AGRA: Indian women's cricket team member and UP dy SP
Deepti Sharma
, 28, has accused fellow state player Arushi Goel of duping her of over Rs 25 lakh and breaking into her Agra flat to steal valuables, including gold and silver jewellery and Rs 2 lakh in foreign currency.
Arushi, when approached for comment, declined to speak on the matter. Arushi, 27, a member of the UP women's team and a junior clerk with Indian Railways in Agra division, and Deepti -- captain of UP Warriorz for the current WPL season -- have played together in the domestic circuit in which Arushi was part of the UP Warriorz squad.
ACP (Agra Sadar), Sukanya Sharma, said, "Deepti's brother, Sumit Sharma, approached the Sadar police station with the complaint.
Prima facie, we found some truth in the complaint and filed an FIR under BNS sections 305 (a) (theft), 331 (3) (house breaking), 316 (2) (criminal breach of trust) and 352 (insulting someone with the intent to provoke a breach of peace)."
The FIR said: "The two cricketers became close over the years through their association in the same team. Then, Arushi and her parents started exploiting Deepti financially, citing family emergencies and financial distress."

Deepti's brother further stated in his complaint: "My sister lost over Rs 25 lakh in the two-year period. When she confronted Arushi, the latter refused to return the amount." The complaint added that Arushi broke into Deepti's Agra flat on April 22, replaced the original door lock with a new one and "absconded with jewellery as well as over $2,500 USD (approx Rs 2 lakh)". The break-in came to light when Sumit said he tried to access the flat, but was unable to get in.
"The incident has caused significant distress to Deepti, who is at the moment preoccupied with her training commitments and is preparing for the Team India camp in Bengaluru ahead of England tour," he added.

Elderly man, wife found killed in duplex flat after 2 visitors leave; cops suspect gain for murder

Hyderabad: An elderly couple was murdered by two unidentified persons in their duplex apartment in Rajendranagar on Thursday. Police suspect it to be a case of murder for gain. According to the police, the deceased were identified as Shaik Abdullah (77), a retired bank employee, and his wife Rizwana (70), a retired polytechnic college lecturer. They were found dead with multiple stab injuries by the building's watchman on Friday. According to police officials, Abdullah had sustained seven stab injuries on his body, including the chest, abdomen, and leg. Based on the watchman's statement, the Rajendranagar police booked a case under Section 103 (murder) of BNS and launched a manhunt for the accused. "As per the watchman's statement, two people had come to visit the couple at around 5.10 pm on Thursday. They said they were physiotherapists. It was after taking permission from the house owner that the two were allowed inside. One of them was wearing a mask, and the other was dressed in burqa," said a police official. "Five minutes later, the person wearing the mask came out, and the other person left the house about 30 minutes later and came down from the sixth floor. " The couple had moved into the Rajendranagar residence about a month ago and were living alone. The police are yet to ascertain the extent of the loss. "The house, including the cupboard, was found ransacked. Since there was no third person, we cannot confirm whether any property was stolen. Only imitation ornaments were found at the site, and no gold was recovered. Until the culprits are caught, we cannot ascertain anything," said D Srinivas, assistant commissioner of police (Rajendranagar division), reiterating that they suspect it to be a murder for gain. The couple lived on the fifth and sixth floors of the building, while the remaining portions had been rented out. They have four children — two residing in the US and two in London. "The murder came to light at 11 am on Friday when the watchman went to the victims' house. Finding the fifth floor locked, he went to the sixth floor, where the lock was open. From there, he came downstairs and found the couple murdered," the police official added. Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with Eid wishes , messages , and quotes !

