Nicholas Galitzine Unveils He-Man First Looks As ‘Masters of the Universe' Wraps Filming

Geek Culture16-06-2025

It's a wrap for Amazon MGM's live-action He-Man film, Masters of the Universe, as leading man Nicholas Galitzine has announced the end of production, alongside a teaser image of the star decked out in his He-Man costume.
Taking to Instagram, Galitzine shared his excitement for the upcoming project, and reflected on his journey portraying the iconic character based on the classic Mattel toy line. 'Well, that's a wrap on Masters of the Universe,' he wrote, 'It has been an honour shouldering the responsibility of playing Adam and He-Man. It's been the role of a lifetime and I put everything into it. There's not much I can show you, but I am so proud of the movie we've made. Thanks to our amazing cast and crew for all your hard work.'
This statement accompanied an image of the star in his full He-Man costume from behind, but shrouded in darkness. Despite this, the actor's silhouette not only offers a glimpse at his Power Sword, but also teases an armour design that seems very accurate to the original toy, signalling a respect for its source material that points towards a faithful live-action adaptation of the classic television series.
While plot details for Masters of the Universe remain under wraps, the film will centre around Galitzine's Prince Adam of Eternia, who turns into He-Man thanks to his Power Sword, gaining superhuman abilities which he uses to defend Eternia and Castle Grayskull. The film is directed by Travis Knight (Bumblebee), with its script written by Chris Butler (ParaNorman).
Alongside Galitzine, the film also stars Camila Mendes (Riverdale) as Teela, Jared Leto (Morbius) as Skeletor, Idris Elba (Luther) as Man-at-Arms, Morena Baccarin (Deadpool) as The Sorceress, Alison Brie (Community) as Evil-lyn, James Purefoy (The Following) as King Randor and Charlotte Riley (Peaky Blinders) as Queen Marlena.
Masters of the Universe is set to hit theatres on 5 June 2026.

'Duke Nukem' Adaptation Set By 'Devil May Cry' & ‘Castlevania' Showrunner Adi Shanker

Legendary gaming icon Duke Nukem is back, just not in a way most are expecting, as Adi Shankar, showrunner of Netflix's Devil May Cry and Castlevania animated series, has acquired the screen rights to the classic shooter franchise for his next game-to-screen adaptation. Speaking to Esqurie, Shankar spoke on his future plans, which, apart from season two of Devil May Cry , included a Duke Nukem show. 'I'm being approached with different IPs and companies that want to work with me,' he explained, 'I bought the rights to Duke Nukem. Not the gaming rights, but I bought it from Gearbox.' Duke Nukem 3D (1996) Even though the project is still in its infancy, Shankar already has plans for his take on the iconic '90s video game franchise. 'It's a middle finger to everybody,' he described when asked about his vision for the show, 'When Duke Nukem blew up, a bunch of people sat around trying to turn it into a brand, when it's just a middle finger. Duke Nukem can't be made by a corporation, because the moment a corporation makes Duke Nukem , it's no longer Duke Nukem . I don't intend on having anyone tell me what to do on this one.' From his comments alone, it seems like his adaptation will be as unapologetic and no-holds-barred as its gaming source material, which was made famous by its tongue-in-cheek nature, violence and self-aware immaturity. Duke Nukem Forever (2011) Duke Nukem entered the video game scene in 1991 as a series of 2D platformers created by Apogee Software Ltd. (now 3D Realms). The franchise would rise to fame in 1996 with Duke Nukem 3D , which transformed it into the FPS icon many know today. The series would go on to receive numerous sequels and spin-offs over 15 years, culminating in 2011's infamous Duke Nukem Forever , which was heavily criticised by critics and fans alike, effectively killing the series… until now, that is. Still, it's unclear what form the project will eventually take, be it an animated series like his previous works, a live-action TV show, or a movie. It's also unknown how his acquisition of the franchise's screen rights will affect Legendary Entertainment's Duke Nukem movie by Cobra Kai creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg. ‘Stellar Blade' On PC Is The Definitive Way To Experience Eve's Journey

