A highly coveted 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider Competizione is set to command attention at Broad Arrow Auctions' upcoming Amelia Auction, scheduled for March 7-8 at the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island. Estimated to fetch between $10 million and $14 million, the race-bred classic is regarded as one of the most significant examples of its kind.
Broad Arrow, a subsidiary of Hagerty (NYSE: HGTY), recently released a video showcasing the historic Ferrari in action, featuring Barney Ruprecht, the company's Senior Car Specialist and Vice-President of Auctions. The video provides a firsthand look at the car's performance capabilities and its unique competition-focused upgrades, including an aluminum body, stiffer suspension, and a 36-gallon long-range fuel tank.
'This is one of only 10 Competizione variants built, with every detail optimized for racing,' Ruprecht said in the video. 'From the moment you start it, the experience is dominated by the engine—it's a completely different beast compared to a standard California Spider.'
Chassis no. 1451 GT has a storied past, having placed fifth overall at the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans under the ownership of American privateer Bob Grossman. The car continued its racing career in the United States before eventually becoming a prized collector's piece. Presented in its original silver metallic Le Mans livery, the Ferrari comes with Ferrari Classiche certification and has made multiple appearances at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
The California Spider leads an impressive lineup at the Amelia Auction, where 166 collector cars will be offered, alongside two tractors and a child's go-kart. Other highlights include a 1954 Jaguar D-Type Works Competition car, a 1990 Ferrari F40, and a 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder.
With many vehicles offered without reserve, Broad Arrow's Amelia Auction is expected to be one of the most anticipated collector car events of the year.

OPENLANE (KAR) Shares Skyrocket, What You Need To Know

What Happened? Shares of digital vehicle marketplace OPENLANE (NYSE:KAR) jumped 9.6% in the afternoon session after the company reported strong second-quarter financial results that beat analyst expectations and raised its full-year guidance. The used and salvaged vehicle auctioneer reported adjusted earnings of 33 cents per share, which sailed past Wall Street estimates of 24 cents. Revenue for the quarter also landed at $481.7 million, beating expectations of $449 million. Company executives credited the strong performance to their digital-first strategy, which led to a 24% increase in auction fee revenue and a 21% jump in dealer volume. Following the robust quarter, OPENLANE raised its full-year earnings guidance to a range of $1.12 to $1.17 per share. Is now the time to buy OPENLANE? Access our full analysis report here, it's free. What Is The Market Telling Us OPENLANE's shares are not very volatile and have only had 6 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today's move indicates the market considers this news meaningful, although it might not be something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business. The biggest move we wrote about over the last year was 4 months ago when the stock dropped 5.5% as stocks gave back some of the gains from the previous day as the White House clarified the tariffs on imports from China would add up to 145%, while the baseline 10% tariffs remained in place for all countries. This reminded markets that the global trade environment remained volatile, limiting the potential for sustained gains. Also, President Trump said he was willing to accept pain in the short term, and was aware his policies could cause a recession, but he remained more mindful of a more severe case of economic depression (higher unemployment and prolonged downturn). For investors, this suggested that the administration could prioritize long-term structural shifts over near-term economic stability, further increasing policy-driven risk in the markets. OPENLANE is up 39.9% since the beginning of the year, and at $28.23 per share, has set a new 52-week high. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of OPENLANE's shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $1,647. The 1,250-HP Corvette ZR1X Costs $3.5M Less Than a Ferrari F80

It may be America's supercar, but the 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X is going to be 'modestly' priced for its performance. Given its incredible output of 1,250 hp, claimed 2.3-second 0–60-mph time, the soul-stirring sounds its 5.5-liter twin-turbo V-8 makes, and the fact it has AWD due to a front electric motor, this Corvette could have asked for top-shelf Ferrari money. Turns out, Chevrolet is starting the ZR1X at just over $200,000 for the coupe and just under $220,000 for the convertible. But that's not the only ZR1X news, as Chevy also announced a special edition.. The 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X, with 1,250 hp and a starting price of $207,395, offers supercar performance at a fraction of the cost of rivals like the Ferrari F80. Chevy also announced a $241,395 Quail Silver Limited Edition with exclusive features, available in early 2026. This summary was generated by AI using content from this MotorTrend article. Read Next As we said, with 1,250 hp on tap—and 145 lb-ft of torque ready to drive the front wheels as part of that combo—the 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X could easily trip the million-dollar price tag, American made or not. Just look at its competitors in power and speed. The 2026 Ferrari F80 pushes out 1,184 hp and 749 lb-ft of torque with a 2.1-second run to 60 mph, and asks $3.7 million for the privilege. Then there's the 2026 McLaren W1, the successor to the P1. Coming in at 1,258 hp and 988 lb-ft of torque, it will hit 60 mph in 2.7 seconds—and costs around $2.1 million. Meanwhile, the 2026 Corvette ZR1X beats the Ferrari in power, the McLaren in the sprint to 60 mph, and is engineered to hit 233 mph with a starting cost of $207,395 for the 1LZ coupe. Want to drop the top in the most powerful 'Vette? Add just $10,000 more, at $217,395. If you want more features baked into your ZR1X, the 3LZ coupe will cost $218,395 and the 'vert $228,395. Chevrolet hasn't finalized pricing for the ZTK Performance package yet, but we may have a small clue as to how much it might cost. That's thanks to a new limited-edition model called the ZR1X Quail Silver Limited Edition that will be launched during the 2026 Quail, A Motorsports Gathering during Monterey Car Week. It comes standard with the ZTK pack that includes higher spring rates to better take advantage of the downforce provided by the ZR1X Carbon Fiber Aero package. The ZTK goodies also include Michelin Pilot Cup 2R tires and additional tuning for the chassis controls. Additionally, the Quail Silver Limited Edition comes in a special exterior color and a first for Corvette. Inspired by the Inca Silver offered on the 1957 to 1959 C1 Corvette, the car's Blade Silver Matte paint is a modern approximation to the historic color. Other exterior features include orange painted calipers, black exhaust tips, and carbon flash painted mirror caps. Inside, the standard interior color scheme utilizes Sky Cool and Medium Ash Grey materials with Habenero accents. This interior color combo is available on all 2026 Corvettes from the Stingray to the 'standard' ZR1X. The Silver also gets a plaque noting noting its build number within the run, mounted on the 'waterfall' center interior speaker between the seats. Finally, it's only available as a convertible and is based on the ZR1X 3LZ trim. The 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X Quail Silver Limited Edition will cost $241,395, but that price doesn't include destination (which is likely $1,995). We also don't know yet how limited the Quail edition will be. Production of regular ZR1X models is scheduled to begin by the end of th year, while production of the Quail Silver Limited Edition will start in early 2026.
