Former WWE champion, 46, 'knows retirement is coming' in near future
Carlito is enjoying his second spell with WWE, but he knows retirement is approaching.
The 46-year-old wrestler returned to the company at Backlash Puerto Rico in 2023 and is a member of Judgment Day alongside the likes of Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio.
When it comes to winding down his career, he exclusively told Metro in Las Vegas before WrestleMania: 'You never know, you know what I mean?
'Your body sometimes let's you know. Who knows? But I know it's coming.'
In the meantime, the former United States Champion is focused on enjoying his time in the ring while he still can.
Reflecting on his current goals, he said: 'Just having fun, man. And with what time I've got left, just giving it whatever I can.'
Despite the thrills of being on a stacked roster with plenty of new opponents, Carlito isn't giving much thought to any potential dream matches before he hangs up his boots for the last time.
He admitted: 'I've passed that stage of 'Who would you like to work with?' I'm just here to have fun and work, and leave some body of work before I go.'
Before the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the eve of WrestleMania last month, Carlito hadn't wrestled on TV since November 2024.
However, he can frequently be seen helping his Judgment Day teammates out, or playing WWE 2K25 in the group's backstage clubhouse.
'I've been attempting to play it,' he joked to The Wrestling Classic in a recent interview.
He rated his gaming skills as 'terrible', but insisting he's 'working on it' – just don't ask him to play as himself in the game.
'No, I play as Roman Reigns, he's a 90-something,' he quipped.

Having made his return to the 2K franchise as a DLC character in WWE 2K25, this year's game sees him back in the fold on the main roster, 15 years after he was last in a WWE game.
Reflecting on coming back into the fold in WWE as a whole, he told Metro in Vegas: 'It's a whole new thing for me. A lot of the people aren't around anymore from my day, it's all these young kids now. It's interesting!'
When it comes to his attitude rejoining the company, Carlito insisted his outlook is always being 'ready to work'.
During an interview just days before that iconic Backlash comeback two years ago, he claimed 'nobody' had been in touch with him about a return.
'I'm open to whatever, any good offer from anywhere, it doesn't matter,' he said at the time.
'This is, nobody calls me so I don't sit by the phone either. If something comes up, great. If not, I keep doing what I'm doing.'
Fans were immediately blown away by the former Intercontinental Champion's physique as he made a surprise appearance at Backlash to help Bad Bunny beat Damian Priest in a Street Fight.
'It hasn't been as hard as people think,' he told us last year about his ridiculous body transformation. 'Just once you get in the mindset, I think you stick to it, and it's everything's kind of easy.'
Despite being born into the wrestling business – his father Carlos Colon is WWE Hall of Famer and a hero in their native Puerto Rico – Carlito admitted even he has days where he doesn't want to work out. More Trending
'At this point, you know, there's a lot of stuff that I don't want to do, but I don't even think about it now,' he shrugged.
While social media was flooded with posts about his epic transformation and calls for WWE to re-sign him – which they soon did – he was simply overjoyed with the reaction he got live in Puerto Rico.
'I didn't expect the response that I got. But it just shows that they've been – a lot of people have been waiting for me [back] in a WWE ring for the longest time,' he said. 'And, you know, I greatly appreciate that.'

