What the F*ck: Marc Maron's WTF Podcast Coming to an End

Geek Feed6 days ago

It looks like a podcast institution is officially coming to an end. As he announced on his podcast WTF with Marc Maron (via Deadline) , Maron and his team are set to end the podcast after 16 years and close to 2000 episodes. ' Sixteen years we've been doing this, and we've decided that we had a great run. Now, basically, it's time, folks. It's time. WTF is coming to an end. It's our decision. We'll have our final episode sometime in the fall,' Maron says in the latest episode.
Maron had started the podcast back in 2009 and has since grown it into one of the most popular shows of all-time with 1.1 billion downloads. Maron is best known for having some great celebrity guests; while most of them have been comedians and writers, he also had high profile guests like President Barack Obama as well as musicians like Paul McCartney. He even managed to get Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio to do an interview together while they were promoting Once Upon a Time in Hollywood for Tarantino.
For now, Maron is chalking up the series closing due to him and his team being 'burnt out'. 'It really comes down to the fact that we've put up a new show every Monday and Thursday for almost sixteen years and we're tired. We're burnt out. And we are utterly satisfied with the work we've done. We've done great work, ' says Maron.
It also does seem like Maron is focusing more on stand-up and acting. Ever since GLOW , Maron has been appearing in more projects onscreen like Joker and The Bad Guys . He's also been in TV projects like Reservation Dogs and the upcoming Stick starring Owen Wilson.
Though Maron is closing the door on WTF , he does say that he could eventually get back to it in the future. He continues, ' This doesn't mean I'm never going to do something like this again. Doesn't mean I'll never have talks like I do here, or some kind of podcast at some point in time. But for now, we're just wrapping things up. It's okay. It's okay to end things. It's okay to try to start some other chapter in your life.'
WTF with Marc Maron is set to end this Fall. Watch out for Maron in Stick which premieres on Apple TV+ on June 4.

Nick Frost v Tom Felton: How Potter Actors React to J.K. Rowling Controversy

Ever since J.K. Rowling became a figure in transphobia, a lot of people have been questioned on what their opinion is of her, and what it feels like to be connected to a franchise that she created. The actors for the original Harry Potter and the upcoming reboot have been asked about their opinions on Rowling, and while some have been very vocal about their disagreement with her, there are some that feel like they're fence-sitting on the issue—one such actor is Tom Felton. When asked recently about the controversy surrounding Rowling, Felton replied: Tom Felton says the controversy around J.K. Rowling's political views doesn't impact him: "I'm not really that attuned to it…I have not seen anything bring the world together more than Potter. She's responsible for that, so I'm incredibly grateful." #TonyAwards — Variety (@Variety) June 8, 2025 ' I'm not really that attuned to it…I have not seen anything bring the world together more than Potter. She's responsible for that, so I'm incredibly grateful.' Already, the comments were filled with people saying that Felton is coming out as insensitive to trans issues and that he's 'spineless' for not even saying anything about Rowling. On the other hand, we have Nick Frost who has been cast as the new Hagrid for the Potter reboot. While he has been getting flak for participating in the reboot in the first place, Frost told The Observer (via Deadline) about his thoughts on Rowling: 'She's allowed her opinion and I'm allowed mine, they just don't align in any way, shape or form.' Besides that, Frost also adds that the controversy surrounding Potter should invite people to do more of their research when it comes to the issue. He adds, ' But maybe it shouldn't blow over? We shouldn't just hope it will go away, because it makes it easier. Maybe we should educate ourselves.' Admittedly, I myself needed to do a lot more research on why Rowling has been considered a 'TERF' by the LGBTQ+ community; and while a lot of her statements seem very pro-woman and well-informed, several other sources have proved that things that Rowling are saying aren't backed up by statistics, and they only further the divide when it comes to the understanding of trans people. For now, no release date has been set for the Potter reboot.

Stick: Golf Series Starring Owen Wilson Wants to be the Next Ted Lasso

Satire may have taken over modern comedy, but there's still room for some more sincere laughs with shows like Ted Lasso on Apple TV+. The series is expected to come back for one more season, but we do have a trailer for another series that pretty much wants to fill in that Lasso -shaped hole. Check out Stick starring Owen Wilson and Marc Maron and its trailer down here: Here's the official description: In 'Stick,' Owen Wilson stars as Pryce Cahill, an over-the-hill, ex-pro golfer whose career was derailed prematurely 20 years ago. After the collapse of his marriage and getting fired from his job at an Indiana sporting goods store, Pryce hedges his bets, and future, entirely on a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom named Santi (Peter Dager). 'Stick' is a heartfelt, feel-good comedy about a found family and their relationships set within the world of golf as it has never been shown before. Just like Ted Lasso took a look at professional football, Stick is going to be looking into the world of professional golf, and the series is going to be bringing in all kinds of golf superstars like Collin Morikawa, Max Homa, Keegan Bradley, and more. Other golf figures are also expected to make an appearance including broadcasters Jim Nantz and Trevor Immelman, as well as enthusiast Dan Rapaport. The series looks like it's wholesome enough, and we know that Lightning McQueen himself can be pretty inspiring despite being a troubled athlete. I'm just excited to see Marc Maron on a series again; seeing that I missed him when GLOW on Netflix got cancelled. Watch out for Stick when it premieres on Apple TV+ on June 4.
