RIYADH — New Murabba Development Company and Alat have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore advanced vertical mobility solutions — including next-generation elevators and escalators — for The Mukaab and the wider New Murabba development.
The agreement focuses on deploying innovative technologies to enable seamless and intelligent movement within the mega urban destination.
This includes the integration of transformative digital systems to elevate the visitor experience inside The Mukaab through cutting-edge, multi-sensory environments.
Under the MoU, both parties will collaborate on identifying the best financing strategies for initial investments in hardware and R&D.
The agreement also includes a feasibility study to establish high-performance manufacturing facilities in Saudi Arabia capable of meeting project demands, supporting national localization targets tied to New Murabba.Post-installation services such as warranty, maintenance, and software updates will also be jointly assessed.Michael Dyke, CEO of New Murabba Development Company, said the agreement marks a key milestone in delivering a future-ready, smart urban destination."Our partnership with Alat reinforces our commitment to integrating next-gen technologies that will redefine urban living and visitor engagement," he said.Alat CEO Amit Midha described the collaboration as a bold step toward shaping tech-enabled urban life."Combining Alat's AI-driven solutions with New Murabba's ambitious vision opens new possibilities for transformative smart city experiences," he added.The Mukaab is envisioned as a next-generation urban marvel — measuring 400 meters in height, width, and length — making it the tallest and most prominent structure in Riyadh.It combines traditional Najdi architectural aesthetics with advanced technology to create a mixed-use destination offering luxury hospitality, cultural attractions, residential units, retail zones, and interactive entertainment venues.Inside The Mukaab, visitors will be immersed in a world of innovation, from holographic 3D displays to a world-class digital sound system designed to accommodate large-scale performances.The structure will feature a one-of-a-kind lighting system that harmonizes art and innovation, enhancing the visual experience and seamlessly integrating with curated events and exhibitions.A unique pedestrian gateway will guide visitors through a tranquil path transitioning them from the bustling city into this immersive environment.

Diriyah Company Awards $600 Million Contract to Salini Saudi Arabia

Diriyah Company has awarded a SAR2.249 billion ($600 million) construction contract to Salini Saudi Arabia, a subsidiary of the Webuild Group, for the development of the retail centerpiece within Diriyah Square. Located at the heart of Diriyah, the City of Earth, Diriyah Square is a flagship retail district inspired by Najdi architectural heritage. The development will host 400 premium retail, dining, and leisure units, blending international luxury with local artisanal culture. This pedestrian-friendly district is designed to offer an exceptional customer experience and redefine the future of retail and lifestyle in Riyadh. Webuild Group This new contract marks the third major contribution from the Webuild Group to the Diriyah project. Salini is already progressing on several key components: Construction of a 10,500-space underground car park, set to be one of the largest globally. Integration of bus stations, taxi and VIP drop-off points, and a four-lane underground gyratory system. Near completion of structural engineering work for above-ground developments, including hotels, retail spaces, branded residences, offices, and the Grand Mosque. Under this latest agreement, Salini will construct: 73 individual buildings 400 shell-and-core retail units A total built-up area of 365,340 square meters The project includes facades, finishes, and fit-outs for each unit, with all structures showcasing traditional Najdi design themes, creating a unique and walkable shopping environment. New Murabba, a company backed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with South Korea's Heerim Architects & Planners. The collaboration aims to explore innovative and distinctive architectural concepts that align with New Murabba's master plan, focusing on key elements such as anchor assets, linear parks, and smart city features. The MoU was signed in Seoul by Michael Dyke, CEO of New Murabba, and Young Kyoon Jeong, Chairman and CEO of Heerim Architects & Planners, according to a press release issued today. Heerim is internationally acclaimed for its expertise in large-scale urban projects, cultural landmarks, and iconic architectural designs, with a strong portfolio across Asia, the Middle East, and other global markets.
