‘What a lunatic': Jackie O admits to controversial bathroom act

News.com.au2 days ago
Jackie 'O' Henderson has revealed she's very much guilty of 'bathroom camping', a phenomenon Gen Z is obsessed with.
You might think going to the bathroom at a social event, lingering in the toilet and doing some doom scrolling on your phone doesn't have a name, but you'd be wrong.
Gen Z loves to come up with names for everything, and in 2025, that is now called 'bathroom camping'.
To be clear bathroom camping can also be something you do in your own home for comfort or if you're just desperate for privacy.
Henderson explained on The Kylie and Jackie O Show that she does get 'overwhelmed' at social functions and takes solace in the loo.
'It becomes – when there's too many people I don't know, I get a bit overwhelmed,' she explained.
The radio star's co-host, Sandilands, seemed genuinely puzzled by the idea of hanging out in a bathroom.
'So what? Are you worried about them looking at you?' he asked.
'No. It is a brain drain, like sometimes it becomes very draining for me,' she explained.
That didn't seem to clear up any confusion for Sandilands who continued to pepper her with questions.
'So you can't handle being around normal people?' he asked.
'I can't handle being around a large group of people where I have to small talk a lot. I hate that,' she explained.
'So that becomes a brain drain. And so what I do is I go to the bathroom and I just sit there and have time out, and I just chill.'
Sandilands remained baffled.
'What fun! You'd never forget to invite Jackie to a party,' he joked.
Henderson kept trying to explain, saying sometimes in social situations she just needs 'alone time' for a little recharge, but Sandilands remained dubious.
'What a lunatic,' he mused.
'I thought that too. I thought I was a lunatic, but apparently this is quite the thing,' she argued.
'It now got a name for it. People do this. I'm not alone. It's called bathroom camping.'
Henderson's not wrong it certainly is a very big thing.
The phrase 'bathroom camping' has garnered over 10 million views on TikTok.
People online are also divided on the act with a lot of people arguing it is 'rude' to do when you're out in public.
'Bathroom camping in public is crazy and inconsiderate,' one noted.
'I'm embarrassed by how selfish people from my generation are,' another said.
'Bathroom camping outside your house is so rude if there's one bathroom,' someone mused.
On the other hand, others argue that it is perfectly okay to take time for yourself when you need to.
'Such a relatable concept! Sometimes, we all need a little escape to recharge and gather our thought,' one argued.
'It is one place we don't get bothered,' someone else pointed out.
'I used to lie on the bathroom floor for hours. It felt so peaceful and calming for some odd reasons,' another shared.
'People think I'm crazy but I swear any bathroom is my safe space,' someone else noted.

Netflix crocodile wrangler Matt Wright pleads not guilty to perverting justice over Chris Wilson's fatal NT crash

Celebrity crocodile wrangler Matt Wright has pleaded not guilty to the attempting to pervert the course of justice, three years after the death of co-star Chris Wilson. The Netflix formally entered pleas of not guilty at the Northern Territory Supreme Court in Darwin on Monday, with a trial set to get underway on Wednesday July 30. The charges relate to the fatal helicopter crash in remote western Arnhem Land in February 2022 which killed Mr Wilson, a close friend of Mr Wright. Mr Wilson is alleged to have been suspended underneath the Robinson R44 helicopter on an 100-foot sling on a crocodile egg collecting mission at the time of the crash. The pilot, 28-year-old Sebastian Robinson, suffered permanent injuries as a result of the crash. Mr Wright has strenuously denied the allegations and will return to court on Wednesday. He was supported at court on Monday by his wife, Kaia Wright. Mr Wright is most well known for his role hosting National Geographic's Outback Wrangler, as well as the Netflix series Wild Croc Territory in 2022.