Wrestling icon Ric Flair reveals cancer diagnosis
Ric Flair has revealed that his skin cancer has returned for the second time in three years. The wrestling legend, 76, revealed that he is set to begin treatment next week, only a few years after he was diagnosed the first time. 'It's the second time in three years that I've been dealing with skin cancer. 'I will be undergoing treatment next week,' he told People. The wrestler has struggled with ill health over the years and in 2017, he was hospitalised with early-stage kidney failure and close to congestive heart failure. It was revealed at the time that this was due to alcohol abuse, and his family members were reportedly told he only had a 20% chance of survival. Part of his bowel was removed, a pacemaker was inserted, and the star was put in a medically induced coma to heal. After recovery, Flair has referred to the time as 'My Terrible Health Crisis In 2017'. The WWE Hall of Famer, who is recognised as a 16-time world champion. He previously wrestled his 'last match' in July 2022, but has since made it clear he'd like to do more. More Trending Flair scared fans earlier this year with some thinking he 'wanted to die in the ring' as he revealed he wanted to wrestle in AEW. He claimed that his attempt to return to the ring was thwarted as boss Tony Khan snubbed the idea after learning he was 'on blood thinners'. 'He wouldn't let me in the ring,' Flair – who first retired in 2008 after losing to Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania – told the Five Star Podcast. Asked if he has 'one more match' left in him, the veteran wrestler said: 'Hell yeah, I do!' Got a story? Emmerdale's Charity makes breakthrough with Sarah but more sadness will follow
Yesterday in Emmerdale, Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) discovered Sarah Sugden's (Katie Hill) plan to have a baby through IVF. The youngster made this decision after being told she wouldn't be able to conceive naturally. Sarah has Fanconi anemia which will shorten her life and as a result of this, she's acting fast to make her dream of becoming a mother a reality. Charity's natural reaction when she learnt of Sarah's news was to assume she hadn't thought the idea through at all. Sarah is only 20, and Charity believed she hadn't considered the fact her baby would eventually grow up without a mother. The lack of support from her Gran upset Sarah, but she made it clear that she'd continue with the IVF regardless of what Charity thought. The news of Nate being murdered impacted Charity's view of Sarah's IVF in tonight's episode. With Nate's death in her mind, Charity said that they'd have to have a similar discussion with Sarah's child as Tracy telling Frankie that her dad wasn't ever coming back. It was certainly a low blow but again, that didn't sway Sarah. More Trending As Sarah and Noah (Jack Downham) left, Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) was the one to point out to Charity that Sarah has clearly thought a lot about her decision and after all, she's a grown adult – she fully intends to try and get pregnant regardless of what everyone else thinks. Alison Hammond shuts down bizarre pregnancy claim in best way possible
Alison Hammond has shut down speculation that she's pregnant in the most hilarious way possible after false rumours spread online. The Great British Bake-Off and This Morning host, 50, has reportedly been the subject of false AI-generated stories that are claiming she's with child. Alison has one child – her son Aidan who was born in 2005 – but she appears to be determined not to have any more if her latest comments are anything to go by. Naturally, Alison has responded to the pregnancy rumours with good spirit and humour, taking to social media to deny them in the best way possible. Posting to her Instagram account, which has 1.7 million followers, she said: 'Lots of AI stories online about me being pregnant, I can confirm I am not having a baby.' She continued: '[I'm definitely not pregnant] as I'm not sure my 50-year-old womb could take it. However, I do think we should all dance like Meghan.' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video The statement was accompanied by a video of Alison dancing around her living room after stuffing her dress with a giant pillow to mimic a pregnant belly. Referencing the already famous video of Meghan Markle dancing while heavily pregnant with daughter Princess Lillibet, Alison busted a move or two while waving her hands in the air like she just didn't care. In the video, which was taken four years ago, the heavily pregnant Duchess of Sussex is shown dancing in a hospital room to the sound of Starrkeisha song Baby Momma. Meghan posted on her Instagram to celebrate Lili's fourth birthday on Wednesday, writing: 'Four years ago today, this also happened. 'Both of our children were a week past their due dates – so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn't work – there was only one thing left to do!' The happy video has (of course) drawn some criticism on social media after Meghan was seen to twerk at one point, with online users criticising her behaviour. For Metro, Kirsty Ketley argued back: '[The video] shows something powerful: joy. A woman, supported by her partner, using music and laughter to cope with one of the most intense moments of their life.' Commenting on Alison's video, Bryony Gordon called Alison 'our queen' while Lisa Snowden applauded, celebrated, and laughed at the clip with a group of emojis. More Trending Scottish radio presenter Jenni Falconer commented saying 'You are just brilliant' and added three big love hearts in her message to Alison. Alison's son Aidan, now 19, was born in 2005 when the Big Weekend presenter was engaged to Noureddine Boufaied – the couple split in 2014. She confessed, 'I felt that failure with [Noureddine] when we broke up, but he moved on and has three other kids now and they are part of our life,' but revealed that they have successfully co-parented over the years.
