The exact emotional moment Prince George realised he would become King one day
Royal expert and historian Marlene Koenig tells Us Weekly that George is "undoubtedly aware of his future role" as the country's monarch, saying, "Barring any accidents or health issues, George will not be king for some years. He is second in line — as his father is the heir apparent — and his grandfather is the king."
As for when George was formally "told" about being King, Koenig says "proper awareness" came after Queen Elizabeth II's passing in September 2022. Since then, George has "taken part in numerous public events" and Prince William and Kate Middleton likely spoke about "these changes" with him.
As she put it, "The Coronation provided the young prince with the knowledge that he, too, would one day be crowned in a Coronation ceremony. George may be a 12-year-old schoolboy who loves sports, but he is most certainly aware of his future."
Meanwhile, royal expert Robert Jobson says Prince William's been teaching George about "responsibilities as heir to the throne" which has been a gradual processes so it doesn't "freak him out."
As for his grandfather's coronation, where Prince George was a page, Jobson says "It gave him a real sense of the grandeur and all the expectation. I thought that was quite important actually for George."
