Famous chef dumped boyfriend's body parts all over holiday resort to hide sick murder
A YouTube chef dismembered his partner and disposed of his body in plastic bags in a horrific murder.
Daniel Sancho Bronchalo, 31, confessed to murdering his plastic surgeon boyfriend, Edwin Arrieta Arteaga, on a Thai party island.
The shamed chef also admitted to dismembering Dr Arteaga's body last August when their argument over "sex and money" reached a boiling point. It comes after a woman, 20, was found dead on bus with 26 iPhones glued to her body.
The couple had been holidaying in Koh Pha Ngnan - known for its all-night Full Moon Parties - when the crime took place. Police discovered parts of Arteaga's body at a landfill in Koh Phangan in early August 2024. Around the same time, Bronchalo went to the police to report that Dr Arteaga, 44, was missing.
Bronchalo, the son of two Spanish film stars, initially claimed at his trial that the two had a fight after Dr Arteaga allegedly attempted to sexually assault him.
He then alleged that the Colombian surgeon fell as the fight escalated, hitting his head on a bathtub before losing consciousness and dying.
Bronchalo had denied premeditated murder - but then confessed to chillingly dismembering Dr Arteaga's body and throwing his lifeless remains into the sea. He led police to seven sites around the island, where he disposed of Dr Arteagae's body in plastic bags.
CCTV footage obtained by police showed the chef buying a knife, rubber gloves, waste bags, and cleaning chemicals at a convenience store prior to Arrieta's death, which prosecutors argued strengthened the claim of premeditated murder.
According to the police, Bronchalo then confessed to the murder and stated that he planned it because Dr Arteaga threatened to disgrace him and his family by revealing their sexual relationship.
The shamed YouTube chef was sentenced to life in prison. Initially, he was given the death penalty, but the Koh Samui provincial court decided to give him a life sentence instead due to his co-operation during the trial, according to local police officer Paisan Sangthep.
Bronchalo initially also received a four-month prison sentence for concealing or damaging a body, but this was reduced to two months as he admitted to the horrific act.
He as also ordered to pay 4 million baht (£89,000) in damages to Dr Arteaga's family.
Daniel Sancho Bronchalo is the son of renowned Spanish actors Rodolfo Sancho Aguirre and Silvia Bronchalo, both 50. They were present at the Koh Samui Provincial Court where their son was sentenced last summer.
Bronchalo's case caused a stir in Spain, and HBO has produced a Spanish-language documentary based on the chilling events.
Last August, it was reported that the chef had dismembered his lover's body into 14 separate pieces, packed them into a suitcase, and then kayaked out into the sea to scatter them. Body parts were also scattered around the island.
Local residents found Mr Arteaga's remains - including his hips and thighs - in a rubbish tip on the island, according to the police.
Police Lieutenant General Surapong Thanomjit said at the time: "The suspect has confessed to being the one who killed Edwin Arrieta Arteaga and dismembered the body.
"He put the parts in a suitcase and left them in the sea. He claimed that the victim was angry when he refused to sleep with him. Then he punched him in the head, causing him to fall over and hit the bathtub, so he cut the body to disguise the death. Investigators found traces of the victim's body in the hotel room the suspect booked."
The famous chef had filed a missing persons report for Edwin following the murder.

