UK' Dr. Martens aims for FY26 turnaround after tough FY25

Dr. Martens plc has reported preliminary results for the 52 weeks ended March 30, 2025, showing group revenue down 10 per cent to £787.6 million (~$1.071 billion) amid a challenging macroeconomic backdrop.
Adjusted profit before tax fell to £34.1 million (~$46.4 million) from £97.2 million (~$132.2 million), while reported profit sank to £8.8 million (~$12 million).
Dr Martens has reported a 10 per cent revenue drop to $1.071 billion for FY25 in its preliminary results, with adjusted profit before tax falling to $46.4 million. Despite the decline, it met key goals including DTC growth in the Americas, $34 million in cost savings, and a stronger balance sheet. Its new strategy, Levers For Growth, targets profit recovery in FY26.
Despite the decline, the company delivered on all four of its fiscal 2025 (FY25) objectives, including returning the Americas direct-to-consumer channel to growth in H2, refocusing its marketing on products, achieving £25 million (~$34 million) in cost savings, and strengthening its balance sheet ahead of schedule. Net debt fell sharply to £94.1 million (~$127.9 million) excluding leases, the company said in a financial release.
"Our single focus in FY25 was to bring stability back to Dr. Martens. We have achieved this by returning our direct-to-consumer channel in the Americas back to growth, resetting our marketing approach to focus relentlessly on our products, delivering cost savings, and significantly strengthening our balance sheet,' said Ije Nwokorie, chief executive officer.
Dr. Martens also unveiled its updated strategy, Levers For Growth, focused on four pillars: engaging more consumers, increasing purchase occasions, refining distribution, and simplifying operations.
A final dividend of 1.70p has been proposed, bringing the full-year payout to 2.55p.
'We are today sharing our Levers For Growth, which will increase our opportunities by shifting the business from a channel-first to a consumer-first mindset. We will give more people more reasons to buy more of our products, whether that's our iconic boots and shoes, newer product families such as Zebzag and Buzz, or adjacent categories such as sandals, bags and leather goods. And we will tailor distribution to each market, blending DTC and B2B, optimising brand reach and ensuring a better use of capital,' Ije added.

These cards will be valid for travel in Delhi buses, the Metro, and Namo Bharat trains, as well as for making payments in malls, hotels, and restaurants. DTC has already begun the process of selecting banks to implement the scheme, and the cards are expected to be available to passengers soon. Two Types of Smart Cards Initially, DTC planned to introduce only one type of smart card, but it has now decided to launch two: Zero KYC Card: Designed solely for travel on DTC and cluster buses, the Metro, and Namo Bharat trains. The card must be topped up before use. Full KYC Card: Works both for travel and as a debit-like shopping card, allowing payments at malls, restaurants, and other merchant outlets. With this, passengers will no longer need to carry cash or change, as travel and shopping can be managed with a single card. How To Get A Zero KYC Card Obtaining a Zero KYC card will be quick and simple. Passengers can use their mobile number or Aadhaar number, with instant verification via OTP. The card will be available free of cost at DTC depots, Metro stations, or bank counters. If a passenger's Aadhaar has a Delhi PIN code, the card will be issued immediately. How To Get A Full KYC Card The Full KYC card will have the holder's name and photograph and can be obtained from bank branches or designated outlets. An online video KYC (e-KYC) option will also be available. After verification, the bank will print the card and either send it to the passenger's address or allow them to collect it. The card must be recharged before use for shopping or travel. Revised Bank Selection Rules The Delhi government has eased the eligibility rules for banks issuing these smart cards. Earlier, banks needed at least three years' experience in issuing National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC). This has now been reduced to one year, enabling more banks to participate and ensuring quicker rollout. Passenger Benefits Zero KYC cards will simplify travel across buses, Metro, and Namo Bharat trains, while Full KYC cards will add the convenience of shopping and digital payments. US' Skechers Q2 2025 sales hit $2.44 bn despite margin pressure

