $39 at Adore Beauty Approved by none another than Sonia Kruger, Three Warriors is another tanning brand loved by Aussies across the country. The latest launch to join their impressive faux-glow lineup is the Hydrabronze Tanning Drops, a skincare infused formula that not only adds a post-holiday bronze, but moisturises and nourishes at the same time. 4. Coco & Eve Sun-Kissed Gradual Tanning Lotion, $42 at The Iconic For those who tend to steer clear of a mousse formula, a gradual tanning lotion will give you a natural bronze, without the fuss. Coco & Eve's Gradual Tanning Lotion is non-sticky and absorbs quickly into the skin, slowly developing a subtle shade of colour that lasts up to four days. 5. St Tropez Self Tan Purity Bronzing Water Face Mist, $34.99 at Priceline If your face is looking a little laclustre, you could be in need of a touch of faux glow to add a spring to your step. While many traditional tanning formulas are designed for the body rather than the face, St Tropez Face Mist is the perfect pick-me-up. Infused with 100 per cent natural tanning agents and hibiscus agents, simply spray a few pumps onto clean, dry skin.

Much-loved Nova star returns to radio after months off

Radio star Kate Ritchie has returned to the airwaves following a six-month mental health break, telling fans she's 'incredibly grateful' to be re-taking her breakfast seat despite her sudden departure in February. The former Home & Away actress has become a radio stalwart on the Nova network and was welcomed back with open arms by her Nova colleagues Fitzy & Wippa, Tom Ivey, and Jess Francis on Friday morning. After being re-introduced in a cheeky rollcall, the 46-year-old appeared refreshed as she coyly shouted 'present!' before addressing listeners. 'It is so good to be back, and I didn't want to really kind of stop down and talk too much about everything,' she began. 'But I just have to say, in all honesty, I have felt such gratitude, I think.' Earlier this year, the star announced she'd be taking a break to 'focus on my health', thanking those in her corner for assisting throughout the difficult period. Her official departure followed several days of absence from the air and mounting speculation that her mental state was suffering. 'I struggle with mental health issues at times, which are deeply personal. This has proven to be a bigger challenge than I imagined,' she told fans in a statement at the time. 'I'm not going to hit you with a hashtag blessed or anything like that, but I feel so incredibly grateful for the period of time that I have had away from the studio, and not only away from Nova, but away from lots of things,' she added. But it wasn't just those immediately around the star that had offered words of support, with the host thankful for the kindness and respect she was shown by strangers. 'For people to bother to actually say, without being intrusive, 'Hey, it's really nice to see you, hope you're doing well. Can't wait to hear you back on radio'... 'What has been the most important thing and the most different thing for me this time is that despite all of the love that I feel, I didn't do it for anybody else, I did it for me.' Fans and friends of Ritchie have expressed their support on social media, with former Home & Away co-star Lynne McGranger leading the chorus of well-wishes. 'That is wonderful news!! Welcome back love!! 🩷🩷🩷,' the newest Gold Logie winner said. Perth's Nathan, Nat & Shaun also sent their love, offering three love heart emojis in wake of the positive news. WA's Nova breakfast stalwarts have experienced a similar absence from their regular line-up, with long-time host Nathan Morris yet to return on a permanent basis following a similar months-long stint off air. Ritchie has not gone entirely off-grid, however, returning to her TV roots to promote her parenting docuseries The Role of a Lifetime, starring alongside Amanda Keller, Maggie Dent, and Nazeem Hussain.
