Julian Sayin has officially been named Ohio State's starting quarterback ahead of the 2025 regular season.
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day announced on Monday afternoon, August 18 that the former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback, who transferred into the Buckeyes program ahead of the 2024 season, has been named the team's starting quarterback. Sayin, a former five-star recruit out of California, beat out former top recruit Lincoln Kienholz to win the job. Sayin will now be receiving the majority of the practice reps heading into the season opener.
The Buckeyes are scheduled to take on the No. 1 Texas Longhorns at The Horsehoe in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday afternoon, August 30. Will the Buckeyes quarterback be ready?
Ohio State fans - and the college football world as a whole - don't know much about Sayin. he redshirted last season but comes with a high pedigree. He was the No. 1 quarterback transfer in the country when he left Alabama. He was a top recruit coming out of high school.
Heading into his first start of the season, his first pass in this practice clip is really "all fans need to see."

Sayin will get a chance to prove himself right away, facing off against the most-hyped quarterback in the country in Arch Manning.
Fans are already excited.

Sayin has been turning heads throughout preseason camp. It's no surprise that he's been named the starter.
Ohio State and Texas are scheduled to kick off at 12 p.m. E.T. on Saturday, August 30.
The game will air on FOX.