Drop gates to be set up at 20 spots to prevent entry, exit of criminals: IG

1 2 3 South Chotanagpur zone inspector general Manoj Koushik has joined the office recently following a major reshuffle in the police administration. Among the major issues in districts under his jurisdiction are cybercrime, extremism, drug peddling and organized crime. He talks to TOI's Sanjay Sahay about the plans and measures for overall crime control. Excerpts... What measures are underway to eliminate extremism from South Chotanagpur which includes a Maoist hotbed in West Singhbhum district? Chaibasa (West Singhbhum), where top Maoist leaders are hiding, is the only core area of the rebels in the state. State police and CRPF are conducting joint operations to sanitize the area. In some districts like Ranchi, Khunti, Loharadga and Gumla, the splinter groups of Maoists have a presence but their activities have dwindled considerably. The active groups are mainly criminals using the name of the rebels to extort money. Most of these anti-social elements are identified and actions are being taken against them. I also request people to inform the police if there are extortion calls from organised crime groups. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Azioni Italia fino a 2€ BG SAXO Scopri di più Undo Cybercrime is on the rise. What steps police have taken to curb it? Awareness is necessary to save citizens from falling victim to cybercriminals. The elderly, who are soft targets of such criminals, should be also focused. I have instructed Ranchi police to improve their achievement against cybercriminals with the help of the Pratibimb app. Directions have been issued for registration of cases as soon as they are reported and for immediate action. We will also try to take financial institutions on board for the speedy recovery of money cheated from the victims. What steps will be taken to address the public grievances? In my meeting with Ranchi police recently, I instructed them to ensure speedy disposal of public complaints lodged with the centralized public grievance redressal and monitoring system. This system will be on vigil in other districts, too. We are planning to give a copy of the inquiry report to the complainants if it does not involve confidential information. The citizens will have the option of disputing the report at higher levels. What are your instructions to prevent crime in the state capital? I have asked the police personnel to identify entry and exit points of Ranchi city and build infrastructure so that it could be sealed immediately when a crime is committed. So far, around 20 spots have been selected in this regard. We will set up drop gates at these places. The step will also enable regular checking, which will prevent inter-district and inter-state movement of smugglers and other criminal groups. Warring calls for police reforms, says Cong won't forgive or forget

Ludhiana: Punjab Congress president and MP from Ludhiana, Amrinder Singh Raja Warring slammed AAP for the Vigilance summons issued to Bharat Bhushan Ashu and described the governance of AAP as a "circus instead of a sarkaar. " Warring, who reached Ludhiana to address mediapersons on the issue, said that the Congress would neither forget nor forgive "any sins of omission and commission being committed by this government." Warring said that the summons issued to Ashu amid the election campaign showed that AAP had admitted its defeat and was now acting in sheer frustration. "The cat is out of the bag as both Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann are feeling desperate and frustrated about the imminent loss in the elections," he observed. Warring asked why the VB needed to issue the summons in the midst of the campaign and why they could not wait till the elections. He claimed that earlier, cases were registered against party workers and councillors to threaten and intimidate them so that they would not campaign for Ashu. However, he said that Congressmen would not be intimidated. Warring also warned officers against "dancing like puppets to the tunes of AAP," saying that they would be held accountable in about one year. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo "We will neither forget, nor shall we forgive or spare you," warned Warring. Saying that Punjab had become a "police state," Warring emphasised the need for comprehensive police reforms to fix accountability. He said that a commission would be set up as soon as the Congress formed government in 2027 to verify the cases, and the fake FIRs would be cancelled immediately. He also said that officers found to have registered fake FIRs would be dismissed instantly. Warring declared that about 50 DSPs, 35 SPs, and a few more officers in Punjab "deserve to be dismissed immediately." He suggested that the commission would identify all such officers. Earlier at 1.30pm, Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu, along with Kapurthala MLA Rana Gurjeet Singh, former minister Pargat Singh and former MLA Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu, addressed a PC over the issue at the party's election office. By 2.15pm, Warring, along with former MLAs Surinder Dawar, Rakesh Pandey, Sanjay Talwar, Kuldeep Vaid, Simarjit Singh Bains, Balwinder Bains, Jassi Khangura, and Capt Sandeep Sandhu, besides others, addressed another PC at a hotel near Bhai Bala Chowk, a few metres away from Congress's election office. When questioned about having two PCs over the same issue, Warring said that he was unaware if Ashu was also conducting a press conference. However, he said that the party was united when it came to fighting with the opposition.