Fan service is a beautiful thing. The mere notion of giving an audience exactly what they want is simple, yet wholly effective in drawing attention to a game, regardless of its quality. And while most titles of this nature offer nothing more than a visual treat, with no substantial accompanying gameplay systems to back it up, Shift Up's 2024 hack-and-slash jaunt Stellar Blade goes above and beyond. Alongside glorious fan service in the form of gorgeous character designs and eye-popping cosmetics to collect, its slick visuals are held together by a solid gameplay and combat foundation, becoming a testament to what a game can achieve when a studio understands its target audience. Since its release in April 2024, the game has seen constant post-launch support, not only fixing many of the gameplay issues listed in our review, but also a multitude of bonus free and paid content like a New Game+ mode, additional costumes, seasonal events, and crossovers with other IPs like PlatinumGames' 2017 action hit Nier Automata . Now that Stellar Blade is available on PC, those who were unable to play it on the first day of release due to PlayStation 5 launch exclusivity can finally hop on the hype train, joining a whole new player base in experiencing Eve's adventure the definitive way, complete with a suite of PC-specific features and improvements. Even on the base PS5, the performance of Stellar Blade was, well… stellar upon launch. The game had no problems hitting the coveted 60 frames per second (fps) on Performance Mode, even offering three different graphics modes, a feature not often seen on the platform: Performance Mode, which ran at 1440p upscaled to 4K at a practically locked 60fps; Balanced Mode, which ran at a dynamic 1080p to 1440p with temporal reconstruction up to 4K for cleaner image fidelity and also mostly stuck to 60fps; and a Quality Mode which targeted a native 4K image at a locked 30fps. The PC port removes these frame rate limitations, unlocking the game's maximum potential with possible frame rates well above 60fps, which is extremely important considering the timing-based nature of its combat. With the added fluidity, perfect parries and dodges are now much easier to pull off than before, making combat more satisfying as a result. To further improve performance, Stellar Blade also includes support for modern AI-assisted upscaling tools, such as NVIDIA DLSS 4 and AMD FSR 3, for ramping up performance with the least impact on visual quality. Frame generation technologies are also supported, such as NVIDIA's latest multi-frame generation, which boosts frame rates even further on GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards. On a gaming laptop powered by an RTX 5070 Ti mobile GPU, Stellar Blade achieved an average frame rate of between 180 and 200fps on maximum graphical settings, including DLSS 4 on Quality and with Multi-Frame generation turned on – an impressive feat for a laptop graphics card. Even without all the performance bells and whistles, the game's optimisation remains impressive. When tested on a lower-end Intel Arc A750 GPU (comparable to an RTX 4060) with an Intel Core i5-12400F processor, the game managed to maintain a mostly locked 60fps at a 3440×1440-pixel widescreen resolution with all settings at High, only dropping to the mid-50s during intensive cutscenes. Apart from performance, Stellar Blade 's PC port also includes various features exclusive to the platform, such as the 21:9 and 32:9 ultrawide and super ultrawide aspect ratios, alongside additional 4K background textures. Controller users can expect full support for the PlayStation DualSense controller's haptic feedback and adaptive trigger features, with the ability to fully customise key layouts for gamepads, keyboards and mice for added flexibility. Additionally, a host of new content has been added across PC and PS5, including a new boss fight with Mann, the leader of the Sentinels, 25 additional Nano Suits, as well as Simplified Chinese and Japanese voiceovers with matching facial animations. A new paid crossover DLC with Goddess of Victory: Nikke has also been released for both platforms, bringing new game-inspired costumes and bonus missions featuring Nikke 's cover-shooting mechanics. With the PC release of Stellar Blade , there's no better time to hop in and witness Eve's journey for both newcomers and returning players. For more, check out our gameplay video above showcasing 45 minutes of the game running on an RTX 4090 gaming rig at max settings at an ultra-wide 3440×1440 resolution. ‘Highlander' Reboot Reteams Russell Crowe And Henry Cavill

There can only be one, unless you're Russell Crowe. The Oscar winner will star opposite Henry Cavill in the forthcoming Highlander reboot, stepping into the role of his mentor, originally played by Sean Connery ( James Bond films) in the 1986 movie (via Collider). John Wick director Chad Stahelski is helming the project, which began production this January after being in various stages of development for nearly 10 years. It marks a reunion between the filmmaker and Michael Finch, known for John Wick: Chapter 4 , who is penning the script. While story specifics are still kept under wraps, Stahelski shared that the remake is being brought forward from 'the early 1500s in the highlands to the beyond present-day New York and Hong Kong' with a 'big opportunity for action'. 'So you get to cover quite a broad spread of a character arc there. And you get to experience someone that's trained over 500 years and sort of played [with many types of] martial arts,' Stahelski added, referring to Cavill's character. Starring Christopher Lambert ( Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes ) as protagonist Connor MacLeod, and Connery, the original cult classic chronicles the climax of an age-old war between immortal warriors, depicted through interwoven past and present-day storylines. It was a commercial failure on its initial theatrical release, but has since grown into a beloved title with several film sequels and TV spin-offs. Stahelski's version of Highlander is tentatively slated for 2026. In the meantime, Cavill will be busy with Amazon's Warhammer 40K series adaptation, which currently doesn't have a release date.
