Singer Jahiem charged with animal cruelty for the second time in 4 years

Yahoo30-05-2025
R&B singer Jaheim was charged with six counts of animal cruelty and booked into a Georgia jail earlier this month, according to Fulton County Police Department records.
Fulton County Animal Control Officers first responded to a call on April 27 about a large, copper-red dog roaming through a shopping mall parking lot looking malnourished, according to the arrest affidavit. Officers found the dog tied up to the back of an RV and left unattended.
An unknown male approached officers in an aggressive manner saying, "We not taking the dog," and explained he was outside doing work on the RV, the affidavit states. Animal control left without any further incident.
The following day, police accompanied animal control workers to the site, where they encountered the man. He became "irate" and initially refused to identify himself, according to the affidavit; then he stated he was the singer Jaheim, whose legal name is Jaheim Hoagland, the court papers say.
Jaheim took the dog out of the kennel for officers to see, and the animal appeared "severely emaciated and his rib cage was protruding through the skin," the affidavit stated. The singer was given a written warning and the officers said they would return to obtain the dog's veterinarian records and do a reassessment.
On April 29, animal control received an additional complaint about another of Jaheim's dogs that looked emaciated, the affidavit read. The singer allegedly moved his RV to different locations in the Atlanta area until a search warrant was executed and he was found on May 1.
The "Just in Case" singer from Tucker, Georgia, was arrested that day and released on May 2 after posting a $35,000 bond, records show.
Six of his dogs found in the RV — named Tweet, Tip, Taka, Tink, Timber and Tanger — were found to not have "adequate food, water, sanitary conditions and ventilation," court documents stated.
There were four American pit bull terriers, one French bulldog and one hound type mixed breed found. Three of the dogs were puppies, according to the court records.
The puppies were found in kennels with urine and feces covering the floor in an RV with no air circulating, according to the affidavit. They had overgrown nails and some had feces on their paws.
The Frenchie canine was found missing patches of hair from its rear end, the affidavit stated.
Jaheim is scheduled to appear in court on June 2. It is not clear if the 47-year-old singer has an attorney.
Jaheim was previously charged with third-degree animal cruelty in 2021 after officials found multiple emaciated dogs at his New Jersey home, including one that was in such poor condition that it had to be euthanized.
Officers found six dogs in crates in separate animal crates in Jaheim's driveway and an additional nine dogs in "in varying stages of emaciation," according to a September 2021 press release from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.

US military preparing to surge National Guard troops to Washington DC to fight local crime and youth violence: report

