Ellen DeGeneres shows off her new look and shares a glimpse into farm life as she gardens and feeds chickens after moving to the English countryside

Daily Mail08-05-2025

Ellen DeGeneres shared a glimpse into farm life on Wednesday as she tended to her garden and fed chickens after moving to the English countryside.
The former talk show host, 67, moved to the UK with her wife Portia de Rossi following Donald Trump's presidential win late last year in November.
But Ellen and Portia recently relocated to a different property near Oxfordshire after their Cotswolds home suffered severe flooding shortly after moving in.
However, they seem to have settled into their new home well as they shared snippets of their day-to-day life on the farm.
Ellen cut a casual figure in brown trousers and a blue hoodie as she got to work with a grass trimmer, donning a protective mask.
Portia filmed as she encouragingly quipped: 'Good job, baby' as Ellen got stuck into the gardening task.
She also threw herself into trimming flower bushes in a field on their property, before the couple got to feeding their chickens.
'Come on chickens,' she shouted as she threw food at the animals who ran over to be fed.
In the clip, Ellen also showcased her new hairstyle as she opted for natural brunette locks rather than her usual bleached blonde.
She joked in the caption: 'Some people have a dream of becoming a farmer. Clearly our dream was to become a landscape maintenance crew with a little farming on the side.'
It comes after Ellen shared another glimpse into her English life while taking on the task of mowing the grass.
In the she sat on top of a yellow mower and revealed that she has ditched her signature blonde locks for a brunette shade.
The star could be seen steering the mower through a large field as a layer of gray clouds filled the sky.
Text was added towards the bottom of the reel which read, 'How it started.' The video then cut to Ellen being assisted by an individual after the machine seemingly broke down on a steep hill.
She joked in the caption: 'Some people have a dream of becoming a farmer. Clearly our dream was to become a landscape maintenance crew with a little farming on the side'
The clip concluded as more text popped up onto the screen which said, 'How it ended.'
The comedian also penned in the caption: 'Portia thought it would be fun to film my first time on the mower. She was right.'
Before opting for darker locks, Ellen had sported the blonde shade for years throughout her career.
Ellen has previously given a rare look at her new life in England to her 136 million followers.
Last month in April, she snapped a photo while standing behind Portia as they looked out at the scenic view of the countryside and a double rainbow following a rainfall.
'3 things that make me happy: My Wife A Rainbow And my wife taking a photograph of a Rainbow,' she wrote.
Back in 2020, Ellen was embroiled in controversy after being accused of creating a toxic work environment - and later issued an apology.
After nearly two decades of being on the air, The Ellen Degeneres Show also came to an end just two years later in 2022.
She previously told The Hollywood Reporter, 'I have to just trust that whatever happened during that time, which was obviously very, very difficult, happened for a reason.
'I think that I learned a lot, and there were some things that came up that I was shocked and surprised by. It was eye-opening, but I just trust that that had to happen.'
She stepped in front of the camera once again for her 2024 Netflix special titled Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval.
However upon its release, the project garnered mainly mixed to negative reviews and garnered a score of 33% on Rotten Tomatoes.
A few months earlier in March of this year, Ellen took the big step of listing her Montecito property for $4,995,000.
Less than two weeks later, the star's home sold for over the asking price at $5.2 million.
People reported at the time that the two-bedroom, two-bathroom abode quickly went into escrow after receiving 'multiple offers within two days of hitting the market.'
And back in January, Ellen and Portia had put an additional Montecito property on the market for $29.9 million.
The couple - who tied the knot in 2008 - opted to move into an $18 million house in the Cotswolds area in the U.K. late last year.
The reason the pair chose to relocate to the British countryside rather than Portia's home country of Australia was soon revealed.
A source explained to New Idea, 'Ellen wants to continue with her comedy work, and there is a huge scene in Britain.
'Sitting back and chilling on a beach in Australia is for when she's ready to retire and Ellen's not there yet.'
But after the move, their six-bedroom Cotswolds home was met with severe flooding due to Storm Bert.
An insider informed MailOnline, 'Ellen and Portia have had several issues with the place they initially moved into.
'First there was the flooding, of course, then there was an issue with some locals complaining about some building work carried out at the property.'
DeGeneres and Portia have since moved to a different property which is only a 30 minute drive from the original home that they had bought.
A source recently told DailyMail.com: 'The house is a real Grand Designs number - and it's plain that Ellen and Portia are loving it.'
They added, 'Everything has been done very discreetly so it's not clear what the terms of the deal was but it seems that it has recently changed hands for not much less than they paid for their previous place.
'To buy two properties for eight figure sums in the space of a few months really is unusual, even given the many multi-millionaires around here.'
The source continued, 'And at even a conservative estimate it must have cost Ellen hundreds of thousands of pounds in fees and costs to change her mind so dramatically - perhaps millions.'

