Matt O'Riley transfer uncertainty as Everton 'keen' on ex-Celtic star

It's claimed the Premier League club would be interested in signing the Brighton midfielder just one year on from his move from Celtic. O'Riley endured a staggered season for Brighton with injuries impacting his availability and limited minutes when fit under Fabian Hurzeler. Sky Sports now reports Everton would be interested in a deal for O'Riley should Brighton sanction a transfer exit this summer. According to the outlet, it is unclear whether Brighton would allow a deal and be willing to sell the midfielder. It's thought O'Riley is viewed as a player prepared to make a telling contribution at the club next season. O'Riley notched two goals and three assists in his debut season in the Premier League. He also started six of the last eight games for the club last season. Read more: It comes after reports O'Riley is a transfer target for clubs in Italy, Germany and sides in the Premier League. Fabrizio Romano posted last month: "Matt O'Riley could be one to watch in the summer as Brighton midfielder is now attracting interest from Serie A, Bundesliga, Premier League clubs. "Approaches started eyeing an opportunity on the market to try sign the talented central midfielder." A potential O'Riley transfer this summer could have consequences for Celtic. Indeed, the Parkhead club were said to have been given a 10 per cent sell-on fee when they sold the 24-year-old last year.

And Portuguese compatriot Neves is keen for Fernandes to join him. Asked about conversations with him, the former Wolves captain told O Jogo: "I recommend any player who is in the national team. "We have a lot of talent. We are lucky in that aspect. A small country, but with excellent players, just yesterday four won the Champions League. That makes any child dream. Bruno Fernandes enjoys dinner with Al-Hilal 'secret agent' Joao Cancelo as he faces Man Utd exit decision His comments come after Fernandes was spotted having dinner with Cancelo. It is likely a reunion at Al-Hilal was on the menu as fans think the old Manchester City star was "playing agent". Asked if Man Utd's post-season friendly against Hong Kong last Friday was Fernandes' farewell game, Ruben Amorim replied: 'I don't know for sure, nobody knows, but I don't think so. 'He is seeing us taking some actions to change all the things and I think that is all that he wants to stay. 'He's saying 'no' to a lot of things, but it shows that he wants to win. Rangers are facing a battle to hang on to one of their key players this summer after transfer interest from the English Premier League emerged over the weekend. Everton are believed to have 'identified' 23-year-old midfielder Mohamed Diomande for transfer after his impressive season at Ibrox, with to a new report from the Daily Express claiming the Toffees have 'serious intent to drive up the table' after ending last season strongly following the return of Scottish head coach David Moyes. This has led them to eye up a potential offer for Ivorian midfielder Diomande, with the Rangers star targeted after he provided 12 goal contributions in all competitions last season, while it is understood Everton are also attracted by the player's versatility in the centre of the park. The Merseyside outfit are thought to also be interested in strengthening their options at right-back and right-wing, with the club hoping to tie up deals as early as possible during the summer transfer window, potential leaving ex-Rangers academy product Nathan Patterson in limbo over his future. Rangers, who are set to enter a new era themselves following the recent take over from Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises, will be reluctant to lose the Ivory Coast international who has been a key figure for the club since joining from Nordsjaelland in January 2024. Originally signing for the club on loan, Diomande joined the Light Blues permanently last summer in a deal worth a reported £4.3million. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Heading in the opposite direction, new Rangers sporting director Kevin Thelwell will officially begin his new role at Ibrox this morning after leaving Everton, just four days on from confirmation of the club's takeover. With major changes expected at the club this summer, Thelwell's first job will be to come to a conclusion on his preferred managerial candidate alongside new club chairman Cavenagh, with a decision likely to be made this week.
