Big Ten Tournament details released for Michigan State baseball, others
Michigan State baseball punched their ticket to Omaha, sneaking their way into the Big Ten Tournament as the No. 12 seed. With festivities beginning on Tuesday, the Big Ten has released schedule details for the upcoming tournament.
In baseball, the Big Ten tournament starts as a round robin, where teams are split into four pods of three - playing the other two teams in the pods. The team with the best record at the conclusion of the two games will move on to a single elimination semifinal matchup. If all three teams end in a 1-1 tie, the highest seed gets the spot in the semifinal as the tiebreaker.
Michigan State, as the No. 12 seed, was paired with the No. 1 seed and No. 8 seed. Those two teams ended up being Oregon, who was a co-champ in the Big Ten's regular season, and Nebraska.
MSU's first game will be on Tuesday, May 20, at approx. 6 p.m. against Nebraska. Their second game will be played on Thursday, May 22, also at approx. 6 p.m. against Oregon.

Broncos QB Jarrett Stidham sharp in preseason: 'His experience is very evident'
Denver Broncos backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham had an impressive preseason showing against the San Francisco 49ers last week, completing 14-of-15 passes for 136 yards with two touchdown passes. After the game, coach Sean Payton said Stidham is a "rhythm player" who has had countless snaps through OTAs, minicamp and training camp, allowing him to transition into preseason action smoothly. "His experience is very evident," Payton said of the veteran backup. In addition to being sharp and efficient as a passer, Stidham also rushed three times for a team-high 36 yards on the ground. The 29-year-old QB is not known for his mobility, but Stidham demonstrated against the 49ers that he's a capable runner. 'I thought it was awesome," Nix said of Stidham's performance. "I felt like he did a great job of taking what the defense gave him but also being very aggressive. He made some plays with his feet, which isn't common from him, but I thought he did a really good job. He's training really well right now. You can tell the difference in the athleticism that he has and he's capable of using. I think this is as healthy as he's been. I think it's as good as he's looked. And I'm excited for him to continue to train that way and play that way because I know he's got a lot that he can show." Nix and Stidham are expected to play again against the Arizona Cardinals this weekend. Next week, it will likely be third-stringer Sam Ehlinger handling the bulk of the QB snaps against the New Orleans Saints in Denver's preseason finale. "It's fun to see [Stidham] and Sam get out there and play like they do, just taking care of the football, making good decisions, being smart," Nix said. "I'm learning stuff when they're on the field to take for me. So, it's cool to be able to be close with those guys and be able to translate some of our games together.' Pair of freshmen pushing Oklahoma into good kind of hard decisions
After last year's struggles up front, Oklahoma offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh has some decisions to make during the Sooners' fall camp. A pair of freshmen - guard Ryan Fodje and tackle Michael Fasusi - have shown through nine practices they're ready to help patch things up on the line in 2025. The question is whether Bedenbaugh believes the two teenagers can do it as starters or if they need a bit more seasoning by playing rotationally as reserves. So far, he hasn't made a decision. "As of right now, they're going to play," Bedenbaugh said. "Whether they start or not, we'll see. I think we're in the ninth practice, but they've proved enough to have a chance to get on the field." 'I hate to put unreal expectations on them,' Bedenbaugh said. 'You know me, I'm an honest dude. I haven't had — and we've got good players, really good, guys that are All-Pros. I haven't had anybody like them at that age, just overall. They aren't afraid. They aren't afraid who they're blocking. Whether Fasusi gets his (butt) kicked by R Mason (Thomas) or not, he ain't scared. He's going out there to win. Ryan Fodje's the same exact way. He's going to line up again and he's going to have confidence. He's going to learn from that.' Senior Jacob Sexton is penciled in as the team's starter at left tackle after making four starts, and another four starts at left guard, last year before injuries knocked him out for the final third of the season. Fasusi, the No. 8 recruit in the country according to 247Sports, projects as a left tackle, too. If Sexton were to move back to left guard, instead, the competition includes sophomore Heath Ozaeta, who started eight games at the position last year, and Eddy Pierre-Louis, who played in four games in 2024. Bedenbaugh has to decide whether it's worth moving Pierre-Louis or Ozaeta out of the lineup to get the freshman in or letting the top-10 recruit rotate on occasion, mainly as a back-up to a fourth-year senior. Fodje, who profiles as a right guard, is behind Febechi Nwaiwu in the pecking order. Nwaiwu was the only Sooners offensive lineman to start all 13 games in 2024. But it was still for a line that allowed the most sacks in all of FBS last year. But if Fodje and Fasusi figure things out quickly, they may end up forcing Bedenbaugh's hand. Either way, the Sooners have options and it's unlikely OU plays the way up front in 2025 the same as it did in 2024. "It's really like anybody," Bedenbaugh said of his freshmen. "Just consistency. It's not the flash things that they do, it's not the freaky athleticism. It's doing things right over and over."
