Singer Jahiem charged with animal cruelty for the second time in 4 years
R&B singer Jaheim was charged with six counts of animal cruelty and booked into a Georgia jail earlier this month, according to Fulton County Police Department records. Fulton County Animal Control Officers first responded to a call on April 27 about a large, copper-red dog roaming through a shopping mall parking lot looking malnourished, according to the arrest affidavit. Officers found the dog tied up to the back of an RV and left unattended. An unknown male approached officers in an aggressive manner saying, "We not taking the dog," and explained he was outside doing work on the RV, the affidavit states. Animal control left without any further incident. The following day, police accompanied animal control workers to the site, where they encountered the man. He became "irate" and initially refused to identify himself, according to the affidavit; then he stated he was the singer Jaheim, whose legal name is Jaheim Hoagland, the court papers say. Jaheim took the dog out of the kennel for officers to see, and the animal appeared "severely emaciated and his rib cage was protruding through the skin," the affidavit stated. The singer was given a written warning and the officers said they would return to obtain the dog's veterinarian records and do a reassessment. On April 29, animal control received an additional complaint about another of Jaheim's dogs that looked emaciated, the affidavit read. The singer allegedly moved his RV to different locations in the Atlanta area until a search warrant was executed and he was found on May 1. The "Just in Case" singer from Tucker, Georgia, was arrested that day and released on May 2 after posting a $35,000 bond, records show. Six of his dogs found in the RV — named Tweet, Tip, Taka, Tink, Timber and Tanger — were found to not have "adequate food, water, sanitary conditions and ventilation," court documents stated. There were four American pit bull terriers, one French bulldog and one hound type mixed breed found. Three of the dogs were puppies, according to the court records. The puppies were found in kennels with urine and feces covering the floor in an RV with no air circulating, according to the affidavit. They had overgrown nails and some had feces on their paws. The Frenchie canine was found missing patches of hair from its rear end, the affidavit stated. Jaheim is scheduled to appear in court on June 2. It is not clear if the 47-year-old singer has an attorney. Jaheim was previously charged with third-degree animal cruelty in 2021 after officials found multiple emaciated dogs at his New Jersey home, including one that was in such poor condition that it had to be euthanized. Officers found six dogs in crates in separate animal crates in Jaheim's driveway and an additional nine dogs in "in varying stages of emaciation," according to a September 2021 press release from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office. Warrant: R&B singer Jaheim had animal control called on him 3 times before Atlanta arrest
A Grammy-nominated R&B singer charged with animal cruelty was given a warning before he was arrested, a warrant obtained by Channel 2 Action News alleges. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] On April 27, Fulton County Animal Control officers were called to The Shops of Buckhead on Peachtree Road regarding a large copper-red dog that looked malnourished and was roaming around the parking lot, according to the warrant. When officers arrived, the dog was tied up on the back of an RV. A man, later identified as R&B singer Jaheim Hoagland, told the animal control officers in an 'aggressive manner', 'This is private property,' 'We're not taking the dog,' the warrant alleges, so they left. The following day, FCACO met with Hoagland, who appeared to be holding his phone, recording while telling the officers they were on private property. ACO told Hoagland they received a complaint about his dog and the dog's current state. The warrant alleged Hoagland refused to identify himself, his dog, or allow animal control to look at the dog. According to the warrant, the ACO was able to see an envelope Hoagland was holding and search the name on Google, which identified him as the R&B singer. When officers took the dog out of the kennel, it appeared severely emaciated, and its rib cage was protruding through the skin, according to the warrant. The officers gave him a written warning and informed him they would return to get veterinarian records and reassess the dog. Officers said he also gave them a relative's phone number, not his own. Roagland moved his RV to the BP gas station on Peachtree Road. The witness says Hoagland had a white dog in his care that looked severely emaciated. He was arrested on May 1. He is charged with animal cruelty related to six dogs found on his property, including four pit bulls, a French bulldog and a mixed-breed hound. The warrant states Hoagland has a 2021 third-degree animal cruelty case in Hillsborough, NJ. In that case, he is alleged to have 15 dogs living in a home with deplorable conditions and failed to provide necessary care to the animals.

R&B Singer Jaheim Arrested And Charged With Cruelty To Animals
R&B singer Jaheim was arrested and released earlier this month for the alleged inhumane treatment of his pets. According to Fulton County jail records, the 'Finding My Way Back' performer was taken into custody and released the next day on six counts of cruelty to animals. The 47-year-old, born Jaheim Hoagland, allegedly failed to provide enough water, sanitary conditions, and ventilation for his dogs, according to local news station WSB-TV2 Atlanta. He is said to own four pit bull terriers, a hound mix-breed, and a French bulldog. This is not the singer's first time being accused of mistreating animals. A few years back, Hoagland faced similar charges in New Jersey. According to ESSENCE, he was taken into custody in September 2021 for the alleged starvation and neglect of 15 dogs, with one of the animals dying. At the time, he was charged with third-degree animal cruelty and failure to provide necessary care to an animal after over a dozen animals located in and on his property in poor health. 'Responding Hillsborough Patrol units upon canvassing the area located a total of six dogs in separate animal crates in the driveway of a Chamberlain Drive residence,' detailed Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson at the time. 'One of the dogs located was initially unresponsive in a water-filled crate and subsequently had to be euthanized. Additional dogs were found inside of separate crates, which were partially filled with several inches of water and dog feces.' The statement continued, 'An additional nine dogs were located inside of the residence in varying stages of emaciation, without access to food and water.' Musically, Jaheim's last album is 2016's Struggle Love. 'It's a concept on the album Struggle Love,' he explained to You Know I Got Soul. 'It's titled that because I think back and look at my life as a mirror of struggles. Through those struggles, it's been a lot of ups and downs. The things that you love and like to do, you struggle with them. You see it in other people's interpretations. We have people writing from all different angles.'
