Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has been awarded the 2025 International Safety Award by the British Safety Council, recognising its outstanding performance in managing health and safety across its worksites.
The award, received at the 'Distinction' level, reflects RTA's strong commitment to protecting its workforce and promoting a safe, healthy, and secure working environment.
The British Safety Council's International Safety Award honours organisations worldwide that have demonstrated excellence in preventing workplace injuries, managing occupational health risks, and promoting overall employee well-being. In this year's edition, 874 organisations from 45 countries applied for the award, with RTA standing out for its integrated health and safety management systems.
RTA's award-winning submission showcased a series of initiatives aimed at improving occupational safety and supporting employee well-being. These efforts are aligned with the RTA Strategic Plan 2024–2030, which prioritises safety and security across mobility systems, asset protection, institutional resilience, and staff well-being.
The achievement highlights RTA's status as a global leader in workplace safety and underscores the authority's proactive approach in embedding health and safety considerations into every decision, project, and policy. The distinction also reflects the strong culture of well-being and mental health support fostered across RTA's operations.
Celebrating its 67th year, the International Safety Award is one of the most prestigious recognitions in the field of occupational health and safety. It honours entities that demonstrate consistent leadership and innovation in creating safe and inclusive work environments.
By securing this accolade, RTA reaffirms its dedication to continuous improvement in safety standards and sets a benchmark for public sector excellence in employee care, risk mitigation, and sustainable operations.

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will open a new exit from the collector road in early August for vehicles travelling from Financial Centre Street towards Ras Al Khor Road, near Bu Kadra Interchange. The improvement forms part of RTA's Rapid Traffic Solutions Plan, which aims to enhance road network efficiency and improve traffic flow in Ras Al Khor area. The area borders several developments, commercial zones, and industrial zones. The new exit improves traffic movement at Bu Kadra Interchange by reducing travel time for vehicles using the collector road from Financial Centre Street towards Ras Al Khor Road. The improvement also eases congestion for vehicles heading towards Dubai–Al Ain Road. Peak-hour travel time has been cut by 54 per cent, from 13 minutes to 6 minutes, as a result of the new exit. The development complements a series of traffic improvements in Ras Al Khor area. Exit 25 from Ras Al Khor Road to Al Khail Road in the direction of Al Meydan Street was widened from a single lane to two lanes over a 500-metre stretch. The upgrade doubled capacity to 3,000 vehicles per hour, reducing queues and cutting peak-period travel time from 7 minutes to 4 minutes. This has improved traffic flow at the junction.
