Haryana to install tracking devices in all public transport vehicles
The decision, expected to strengthen the safety of women and children in the state, was taken during a state transport department meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
He emphasised that department- or district-wise targets should be set to ensure timely completion and directed the officers to integrate this system with the emergency response service '112'.
This initiative is expected to be a milestone in establishing a safe transport system for women in the state, the statement said.
The VLTD system, developed by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways under the Nirbhaya framework, offers real-time location data and emergency alert features.
Expressing concern over road accidents, the CM directed the officials to conduct A thorough investigation of each accident so that the shortcomings can be addressed to prevent such incidents in the future.
CM also gave specific directions to monitor the fitness of school transport vehicles.
He stated that all school buses must undergo regular inspections, with attention paid to their technical condition.
Non-compliance with rules and guidelines should result in challans and vehicle seizure, he said, while adding, "safety of children is our responsibility".
He also directed that Haryana Roadways drivers be required to submit medical certificates at regular intervals.
To address the challenge of revenue deficit in the transport sector, Saini directed officers to explore various innovations and commercial possibilities, including evaluating alternatives such as advertising on buses.
While reviewing the city bus service, the Chief Minister directed an increase in the number of electric buses, along with the establishment of charging stations.
It was informed in the meeting that the procurement process for 375 electric buses under the City Bus Service scheme is underway.
Additionally, under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme, action is being expedited for the purchase of 250 more electric buses.

Jaipur: City police Monday arrested a 50-year-old man from Jhunjhunu barely an hour after he rang up the police control room, warning of a bomb inside the chief minister's office (CMO) in Jaipur. DCP (south) Rajarshi Raj Varma said the caller, identified as Sanwar Mal Saini, made the threat around 12:30pm. Caretaker held for stealing from employer in Dwarka
A 31-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly duping an 80-year-old woman of ₹14.35 lakh by accessing her mobile phone , police said, adding that the accused worked as a caretaker for the victim at her house in southwest Delhi's Dwarka. Deputy commissioner of police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said the octogenarian Manjush Rani Gupta, in her complaint last month, alleged that her former caretaker, Deepak Kumar Saini, accessed her bank account through her mobile without her knowledge and transferred ₹14.35 lakh to his own account. Her bank statement was analysed and the allegation was found to be correct. A case of theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master was registered under Section 306 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the cyber police station on July 16. Saini was at large at the time. 'Investigation revealed that Saini was involved in an online gambling racket via Telegram groups such as 'Kingstar', 'Rockstar', and 'King Ludo Betting'. Checking his call details and via technical surveillance, Saini was arrested from Rajasthan's Sikar last week and the mobile phone used in the crime was recovered,' DCP Singh said. During interrogation, it was revealed that he had been working at the complainant's house since March 2020 and had occasional access to her mobile phone. Between January 31 and June 6, he installed financial apps, retrieved OTPs, and conducted illegal transfers from her phone. He also confessed to losing nearly all the stolen money in gambling and partying.

Man posing as nurse arrested for duping elderly employer of Rs 14.35 lakh in Dwarka
New Delhi: A 31-year-old man impersonating a male nurse was arrested in Dwarka for allegedly defrauding his 80-year-old former employer of Rs 14.35 lakh. According to police, the case surfaced after the elderly woman, a resident of Royal Residency in Dwarka, filed a complaint on July 16. She alleged that her former caretaker, Deepak Kumar Saini, had siphoned off funds from her bank account. Saini had worked at her residence since March 2020 and allegedly exploited occasional access to her mobile phone to gain control over her finances. A case was registered and a police team was constituted, said DCP (Dwarka) Ankit Singh. Based on digital forensic analysis of IP logs, call records, and bank statements, a team from the Dwarka Cyber Police Station traced Saini to Rajasthan. He was arrested on July 31 in Sikar district, and his mobile phone—containing evidence of the financial transactions and chat records—was seized.
