Animal print is 2025's most divisive trend, here's all the different ways to wear the look

Cosmopolitana day ago

Fashion's love for the prints of the animal kingdom is boundless this season. From full-on matching sets allowing you to don the trend head-to-toe, to more subtle hints in the form of patterned footwear. We've seen every take on the trend this season, but just how much are we *actually* wearing it?
Here, two Cosmo staffers debate whether animal print has a place in their personal wardrobes...
With leopard, zebra, tiger, snake and cow prints appearing on the SS25 runways everywhere from Roberto Cavalli to Jacequemus and the street style set, too, our wardrobes are starting to resemble a zoo. While many have branded this recent influx an 'animal print revival,' these patterns have always been a mainstay in my style arsenal. From a zebra print belt to tiger-striped ballet pumps and a faux snakeskin bag, I rely on animal print accessories to provide a little interest in an otherwise minimal outfit. Or, if I'm feeling bold, I'll wear my leopard print puff-sleeve blouse or cow print jacket as statement pieces. As for what to pair them with? They'll go with pretty much everything you already own: denim, tailored trousers, satin midi skirts – you name it. I can confirm, animal prints are indeed a neutral.

Don't get me wrong, in a year defined by Pantone's 'mocha mousse' I'm all for a little colour and vibrancy in our wardrobes. I don't, however, believe that comes in the form of animal print, unquestionably ruled by the trademark spots of leopard print. Despite many designer labels putting their mark on the pattern, I can't help but find it quite cheap-looking and, dare I say, cheugy? Any design that simultaneously suits both the 'mob-wife' aesthetic *and* Tiger King is a no from me. So, I'm sorry, but you won't see me at the checkout of any high-street retailer with a pair of leopard print jeans in my hands. In any case, TikTok culture has taught me enough about the longevity of trends, and I can't see this one lasting.

TikTok star Khaby Lame leaves US after being detained by immigration officials

Khaby Lame, considered the most popular TikTok star in the world, has left the US after being detained by immigration officials. The influencer was detained in Las Vegas on Friday for allegedly staying in the country after his visa expired. He then voluntarily departed, but officials did not say which day he left. Lame is one of hundreds of people caught in US President Donald Trump's immigration crackdown, which includes cross-country raids and an increasing number of deportations, and which has also sparked days of protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Lame has not publicly commented on his voluntary departure, leaving fans guessing about when he left and where he is now. ICE has said he arrived in the US on 30 April and then overstayed his visa. Officials said he was released the same day he was detained and subsequently left the country. A voluntary departure allows people who are facing removal from the US to avoid having a deportation order on their immigration record. Deportation orders can prevent immigrants from being allowed back into the US for up to a decade. The 25-year-old Senegalese-Italian influencer, who has 162.3 million TikTok followers, became popular during the pandemic for his silent videos and signature facial expressions. Who has been arrested by ICE under Trump? "It's my face and my expressions which make people laugh," Lame told The New York Times in 2021, adding that his reactions speak "a global language". As an Italian citizen, he is allowed to travel to the US for business or tourism for up to 90 days without a visa. Lame attended the Met Gala in May. Otherwise, it is unclear what he was doing while in the US. His deportation has made headlines as he is one of the more high-profile people to be deported in Trump's latest surge to cut illegal immigration into the country. Some 51,000 undocumented migrants were in Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention as of early June - the highest on record since September 2019.

Alex Warren responded to backlash after posting a link to Sabrina Carpenter's latest single, "Manchild," on his Instagram Stories on Monday, June 9 The musician's hit song "Ordinary," which is in its second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, is being challenged by "Manchild" for the top spot on next week's chart Warren addressed the negativity he received on X, calling Carpenter's single a "great record"Talent respects talent. Alex Warren, 24, showed his support for Sabrina Carpenter, 26, after the release of her latest single "Manchild" on Monday, June 10, by posting a Spotify link to her newly-released song. However, his seemingly kind gesture sparked apparent backlash from fans on social media. The TikTok star-turned-musician, whose hit "Ordinary" is in its second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, received mixed feelings from fans as Carpenter's latest single is challenging him for the top spot on next week's Billboard Hot 100. Warren called out the negativity on X later that day, emphasizing his intentions with the Instagram Stories post and making clear his support of Carpenter despite competition on the music charts. "Wait why is everyone so mean on here… music is music. I'm so blessed to be on the chart and I'm also so happy for all the wins in music," he began in the post. "Manchild is such a great record and I'm so honored to be mentioned in the same sentence as Sabrina." Warren concluded, "Ordinary means so much to me and so many people and it's totally ok if it doesn't to you. I'm just happy to be here:)." Users came to his defense, writing words of support under his post. "Can we normalize not harassing artists for no reason at all?! Everyone works hard for their records," wrote one user. "Twitter is not a nice place. IGNORE These trolls," commented another. "Some of us are mature and normal enough to stream both songs and support u both! Thank you for being respectful and not spreading hate towards Sabrina or any other artist," penned a third. Carpenter debuted "Manchild" on June 5 through Island Records, and the accompanying music video was released the following day. In February 2025, Warren's "Ordinary" was released through Atlantic Records as the lead single from his upcoming debut studio album,You'll Be Alright, Kid. Warren previously explained the meaning behind his song, "Ordinary," which he said was inspired by his wife, Kouvr Annon. The couple, who initially found fame as members of the content creation hub Hype House, wed in June 2024. The same month "Ordinary" was released, Annon posted a TikTok in which she compiled clips of Warren performing. "When you watch the person you love do the thing they love most in the world," she wrote at the time. She captioned the post, "I'm the worlds most proud musician wife."
