Celebrate Easter, Earth Day and spring in Nashville
Spring is in full bloom in Nashville, and a warm and sunny weekend stretches out ahead of us.
Several events are on tap as the city celebrates Easter, Earth Day and the start of the sunny season.
🐰 Eggstravaganzoo: The annual celebration Saturday at the Nashville Zoo will include staggered Easter egg hunts for different age groups, face painting and, of course, quality time with a menagerie of animals.
Don't forget to bring a basket.
🎨 Great Spring Art Hop: Cheekwood's take on the classic Easter event will feature 48 egg hunts spread across Friday and Saturday. About 36,000 eggs filled with treats will be scattered around the botanical garden.
The festivities will also include crafts, food trucks and live music.
🐀 Hunt for "Easter Rats": Yes, you read that correctly. The Hermitage is hosting scavenger hunts this weekend in Andrew Jackson's historic home. It's based on a family story about Jackson's granddaughter Rachel.
"After a long day of dyeing eggs for a fun Easter egg hunt at her school, rats threatened to put a sour note on the festivities when they ate the eggs," The Hermitage reported.
"The young (and young at heart) are invited to help us save Easter by finding the rats, who are hiding throughout the mansion."
🌎 Earth Day Festival: Head to Centennial Park Saturday to celebrate nature's bounty.
The Nashville Tree Foundation will give out 1,250 free trees while supplies are available. (It might be worth showing up at 11am, when the event begins.)
There will also be an electric vehicle car show, talks about home composting and gardening, and a free yoga class.
🍇 Music in the Vines: Sit and sip on a dry cabernet while enjoying jazz and bluegrass music and the breathtaking view of the sprawling 95-acre property at Arrington Vineyards.

Jonathan Jackson to Exit 'General Hospital' Again, Less Than a Year After Returning as Lucky
Jonathan Jackson is leaving General Hospital again, less than a year after his most recent return to the soap opera Jackson plays Lucky Spencer on the long-running series, a role that has won him five Daytime Emmys Jackson's last episode as Lucky will air next weekJonathan Jackson is leaving Port Charles behind — again. Jackson, 43, will be exiting General Hospital less than a year after he returned to his Daytime Emmy-winning role as Lucky Spencer, PEOPLE has confirmed. His last episode will air next week. "We were so glad Jonathan was able to reprise the role of Lucky, even if it was for a limited time," General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini said in a statement. "We wish him nothing but the best and the door is always open for Jonathan to return." Jackson first played Lucky, the son of soap opera royalty Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis), between 1993 and 1999. He returned between 2009 through 2011 and once again for a short run in 2015 during Geary's exit storyline. Most recently, he returned full-time as Lucky in August 2024, even reuniting with Francis in the process. Recent General Hospital episodes have hinted at Jackson's departure. After rekindling a romance between him and his ex-wife, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst), Lucky popped the question in the June 4 epsidoe while the two were enjoying a romantic picnic in the park. The story continued in the June 5 episode, with Elizabeth turning Lucky down gently. Despite him suggesting she and their son, Aiden, explore the world together, Elizabeth said she's content in Port Charles and didn't want to uproot Aiden's life. Amid his heartbreak, Lucky said he'd be leaving town, admitting "it's not my home anymore." "I know it's sudden, but being here, knowing that we can't be together… it just hurts too much," he explained. Jackson's latest departure from General Hospital comes after he took a brief hiatus from the soap opera in February. Actor Guy Wilson took over as the character for a few episodes. Wilson isnt' the only actor to play Lucky when Jackson wasn't in the role, as Jacob Young and Greg Vaughan have also stepped in to play the role during Jackson's absence. Weekend events for Nashville residents avoiding CMA Fest
Country music is one of the great constants in Nashville, but that doesn't mean there isn't more to enjoy. Why it matters: Sometimes longtime residents need a break from the boot scooting. State of play: While CMA Fest is certainly the biggest event of the weekend, there are plenty of other fun things to do. If you'd prefer twang-free activities, we're here to help. 🌱 Cheekwood's community celebration: The botanical garden is offering discounted admission for nonmembers this weekend. The event runs through Saturday and includes food trucks, family-friendly activities, $5 gardening classes and concerts. A gardenside screening of "The Princess Bride" is planned Friday night. 🎟️ Movie mania: The Belcourt Theatre is in the midst of a series celebrating films shot in and around Nashville. A special Saturday seminar will delve into the city's role in "Hick Flick" culture through films like "Ernest Scared Stupid," which was filmed in East Nashville. 🏛️ Play tourist: The Parthenon is hosting an architectural tour on Saturday that uses our replica, which was built in the 1890s, to examine the features of the historic Greek structure that was constructed thousands of years ago. 🍩 Eat sweets: A citywide bakery crawl is underway all month. Several local bakeries are participating with limited-time specials like a chocolate chip pistachio cookie at Baked on Eighth, orange creamsicle donuts at East Park Donuts and lemon thyme shortbread danishes at Brightside Bakeshop. Plus: The annual LGBTQ+ Pride coffee crawl begins later this month. But some shops have already rolled out special drinks, like The Slayer at Fido, a shaken espresso latte with cayenne and honey.