Moment Tube driver is caught KNITTING and watching videos on his phone while driving commuters

An easy-going tube driver was caught knitting and watching videos on his phone as he drove commuters around one of the busiest transport networks in the world. Striking footage shows the London Underground operative hard at work on a lion-themed garment as he pulls slowly out of Hendon Central Station in February 2025. The man's phone is also positioned comfortably in front of him so he can watch videos at his leisure. A witness who filmed the spectacle - which took place on a Northern Line train - commented disapprovingly, 'look at him... watching TV, pressing a couple of buttons'. He went on to reference the money the driver earns each year and claimed he can go on strike 'whenever he wants'. The witness later recalled: 'I was so surprised. 'I didn't expect to see someone meant to be at work being so casual about the job. 'Especially because at the time, there were tube strikes going on so it felt mad they were complaining about the job then relaxing on it. The man's phone is also positioned comfortably in front of him so he can watch videos at his leisure 'And, although I don't know how automatic the system is for the tubes, I remember thinking that this person has the passengers' lives in their hands. 'It felt crazy that this driver wouldn't take that more seriously.' Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed the driver in the video was sacked from his job. A spokesman said: 'This video was made earlier in the year. 'We carried out a full investigation and the person involved no longer works at TfL.' Many social media users have taken to TikTok to share their thoughts on the video. One person said: 'He's risking his career for a bit of TV.' Another added: 'The driver shouldn't be doing that, they should be focussing - that's dangerous.' But a number of people offered their support to the tube worker amid the criticism. Someone said: 'What do you want him to be doing? Steering?'

'It was more like blurred the lines of friendships for me, that was normal. 'It felt comfortable because I'd done that as a teenager and I, as a teenager, I dated both men and women. My ex-husband knew. My family knew. It was never a secret for me.' Christine, who was with Paddy for a total of 16 years, said that before him she did date women and her longest relationship latest around two years. 'My longest was two years before I met my ex-husband and then I've had really, really lovely long situation shifts where we purposely haven't put a label on anything', she added. 'But my experiences with women have been lovely and It's not like women are better or worse. 'It's simply that the connection for me is different. I need a connection now. I need something different.

Witnesses have claimed that a billionaire friend of Prince William told his teammates 'I've swallowed something' before he died after 'ingesting a bee' during polo match. Sunjay Kapur, 53, collapsed in front of horrified teammates during the game at Guards Polo Club in Windsor. Indian-born Mr Kapur was thought to have suffered a fatal heart attack after being stung in the mouth, potentially triggering anaphylactic shock. It was first claimed by witnesses that he out cried 'I've swallowed something' leading to assumption he may have ingested an insect, the Telegraph reports. Mr Kapur, chairman of global car parts giant Sona Comstar, had hours earlier paid tribute online to the victims of yesterday's Air India plane crash tragedy. He posted: 'Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected. May they find strength in this difficult hour.' In a statement, Sona Comstar said: 'We are deeply saddened by the sudden demise of our Chairman, Mr Sunjay Kapur. 'He was a visionary leader whose passion, insight and dedication shaped the identity and success of our company.' Author and actor Suhel Seth posted on X, formerly Twitter: 'Deeply saddened at the passing of @sunjaykapur: he passed away earlier today in England. 'A terrible loss and deepest condolences to his family and to his colleagues.' Mr Kapur's former wife, Bollywood star Karisma Kapoor, has previously spoken in interviews about him playing polo with the Prince of Wales. The University of Buckingham graduate married Priya Sachdev Kapur, a former model and entrepreneur with whom he had a son named Azarias Kapur born in 2018. Mr Kapur died as his Aureus team were playing in a semi-final match in the Cartier Queen's Cup against Sujan Indian Tigers. The match started at 3pm on Tuesday, June 12 at the club's Smith's Lawn grounds. The club is closely associated with the Royal family. Prince Philip was the club's president from the time it was founded in January 1955 until his death in April 2021 - holding the role for 66 years. King Charles became the club's new president last year. In a statement the club said its chairman Lieutenant Colonel Sean O'Dwyer along with 'directors and members' were 'shocked to learn that Sunjay Kapur, owner of the Aureus polo team, died after becoming unwell when playing in a match at Smith's Lawn'. The statement added: 'The club sends its deepest condolences to his widow, Priya Sachdev, his children, the wider Kapur family and his Aureus team-mates. ' The Hurlingham Polo Association (HPA), the sports governing body in the UK, said: 'The HPA is enormously sad to confirm that Sunjay Kapur, patron of the Aureus Polo Team, passed away during a match at Guards on Thursday, 12 June. 'The incident was not playing-related and no further details will be released at this time. 'As the governing body, the HPA are supporting those involved and our thoughts are with Sunjay's wife Priya, his family, and the team at this time, and we kindly request that their privacy is respected.' Following news of his tragic death, Ashoka University, in the Indian capital New Delhi, posted online: 'Ashoka University mourns the passing away of Sunjay Kapur, Chairman, Sona Comstar and a valued member of the Ashoka fraternity. 'A prominent figure in India's business community, he will be remembered for his leadership. 'Our deepest sympathies are with his family at this difficult time.' And the Doon School in India - hailed as the country's equivalent to Eton - said they were 'deeply saddened' by the death of one of their former pupils. A statement shared online described Mr Kapur as 'a passionate fitness and sport enthusiast and a learner for life' who 'worked to make polo more accessible beyond its traditional roots'. The school added: 'Mr Kapur's enduring commitment to excellence, service, and community leaves a lasting legacy. 'The Doon School family extends its heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. Rest in peace.' Mr Kapur has been described as a regular on the polo circuit favoured by the royal family. His global automotive company Sona Comsta, with operations across India, the US, China, Mexico and Serbia, provided key electric vehicle industry supplies. Mr Kapur's other positions included being president of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India and co-chair of the Confederation of Indian Industry's Manufacturing Council. The Guards Club has been described as 'the most prestigious polo club in the world, and members of the Royal Family including King Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry have frequently played there. It was originally named the Household Brigade Polo Club and British Army officers of the Household Division regiments were traditionally exempt from paying its joining fee which today stands at £45,000. It changed its name in 1969 then became 'a fully civilian club' in 2000 and is now the largest polo club in Europe in terms of membership and number of grounds. The club hosts around 600 matches a year with its season starting in April each year and finishing in mid September.
