Brentford sign Feyenoord midfielder Milambo

BBC News2 days ago
Brentford head coach Keith Andrews believes Antoni Milambo can be a key player for the Bees after he joined from Feyenoord.Andrews said the midfielder, who has signed a five-year contract with an option for a further year, will "complement the midfielders we have in the building"."Antoni has played a lot of football in the last 12 months and really shot to prominence," Andrews said."He's had experience in the Eredivisie, Champions League and most recently the Under-21 Euros with the Netherlands."The Dutchman made 60 appearances for Feyenoord, who finished third in the Eredivisie last season and made it to the knockout stages of the Champions League, before being knocked out by eventual finalists Inter Milan."I love the way that Antoni takes the ball and drives - he has the ability to go past players and he's a goal threat," said Andrews. "He will complement the midfielders we have in the building. "Now it's just a case of getting him used to the intensity and rhythm of the Premier League and our own intensity levels. I am looking forward to working with him."Brentford's technical director, Lee Dykes added that the club had been following Milambo "for a few years" and that he is a "skilful, forward-thinking player capable of scoring all types of goals".

£8.6m 'Brazilian magician' sparks Rangers transfer swirls as Dor Turgeman teammate 'targeted' for Ibrox move

Brazilian wing wizard Weslley Patati has been linked with a move to Ibrox Reports in Brazil claim Rangers are interested in a Maccabi Tel Aviv forward – but this time it's not Dor Turgeman in the headlines. It's his teammate, 21-year-old Weslley Patati, who has affectionately been dubbed the 'Brazilian magician' by his fans. ‌ The Ibrox side have kicked their recruitment drive into life in recent days with Thelo Aasgaard and Emmanuel Fernandez arriving in a £6m double swoop this week. They've also brought in Max Aarons and are closing in on a deal for Conor Coady. ‌ But strengthening further up the pitch is also part of the plan. We've heard Jamie Vardy's name mentioned while striker Turgeman is firmly on the radar. However things appear to have taken a twist as multiple reports in South America claim Turgeman's teammate Patati is also an option being pursued. It's claimed the Ibrox side are on a long list of clubs keen on the 21-year-old. AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands, Al Wahda and Al Ain in the UAE and Girona in Spain are all said to be keen alongside unnamed teams in the Premier League and Championship down south. It's added that AZ and the UAE clubs have submitted offers up to the value of €4m (£3.5m) – but that the Tel Aviv club aren't entertaining that and want €10m (£8.6m) before they'll consider selling him. That's due to the fact his former club Santos hold 40 per cent of his rights and would be due a sizeable chunk of whatever Maccabi sell him for. Complicating the situation further is swirling interest in their other striker Turgeman – they don't want to lose both this window and see Patati, who starred last season with 13 goals and 10 assists, as a key figure in softening the blow should Turgeman depart. ‌ A product of the famed Santos academy, Maccabi brought Patati in last summer and he's hit the ground running immediately with a stunning debut season that saw him dubbed the 'Brazilian Magician' by adoring fans. He featured right across the forward line, though primarily from the right wing which is exactly where Rangers need to strengthen to replace Vaclav Cerny. Musiala suffers suspected broken ankle in Bayern clash with PSG

ATLANTA, July 5 (Reuters) - Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala sustained a suspected broken ankle during the first half of their Club World Cup quarter-final against Paris St Germain on Saturday. The 22-year-old Germany international was injured in added time before the break following a collision in PSG's penalty area. As Musiala challenged defender William Pacho for the ball, goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma inadvertently rolled over Musiala's left ankle, twisting it at an alarming angle. Bayern's medical team rushed on to the pitch as Donnarumma, visibly shaken, dropped to the ground with his hands on his head in disbelief at the severity of the injury. Players from both teams formed a circle around Musiala who was carried off the field on a stretcher. Referee Anthony Taylor brought the first half to an early conclusion after the incident with the scores level at 0-0.

'One of the league's best ever right-backs'

We asked you how Kyle Walker will be remembered now he has left Manchester City for are some of your comments:Adam: Fondly! Right backs aren't right-backs anymore but you knew Kyle always had the legs to get back and put a cracking tackle in. He's had so many world class left-wingers in his back He won them all, played alongside some of the world's best players, and captained the club (as part of the captain's group) during its most successful spell. Nothing but thanks from Unbelievable player - what a great signing. He gave City a trophy-laden career. One of England's best-ever full-backs. Loved Despite a serious drop off in form last season, most fans will have fond memories of Kyle Walker and what he did to help the club achieve what they did during his tenure. Now is the right time for him to move on A legend of the club. He gave There's no doubt he's been so integral in all that City has won with Pep, especially the Treble year when City were at their very best in Europe. His pace helped us out of transition with the world's best forwards. His off-field decisions at times may taint his legacy, but on the pitch he was so important. I wish him all the best with Burnley. His experience will count for A fantastic player who has been one of the best right-backs the club and Premier League have seen. Played a key role so often and when he came up against the best in the Premier League and in the Champions League, he was entirely dependable. In the more recent period, his role as club captain was less clear and acceptable. In my opinion, it was not appropriate given the more negative aspects of his off-field life that has clearly affected his on-field performances.
