A judge is scheduled to rule today on whether to grant bail to three men facing terrorism charges in an alleged plot to forcibly seize land in the Quebec City area.
Quebec court Judge René de la Sablonnière heard evidence and arguments over three days.
Simon Angers-Audet, 24, Raphaël Lagacé, 25, and Marc-Aurèle Chabot, 24, face charges of facilitating a terrorist activity, and other charges related to the illegal storage of firearms and possession of explosives and prohibited devices.

There is a publication ban on details of the bail hearing, which heard from an RCMP officer, the three accused and several of their family members.

A fourth accused — Matthew Forbes, 33 — is facing weapons charges and was granted bail under a lengthy list of conditions that include wearing a GPS tracking bracelet.
The Canadian Armed Forces have said Forbes and Chabot were active members of the military at the time of their arrest.

Motorcyclist killed in crash with commercial truck: Langley RCMP
Mounties in Langley say speed was a factor in a crash that killed a motorcyclist on Highway 1 Sunday night. First responders were called to the westbound lanes of the highway between 264th and 248th streets just before 8:30 p.m., after a collision involving a motorcycle and a commercial truck travelling in the same direction, according to police. 'Despite the rapid arrival of BC Emergency Health Services and Township of Langley Fire crews, and the administration of life-saving measures, the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene,' the Langley RCMP wrote in a news release Monday. Collision analysts, B.C. Highway Patrol and the local RCMP detachment were called in to investigate and the highway was closed for several hours as a result, but has since re-opened. 'Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the individual who lost their life,' Sgt. Zynal Sharoom said, in the release. Police asked anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash camera video to call the detachment at 604-532-3200.

3 facing smuggling-related charges after 44 migrants intercepted in Quebec: CBSA
Canada Border Services Agency says it has arrested and charged three alleged smugglers after police intercepted a truck carrying 44 foreign nationals in southern Quebec over the weekend. CBSA says RCMP and Quebec provincial police intercepted the vehicle with dozens of people aboard near Stanstead, Que. overnight between Saturday to Sunday. The agency says Ogulcan Mersin, 25, and Dogan Alakus and Firat Yuksek, both 31, have been charged with inducing, aiding or abetting someone to commit an offence under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act as well as assisting people to enter Canada outside of a designated customs office.