Man who 'sexually abused shackled girlfriend for two weeks' RELEASED from jail
Timothy Wood, 36, was arrested after his girlfriend managed to flee a shed she was allegedly held captive in - before appearing at a neighbour's house covered in cuts and bruises A man accused of holding his girlfriend captive inside a shed and sexually abusing her for two weeks has been freed from jail. Police arrested Timothy Wood, 36, on July 2 after the woman managed to flee through an unlocked door and showed up at a neighbour's house with cuts and bruises all over her body. She told officers that Wood locked her in a shed where she was stuffed into a crawl space for two days, and beat her with an electrical chord. The Phoenix Police Department arrested the dad-of-three for aggravated assault, sexual assault, felony kidnapping, and unlawful imprisonment. But after further evidence was obtained through a request by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, Wood was released from jail. Speaking to local news last week, the alleged victim said: "They told me that there was enough evidence to put him away. They told me that they found everything. The forensic nurse even corroborated my injuries. I want to get him off the streets not only to get justice for me, but to keep him from hurting somebody else 'cause he will." It comes after a woman, 20, was found dead on bus with 26 iPhones glued to her body. The Mirror has contacted the Phoenix Police department for comment. Wood, who has a documented history of domestic violence, allegedly chained the woman, physically abused her, and at one point, reportedly buried her alive. Court documents revealed that the dad locked his victim inside a makeshift cell behind his home after she was evicted. The shed was reportedly sealed with chains and bricks, and she was only allowed out when escorted by Wood. Prosecutors allege the woman was subjected to escalating abuse. She told police the beatings only paused when she agreed to have sex with him. Wood allegedly used an electrical cord to whip her, threatened to saw off her foot, and even knelt on her neck until she couldn't breathe. At one point, she claimed he confined her in a crawlspace and covered it, effectively burying her alive for two days. Her eventual escape came when she discovered an unlocked door and fled to a neighbour, who described her as "frantic" and visibly injured, with black eyes, a gash on her head, and multiple bruises. "She was scared to death that he was going to find her and kill her," the neighbour told Fox 10 Phoenix. During a recent court appearance, prosecutors stated the woman was repeatedly raped under threat of death and restrained using chains. "This victim, very well for 14 days, may have been worried that she may not survive this incident," a county attorney said. Wood denies the allegations, calling them "crazy" and blaming the woman's mental health, telling the judge she just got "out of the loony bin," claiming she was prone to "episodes" and that her mother usually handled them. "I wasn't home at the time. When I got home, the police were there, and this all just kind of broke out," he added. In 2007, Wood was arrested for aggravated assault, and later for attempted domestic violence in 2010 - both cases resulting in guilty pleas. In the earlier case, police said witnesses saw him trying to force a screaming woman into his truck. He told officers she was his girlfriend and they were just arguing.

Man's terrifying discovery after setting up camera to work out why food was going missing
An actor was living with his girlfriend in New York City when he noticed that his food was going missing - so he set up a hidden camera in the kitchen to catch the culprit New York-based actor Joe Cummings was living with his girlfriend when he noticed something strange - his food kept disappearing. Sure he wasn't imagining things, he initially suspected his girlfriend was sneaking late-night snacks. But when she denied it, Joe decided to get to the bottom of the mystery by installing a hidden camera in the kitchen. It comes after a woman claimed 'My friend is naming her baby after a fish – she can't see how ugly it is'. What he discovered was far more disturbing than he ever expected. Rather than catching his girlfriend red-handed, the footage revealed something straight out of a horror film: a woman he didn't recognise slowly emerging from a storage loft above the kitchen in the dead of night. She climbed down onto a table, used the kitchen sink as a toilet, drank from the fridge, and helped herself to food from the pantry. At one point in the footage, shared on YouTube, Joe himself walks into the kitchen, unaware of the intruder silently hiding just out of view. After reviewing the shocking clip in 2009, Joe immediately left the apartment and called the police. When officers arrived, they found the woman still hiding in the loft. According to Joe, she had set up a makeshift sleeping area with a blanket in the crawl space, which extended surprisingly deep into the building's structure and had no ventilation. 'The police officers thought she had been living there for at least a couple of weeks,' Joe later explained. 'I had no idea who she was. She didn't say much when the cops came and took her out.' Joe speculated that the woman may have entered through a fire escape window and decided to stay, possibly after initially breaking in to rob the place. Police added that this wasn't the first time they had encountered a squatter living secretly in someone's home. Ultimately, Joe chose not to press charges, saying he 'felt bad' for the woman, describing her behaviour as almost 'feral.' The unsettling footage was later uploaded to YouTube, where it quickly went viral - unnerving millions of viewers around the world.