'Following extensive inquiries, police arrested a 66-year-old man at a home at Toukley,' a statement from NSW Police read. Everett spent Saturday night behind bars ahead of his hearing at Parramatta Local Court on Sunday. He pleaded not guilty to the charge. His next court appearance is scheduled on September 3 at Wyong Local Court. has contacted Everett for comment. Everett, who was granted bail during the hearing, reportedly denied the charge when he was approached outside court by Nine News. Everett, whose TV career began in 1998 as an interior designer on Changing Rooms, has fallen on hard times in recent years, opening up in 2022 about selling his prized possessions to make ends meet. Everett, who was best known for hosting the Channel 10 daytime cooking show Ready Steady Cook for five years until his abrupt axing in 2011, told 4BC Afternoons at the time he had been auctioning off his personal items just 'to survive'. 'There's been a lot of sales on my behalf. I'm selling anything … (I'm) not down to the garage sale yet, but I've been selling off a lot of things,' Everett candidly said. 'It really hasn't been an easy time. It hasn't. The entertainment industry, a lot of my friends far less fortunate than I have had it really, really bad.' Host Rob McKnight then asked if Everett was struggling financially, 'You literally are at the point where you're selling stuff off?' 'I'm very open about that. You've got to survive somehow,' Everett answered. 'They're only possessions. Funnily enough, during this Covid time, sales were big. Auctions were huge. So it turned out that it was a good time to sell. 'It's kept me going, I can tell you. So thank you everyone for buying.' Everett last appeared on Aussie screens on season 3 of The Celebrity Apprentice Australia in 2013. In a wide-ranging interview with in 2019, Everett said he was doing it 'a bit tough financially', and was finding it difficult to get his foot back in the door in showbiz. 'When you're not getting an income and you're just using what you've got, it's very dire, let me tell you,' he said. 'It worries me too. I don't have an agent. I'm not the best at seeking work. I don't want to annoy anyone I know in the industry and ask if there are any jobs going. 'I'm not doing very much. I do a little bit of charity here and there but not very much else at all. I feel I still have a lot to offer and I want to offer it.' Despite resurrecting Ready Steady Cook 's ratings when he replaced Nick Stratford as host in 2006, Everett was brutally sacked before Christmas in 2010. 'I was at the airport about to leave on a trip and I got a phone call from Rory Callaghan (who was the chief executive officer of Southern Star Productions at the time) saying that I think I'm greater than the show,' Everett told us. 'I said [to him], 'I am a large part of the show, but I just want the best for the show'. 'I said, 'If my ego was so great and I was greedy I would have asked for a pay rise', which I hadn't had in three years, even with the great ratings we had. 'He said, 'While you're away, we're going to interview new people for the show'.' Everett lived in Redfern for several years, having bought a home in the Sydney suburb in 2004. He later sold it for $1.4 million in 2012.

Hamish Blake's cake night stuns fans once again

Media personality Hamish Blake has won hearts once again after documenting his attempt at making a birthday cake for one of his children. Blake shares two children, Sonny, 11, and Rudy, eight, with his wife, beauty guru Zoë Foster Blake. Every year, on the eve of one of his children's birthdays, the 43-year-old father documents his endeavour to make a birthday cake, with Rudy's eighth birthday was no exception. It's a Blake family tradition that's become something that many Australians look forward to, with brands and fans alike weighing in. 'This is our Roman Empire,' one social media user added. One commented: 'This is our Super Bowl.' 'She's going to be a spectacular cake,' another added. One social media user said: 'I love the algorithm of Instagram. I don't see your face on my feed at all until it's cake night.' 'Cake night is life, excited to see the LOL cakewalk extravaganza,' another commented. Ahead of the activity, the Lego Masters star took to Instagram to wish people a good morning and 'Happy cake night'. 'Tomorrow is my daughter's eighth birthday party. Tonight, it is cake night,' he said. 'The brief is not impossible — it's a doll. They're called LOL dolls. If you've got young kids, you will know what they are. 'If you don't, good for you. It's a doll with a pretty big head and massive eyes.' Blake said the cake would require a runway, lights, a rainbow plait and an off-the-shoulder shirt. A swinging handbag was also part of the ensemble. Blake said the hardest part was that he was filming with Andy Lee in Melbourne and needed to fly back to Sydney, where he lived, at 5.30pm — which meant the cake process would be starting later than usual. But, the hands-on dad delivered and documented the while journey. He started by making the dolls head and attaching it to a pole, which would later form the body. Blake attached it to the store-bought cake, which he had iced, and then started on the hair. The fondant kept breaking on it. 'I thought it would be like a hair plait, but it's not hair and it's not behaving like hair so we're just going to move onto other stuff,' he said, according to Mamamia. Blake moved back to the runway and the outfit, which was a little smaller than intended. He remedied the issue and pushed along. Eventually, he came back to the hair. It did prompt a slight panic but he pulled through. While the cake did look like a doll, Blake was an extra harsh critic on himself and declared it was only 'Okay'. Finally, at 3am, he was officially done. 'Thanks for hanging in there gang. Happy birthday to the greatest daughter I could imagine,' he added.
