Marshawn Lynch and Marcus Peters join Seawolves ownership group
In a bit of Seattle Seahawks-adjacent news, former franchise great Marshawn Lynch finds himself back in the local headlines for yet another incredible reason. Lynch, as well as former Washington Huskies defensive back Marcus Peters, are becoming investors/owners in the Seattle Seawolves rugby team!
The news was broken by ESPN's Adam Schefter, who is additionally reported the two Seattle sports icons will be engaging in activities to help expand the sport to young kids in the region.
Ever since hanging his cleats up, Lynch has been involved in various business ventures and has remained involved in the Pacific Northwest. His attendance at Seahawks, Kraken and Mariners sporting events is a common occurrence, including calming head coach Mike Macdonald down during his first game with Seattle.
As for Marcus Peters, it is wonderful seeing him return to the Emerald City as a role model. Things weren't always smooth sailing for Peters while he played football in Seattle. During his final college season, the Huskies dismissed him from the team due to disciplinary reasons. However, he turned it around and went on to have a prolific NFL career from 2015-2023 across four teams, earning two All-Pro nods and three trips to the Pro Bowl.
Getting involved with the Seawolves is not foreign ground for Lynch and Peters, who have been founders and executives for the FCF Beasts - a professional indoor football team.

Former Bills Pro Bowler views Patriots as team's biggest threat
Former Buffalo Bills Pro Bowl center Eric Wood views the New England Patriots as the biggest threat to the Bills currently in the AFC East. The Patriots generated considerable buzz this offseason after hiring Mike Vrabel as head coach and completely revamping their coaching staff and roster. Like the Washington Commanders last season, some have wondered if the Patriots will be the next 4-13 team to morph into a playoff contender overnight. Who knows what the postseason future holds for New England, but they could present a real problem to the current king of the AFC East. "To me, the team with the most upside is the Patriots," Wood said on The Jim Rome Show. "Now, will this be their year this year? I'm not sure. Can Drake Maye take that next step this year, or is he maybe a year or so away from potentially contending or going toe-to-toe with Josh Allen? I've always been a big Mike Vrabel guy. I like him, I like the way his teams play with toughness. Does he have the quarterback now to get them over the hump? Potentially.' The Patriots have the opportunity to make some noise as soon as this season. Second-year quarterback Drake Maye has already teased significant growth, and the offensive weapons around him have improved. Whether the offensive line has improved enough might ultimately make or break the team. Enough has changed for the Bills to start taking the Patriots seriously. This is not the same team they've big-brothered in recent years. Follow Patriots Wire on Twitter and Facebook. Ravens' Roquan Smith selected as one of NFL's best 40 players
Former Georgia Bulldogs earn lots of recognition in the NFL and Baltimore Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith became the fifth Georgia player to be named to the top 100, placing at No. 40. Smith and the rest of the top 100 are ranked by their NFL peers. Smith is one of the best active NFL players that played for the Georgia Bulldogs. Ever since he was drafted by the Chicago Bears with the eighth selection in the 2018 NFL draft, he's been one of the best middle linebackers in the league. Through seven seasons, Smith totaled 1,005 tackles, 63 tackles for loss, and 21.5 sacks. Smith became the youngest player in NFL history to reach 1,000 career tackles during the 2024 season. He ranks third among all Georgia NFL players in tackles and 10th in tackles for loss. He has three Pro Bowl selections, two second-team All-Pro selections and three first-team All-Pro selections. He's played with confidence for all of his career, so much so that after the Bears traded Smith to the Ravens in 2022, Smith negotiated his own contract extension, and he ended up signing a five-year, $100 million extension, the richest contract of any linebacker in the league at that point. In 2024, Smith was fifth in the league in combined tackles (154), earning four tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks on his way to his third first-team All-Pro and third Pro Bowl selection. Before his time in the NFL, Smith was just as good at Georgia. From 2015-17, Smith earned 252 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks. In 2017, his junior season, he finished 10th in Heisman voting and was named the 2017 SEC Defensive Player of the Year. Roquan Smith ranked No. 40 in NFL top 100 Georgia Bulldogs in the NFL 100 (more players still TBA) Follow UGAWire on Instagram or Threads!

49ers star drops 17 spots on NFL's Top 100 after strong 2024 campaign
With the start of the NFL's 2025 regular season still weeks away, this is still the perfect time for narratives and comparisons between active players in today's game, which is why the NFL's Top 100 is being unveiled through Sept. 1. On Friday, the league announced that San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle came in at No. 31. Kittle is the fourth member of his team to make it, joining offensive tackle Trent Williams (No. 45), defensive end Nick Bosa (No. 57) and running back Christian McCaffrey (No. 73). Interestingly, Kittle is actually down 17 spots after finishing at No. 14 on the 2024 edition of this list, despite catching 78 passes for 1,106 yards and eight touchdowns while making a sixth Pro Bowl and fourth All-Pro team this past season. In fewer games than the year prior, he had 13 more receptions for 86 more yards and two more scores. The rest of the Top 100 will be unveiled over the next few weeks, and 49ers fans will likely have their eyes all over the announcements, as this seems to be pretty low for arguably the best tight end in the NFL. We already know he won't be the top tight end on the list as Las Vegas' Brock Bowers hasn't appeared yet after his 112-reception, 1194-yard rookie campaign. If Kittle stays healthy, he'll have a great chance to move back up into the top 30 in 2026. Considering the current state of San Francisco's long list of injured pass-catchers for Brock Purdy to target, the tight end should have plenty of opportunities to prove himself again as he turns 32.