American footwear company Skechers Inc has reported record second-quarter (Q2) 2025 sales of $2.44 billion, up 13.1 per cent year-over-year (YoY), with $33.9 million attributed to favourable foreign currency exchange rates. On a constant currency basis, sales grew 11.5 per cent to $2.41 billion. The wholesale sales of the company increased 15 per cent YoY to $1.3 billion, while direct-to-consumer (DTC) sales rose 11 per cent to $1.14 billion. Diluted earnings per share (EPS) stood at $1.13, including a $0.3 boost from currency effects, compared to $0.83 on a constant currency basis. Net earnings attributable to Skechers reached $170.5 million, up 21.5 per cent YoY. The gross profit in Q2 rose 9.9 per cent to $1.3 billion, with a gross margin of 53.3 per cent, down 160 basis points due to higher cost of sales. Operating expenses grew 15.4 per cent to $1.13 billion, leading to a 16.2 per cent drop in earnings from operations to $173.1 million. Operating margin narrowed to 7.1 per cent from 9.6 per cent, Skechers said in a press release. Skechers Inc has posted a record Q2 2025 sales of $2.44 billion, up 13.1 per cent YoY, with wholesale up 15 per cent and DTC up 11 per cent. H1 sales rose 10 per cent to $4.85 billion, driven by strong international growth, notably 29.4 per cent in EMEA. While profits grew, higher costs narrowed margins. The company aims to sustain growth through innovation and global expansion. The international sales outpaced domestic growth, surging 22 per cent in Q2 to $1.58 billion, driven by a 48.5 per cent jump in the Europe, Middle East & Africa region. Asia Pacific region (APAC) saw an increase of 5.5 per cent. China sales, however, fell 8.2 per cent in the quarter to $287.2 million. Meanwhile, in the first half (H1) of 2025, sales climbed 10 per cent YoY to $4.85 billion, with wholesale revenue rising 11 per cent to $2.83 billion and DTC revenue increasing 8.8 per cent to $2.02 billion. Domestic sales in H1 grew 3.2 per cent to $1.72 billion. International sales surged 14.2 per cent to $3.14 billion, driven by an 18 per cent increase in wholesale to $1.92 billion and an 8.6 per cent rise in DTC to $1.21 billion. Regionally, the Americas recorded sales of $2.22 billion in H1, up 4.6 per cent, while Europe, Middle East & Africa delivered robust growth of 29.4 per cent to $1.45 billion. US' Crocs delivers strong Q2, but projects 9–11% revenue dip in Q3

American casual footwear company Crocs has reported consolidated revenues of $1.15 billion in the second quarter (Q2) for fiscal 2025 (FY25), up 3.4 per cent year-over-year (YoY). It marked the highest gross profit of $708.84 million in its history with direct-to-consumer (DTC) sales growing 4 per cent and wholesale revenues increasing 2.8 per cent. The adjusted gross margin rose to 61.7 per cent. The company also posted a reported operating loss of $428 million, primarily due to non-cash impairment charges totalling $737 million related to the Heydude trademark and goodwill. The adjusted income from operations declined 5 per cent to $309 million, while adjusted diluted earnings per share rose 5.5 per cent to $4.23, Crocs said in a press release. Crocs has reported revenue of $1.15 billion in Q2 FY25, up 3.4 per cent YoY, with record gross profit and a 61.7 per cent adjusted gross margin. Despite a $428 million operating loss due to Heydude impairments, adjusted EPS rose 5.5 per cent to $4.23. The company expects Q3 revenue to decline by 9â€'11 per cent, citing global trade uncertainty and tightening consumer conditions. Brand-wise, Crocs posted a revenue of $960 million, a 5 per cent increase YoY, driven by an 18.1 per cent surge in international markets that offset a 6.5 per cent decline in North America. Meanwhile, Heydude brand saw revenue fall of 3.9 per cent to $190 million, with wholesale revenue dropping 12.4 per cent, although DTC sales improved by 7.6 per cent. 'We reported a solid second quarter with both our Crocs and Heydude brands contributing to our performance, while delivering the highest ever gross profit quarter in company history. Our strong cash flow generation enabled us to return shareholder value through $133 million in share repurchases, and $105 million in debt paydown,' said Andrew Rees, chief executive officer (CEO) at Crocs . As of June 30, 2025, the company held $201 million in cash, inventories of $405 million, and reduced total borrowings to $1,379 million. Capital expenditures were $32 million for the quarter. 'While we are pleased by this performance, the current operating environment is uncertain and challenging to predict. Against this, we have chosen to focus on managing expenses including the $50 million in cost savings we have already implemented, reducing our inventory receipts, and pulling back on promotional activity to protect brand health in the marketplace,' added Rees. 'Although these actions will impact the topline of our business in the short term, they will position our business to win, drive margin dollars, and support continued cash flow generation longer term.' Looking ahead, Crocs has issued guidance only for the third quarter (Q3), citing global trade uncertainty and consumer-related pressures. The company is expecting revenues to decline by 11 to 9 per cent YoY and anticipates an adjusted operating margin of 18 to 19 per cent, including a 170 basis-point headwind from existing and anticipated tariffs, added the release.
