Celina Jaitly and Emraan Hashmi starrer Jawani Diwani: A Youthful Joyride was released in 2006. The actress is still angry at the makers for diminishing the female lead's story.
Celina Jaitly has called out the makers of her 2006 film 'Jawai Diwani: A Youthful Joyride', co-starring Emraan Hashmi. She said that much like her character Roma Fernandez in the film, she too felt betrayed as an actor. Criticizing the makers, she recalled being promised a stronger character arc, but instead, her role was sidelined and 'pushed aside' as the story focused entirely on Emraan Hashmi's character, the 'serial kisser.' She clarified that her criticism wasn't aimed at her 'amazing' co-star Emraan, but at the makers' mentality, who diluted the woman's voice for commercial convenience.
In her recent Instagram post, Celina Jaitly shared a video clip from Jawani Diwani, featuring her and Emraan Hashmi. 'If I had directed this film, I would have told it from the perspective of the heart, from a place of raw, real emotion. I would never have allowed HER : ROMA FERNANDEZ to settle for someone who hurt her, used her, and diminished her worth. I would have honoured her journey, just as I was promised during the director's narration. But just like my character was betrayed in the story, I too was betrayed, as an actor" she wrote.
Celina further added, 'What was meant to be her story became all about him, the serial kisser, while the woman who was kissed and believed it was love was pushed aside. This is not against my amazing co-star, this is against the mentality of the makers at the time, who chose spectacle over sincerity, and diluted a woman's voice for commercial convenience."
Jawani Diwani, directed by Manish Sharma, starred Emraan Hashmi, Celina Jaitly, Hrishitaa Bhatt, Tiku Talsania and Mahesh Manjrekar. Known for its catchy songs, and cheeky humour, the film tells the tale of an aspiring singer who finds himself torn between love, ambition, and complex relationships. The movie garnered mixed reviews, with specific criticism directed at the development of the female lead's storyline.
Best known for her roles in early 2000s hits like Janasheen, No Entry, and Thank You, Celina was last seen in a lead role in the 2011 romantic comedy Thank You. She made a brief special appearance in the 2012 film Will You Marry Me?, and later appeared in the 2020 short film Season's Greetings.

Did Alia Bhatt Just Confirm Her Alpha Spy Cameo In War 2? Here's Why Fans Think So

Alia Bhatt hints at possible Alpha cameo in War 2 with a cryptic Instagram post. Fans speculate after her 'See you on 14th' message goes viral. With War 2 gearing up for its grand release on August 14, the trailer of the much-anticipated YRF Spy Universe instalment dropped earlier today, promising explosive action, cinematic scale, and a dose of patriotic fervour. Starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, and directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film is already drawing massive attention — but it was Alia Bhatt's cheeky reaction that sent fans into a frenzy. Taking to her Instagram story, Alia re-shared the War 2 trailer and wrote, 'Mazedaaaaaar 🔥🔥🔥 See you on the 14th. In a cinema near meee." While the message may seem like a routine show of support at first glance, the specific mention of August 14 and her playful tone have only intensified speculation about her cameo in the film's post-credit scene. The buzz around Alia's entry into the YRF Spy Universe has been swirling for months, particularly with the announcement of Alpha — YRF's first-ever female-led spy film, co-starring Sharvari Wagh, set to release on December 25, 2025. According to a report by India Today, both Alia and Sharvari are said to appear in a mysterious post-credit cameo in War 2 — one that subtly teases the narrative of Alpha. 'It's short, yes, but it has tension, mystery, and a hint of what these two women are capable of. It's not just a cameo — it's a setup," a source told the outlet. Another insider revealed that the cameo was filmed under tight security earlier this year, with only a handful of crew members on set to preserve the secrecy. While Yash Raj Films has not officially confirmed Alia and Sharvari's involvement in War 2, fans are already connecting the dots — and Alia's Instagram story has only added fuel to the fire. If true, this would mark a strategic expansion of the YRF Spy Universe, tying the past (Tiger, Pathaan, War) with the future (Alpha) through seamless narrative integration. Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha is expected to mark a new era in Bollywood's action genre, showcasing female spies at the centre of a sprawling espionage saga. As the release of War 2 draws closer, all eyes are not just on Hrithik and Jr NTR — but also on the shadows, where the Alpha spies may quietly be preparing to make their move.
