Xaver Schlager out injured for several weeks
Xaver Schlager out injured for several weeks
RB Leipzig midfielder Xaver Schlager will be missing for several weeks due to suffering another injury with the national team.
Schlager has gained a muscle injury in his left thigh, which was the result of an MRI examination in Leipzig.
Marco Rose recently welcomed Schlager back to the Leipzig team after recovering from his second knee injury in ten months to play against Borussia Dortmund before the recent international fixtures but did not make an appearance from the bench in that match.

Instead, he was given some minutes from the bench in Austria's 1-1 draw against Serbia in the Nations League 1st leg fixture, as he entered the pitch in the 77th minute.
This now seems to have been a return that was too soon for the midfielder.
'The new injury hits us very hard, especially Xaver himself' said Marcel Schäfer, RB Leipzig's sporting director.
'He worked extremely hard for his comeback and gave everything to be able to help us with his qualities in the final spurt of the season.
'He was supposed to get his last match fitness with the national team, but now he is forced to take another break. We give Xaver all the support he needs now. Of course, it's annoying that we have another injury to report after an international break.'

Schlager has made just four appearances in the Bundesliga this season and will be aiming for a return before the 2024/25 campaign comes to an end with just eight Bundesliga games remaining.
His team are also in the DFB-Pokal semi-final against Stuttgart next Wednesday, with the final taking place on 24th May, which Schlager could return for if recovery is successful.

Bayern Munich rolls to 10-0 romp at FIFA Club World Cup — over a bunch of amateurs
A David versus Goliath match is something you'd expect to see in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup or the FA Cup, but in the Club World Cup? Probably not. But that's what happened on the second day of the tournament, taking place across the United States, when Bayern Munich – in this case Goliath – decimated Auckland City – David in this particular analogy and an amateur club from New Zealand – 10-0. The Bundesliga powerhouse outshot Auckland City 31-1 and Jamal Musiala, who entered the match in the 61st minute as a sub, scored a hat-trick. Thomas Müller, Kingsley Coman and Michael Olise each scored two goals apiece as well in the Bayern Munich victory. 4 Bayern Munich defeated Auckland City, 10-0, at TQL Stadium, Cincinnati, Ohio, REUTERS For anyone wondering how an amateur club is taking part in the Club World Cup, which is being billed as a competition between the best soccer clubs across the globe, they are one of the top teams in the Oceania Champions League. They've won the Champions League 13 times and in previous iterations of the Club World Cup, they've appeared several times. What has also helped them make an appearance in the tournament this year – the first under a revamped format that has expanded the Club World Cup to 32 teams – is that New Zealand's two professional teams, Wellington Phoenix and Auckland FC, play in Australia's A-League. 4 Bayern Munich forward #25 Thomas Mueller celebrates with teammates after scoring a goal during the Club World Cup 2025 Group C football match against New Zealand's Auckland City at the TQL stadium in Cincinnati on June 15, 2025 AFP via Getty Images And since New Zealand is a member of the Oceania Football Confederation and Australia is a member of the Asian Football Confederation, Wellington Phoenix and Auckland FC are barred from competing in continental club competitions for either confederation. This has set the stage for Auckland City, which features players with traditional day jobs, to compete against some of the biggest clubs in the sport. 4 Bayern Munich forward #25 Thomas Mueller (2ndR) celebrates with teammates after scoring a goal during the Club World Cup 2025 Group C football match against New Zealand's Auckland City at the TQL stadium in Cincinnati on June 15, 2025 AFP via Getty Images 'Every [previous] Club World Cup has just involved preparing for the one game,' Auckland City keeper Conor Tracey told ESPN. 'That's unique in itself, and it's been great. But to be guaranteed three of those massive games, and, you could arguably say, against bigger clubs, it's fantastic. 'We all went to the club rooms to watch the draw live as a team, and watching us draw Bayern Munich straight away was ridiculous. My brother turned to me and laughed and said, 'Haha! Harry Kane is going to score 10 past ya!'' When he's not turning away shots on goal, Tracey is a supervisor at a veterinary supply warehouse. Auckland City's Jordan Vale is a schoolteacher and Haris Zeb works as a delivery guy. 4 FC Bayern Munich forward Kingsley Coman (11) celebrates scoring their fourth goal during a group stage match of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup at TQL Stadium. It's like I'm leading a double life!' Auckland will have two more matches in the group stage with their next contest against Portuguese side Benfica on Friday and Argentine club Boca Juniors on June 24.

Bayern Munich routs Auckland 10-0 in Club World Cup as fans unfurl banner to 'Smash FIFA!'
CINCINNATI (AP) — Bayern Munich romped to a 10-0 victory over Auckland City in its Club World Cup opener on Sunday as Jamal Musiala had a hat trick in a 17-minute span of the second half in front of a crowd that unfurled a banner urging to 'Smash FIFA!' while accusing the governing body of mismanagement. Thomas Müller, Kingsley Coman and Michael Olise scored two goals each for the Bundesliga champions, who went ahead on Coman's goal six minutes in. Bayern had a 17-1 advantage in shots on target. Musiala, a 22-year-old midfielder, replaced Harry Kane in the 61st minute, making his first appearance since April 4 after recovering from a hamstring injury. He scored in the 67th minute, converted a penalty kick in the 73rd and scored again in the 84th. Before a crowd of 21,152 at TQL Stadium, fans displayed a red-and-white banner referring the 2015 raid by U.S. law enforcement at a Zurich hotel that led to the arrest of many soccer officials: '10 Years Baur Au Lac — World Football Is More Poorly Governed than Before! Smash FIFA!' Defender Jonathan Tah started in his Bayern debut following his transfer from Bayer Leverkusen. Defender Dayot Upamecano entered in the 61st in his first appearance since March 23 for Germany after recovering from a knee injury. Key moment Bayern built a 4-0 lead by midway through the first half when Sacha Boey scored in the 18th, Olise in the 20th and Coman in the 21st. Müller, the 35-year-old who plans to leave Bayern this summer, added a goal in the 45th minute and Olise made it 6-0 in the third minute of first-half stoppage time. Takeaways Bayern figures to be tested more against Boca Juniors on Friday and Benfica on June 24. Carrying a huge goal deficit, Auckland faces Benfica on Friday and closes Group C against Boca Juniors. What they said 'I think today was a great match for everyone. It was very assertive and offensive.' — Vincent Kompany, Bayern Munich coach. 'It is an unbelievable challenge to play against one of the world's best teams, and I think as the goals went in, obviously you get down on yourself and that gets more challenging. We did try our very hardest to keep them out. ' — Angus Kilkolly, Auckland City forward.