The US military is preparing to activate hundreds of National Guard troops to Washington, DC as a part of President Trump's sweeping federal crackdown on crime in the nation's capital, according to authorities. Trump has yet to make a final decision about the activation of federal troops, but the National Guard is currently readying to deploy them, two US officials with knowledge of the operation confirmed to Reuters. 3 The US military is preparing to activate hundreds of National Guard troops to Washington, DC as a part of President Trump's sweeping federal crackdown on crime in the nation's capital. Middle East Images/AFP via Getty Images The preparation comes as 120 FBI agents from across the country have already begun patrolling DC streets overnight and backing up area cops at carjacking hot spots, despite many lacking local patrol work training, The Washington Post reported. 'Be prepared! There will be no 'MR. NICE GUY.' We want our Capital BACK,' Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social Sunday ahead of a planned White House press conference Monday morning about the city's cleanliness and general condition. The possible order follows Trump's 'Making the District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful' executive order signed on March 28, which established a task force dedicated to fighting crime and reducing illegal immigration in the city. 'The Homeless have to move out, IMMEDIATELY. We will give you places to stay, but FAR from the Capital. The Criminals, you don't have to move out. We're going to put you in jail where you belong,' Trump wrote in the social media post — comparing the action to his illegal immigration crackdown at the border. 'The Mayor of D.C., Muriel Bowser, is a good person who has tried, but she has been given many chances, and the Crime Numbers get worse, and the City only gets dirtier and less attractive,' Trump said in a different post Sunday. 3 'The Homeless have to move out, IMMEDIATELY. YURI GRIPAS/POOL/EPA/Shutterstock Bowser has since fought back on Trump's characterization of the city. 'If the priority is to show force in an American city, we know he can do that here,' Bowser said on MSNBC Sunday morning. 'But it won't be because there's a spike in crime.' Violent crime is down 26% compared with this time in 2024, according to DC police data, and there have been roughly 20% fewer juvenile arrests this year, the Washington Post reported. However, the White House isn't backing down — noting that the city's 'been plagued by petty and violent crime for far too long,' White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.. US Park Police arrested more than half a dozen perps in the capital on charges including possession of stolen firearms and illicit drugs as part of a federal crackdown launched by the Trump administration Thursday to clean up the nation's capital. Eight culprits were arrested in the surge and two handguns were confiscated from offenders with prior felony convictions, Park Police Fraternal Order of Police chairman Kenneth Spencer told The Post Friday. At least 30 'fraudulent oxycodone pills' — which appeared to be fentanyl — were also seized, along with 210 grams of crack cocaine, 600 grams of marijuana, 64 grams of hashish oil and cash with a total value of $3,600, Spencer added. 3 The show of force was in part sparked by the assault of a 19-year-old former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staffer who was beaten and bloodied by a mob of 10 minors last Sunday. Truth Social/@realDonaldTrump The show of force was in part sparked by the beating of a 19-year-old former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staffer who was beaten and bloodied by a mob of 10 minors last Sunday as he thwarted a carjacking attempt in the nation's capital, according to DC police. Edward Coristine, whose LinkedIn handle earned him the nickname 'Big Balls' at DOGE, was with a woman near downtown DC when he saw the group of juveniles approach their car and 'make a comment about taking the vehicle. Trump and Coristine's former boss Elon Musk shared a photograph of the aftermath of the assault on Coristine early Tuesday afternoon, showing the former DOGE staffer sitting on the ground, bloodied and with his ripped shirt barely hanging on his body. Critics and residents have fired back at Trump's sweeping crackdown and removal of the homeless as inhumane. 'That money could be better spent getting folks housing and support,' Jesse Rabinowitz, campaign and communications director at the National Homelessness Law Center, told the Washington Post. It is not yet clear what exactly federal troops would do, but they could be deployed to protect federal agents or even carry out administrative tasks to free up law enforcement, officials said. Ex-Superman Dean Cain Joins ICE, Social Media Cooks Super Lame

Source: DOMINIC GWINN / Getty Former 'Superman' actor Dean Cain announced that he's joined ICE, leading to unsurprised replies and jabs from social media. As the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency has wreaked havoc in the United States in line with President Donald Trump's agenda towards immigrants, conservative actor and former 'Superman' star Dean Cain has announced that he's joined ICE. He spoke about joining the agency while appearing on Fox News' Jesse Watters Primetime on Wednesday (August 6), revealing that his posting of a recruitment video led to his ultimately signing up. 'I'm actually… a sworn deputy sheriff and a reserve police officer – I wasn't part of ICE, but once I put that (the recruitment video) out there and you put a little blurb on your show, it went crazy,' Cain said to Watters. 'So now I've spoken with some officials over at ICE and I will be sworn in as an ICE agent ASAP.' Cain is a sworn sheriff's deputy in Frederick County, Virginia and has served as a reserve officer in two Idaho counties in 2018 and 2019. We care about your data. See our privacy policy. The former Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman star continued, 'This country was built on patriots stepping up, whether it was popular or not, and doing the right thing. I truly believe this is the right thing.' He added that it was what Trump ran on, and 'It's what I voted for and he's going to see it through, and I'll do my part and help make sure it happens.' The announcement earned Cain an overwhelming amount of scorn online. The 59-year-old has been a staunch conservative for years as well as an avid supporter of Trump. Many weren't surprised at the actor's moves, with media personality Van Lathan dismissing fellow panelist Scott Jennings' defense of him on CNN: 'Scott, it's not 1995. No one gives a sad hell what Dean Cain thinks. Dean needs the $50,000 – that's what got him off the couch.' Others pointed out how Cain is willfully joining an agency who has been consistently criticized for its aggressive mass deportations and arrests nationwide placing people in detention camps, recalling the actor's detailing of how his Japanese-American relatives on his father's side of the family were in the Minidoka War Relocation Center in Idaho during World War II.
