Edelweiss BSE Internet Economy Index Fund: Edelweiss Mutual Fund has launched its Edelweiss BSE Internet Economy Index Fund. It is an open-ended index fund replicating the BSE Internet Economy Total Return Index. The new fund offer (NFO) will open for subscription on April 25, 2025, and close on May 9, 2025.
It is India's first index fund offering exposure to the BSE Internet Economy Index. The index covers 11 sub-industries, including e-retail, internet and catalogue retail, e-learning, digital entertainment, financial technologies and other digitally driven sectors.
The BSE Internet Economy Index comprises the top 20 companies selected from the BSE 500 based on their six-month average market capitalisation.
Investors can invest a minimum amount of ₹100 and in multiples of ₹1 thereafter. According to the scheme information document (SID), if the units are redeemed or switched out on or before 30 days from the date of allotment, an exit load of 0.10 per cent will be charged. However, no exit load will be charged, if units are redeemed after 30 days from the date of allotment.
The investment objective of Edelweiss BSE Internet Economy Index Fund is to provide returns that, before expenses, closely correspond to the total returns of the BSE Internet Economy Total Return Index, subject to tracking errors. However, there is no assurance or guarantee that the investment objective of the scheme will be achieved, as per the SID.
Bhavesh Jain and Bharat Lohati serve as the designated fund managers for the scheme.
There are some risk factors associated with the scheme such as heavy reliance on a single sector means that poor performance in that area can lead to substantial losses, according to the SID.
According to the riskometer, the principal invested in the scheme will be at very high risk.
Radhika Gupta, managing director and chief executive officer at Edelweiss Mutual Fund said that India's digital economy is growing four times faster than its overall GDP, and is expected to achieve rapid and transformative growth.
"With increasing internet penetration and tech adoption across sectors, we see a compelling opportunity for investors to participate in this digital revolution," Gupta said.
The fund offers investors an opportunity to invest in a pure-play internet and digital economy-focused portfolio, she added.
Edelweiss BSE Internet Economy Index Fund: Who should invest?
According to the SID, the Edelweiss BSE Internet Economy Index Fund is suitable for investors seeking long-term capital appreciation along with passive investment in equity and equity-related securities replicating the composition of the BSE Internet Economy Total Returns Index, subject to tracking errors. However, "investors should consult their financial advisers if in doubt about whether the product is suitable for them," it said.

Radhika Gupta hails move back to India as ‘best decision' on Independence Day

Edelweiss Mutual Fund Managing Director and CEO Radhika Gupta marked India's 78th Independence Day with a personal reflection on her decision to return to the country in 2009, calling it 'the best decision of my life' despite warnings she was leaving behind 'huge opportunities in the US — a potential green card, a dollar salary, a better lifestyle.' ADVERTISEMENT On Friday, Gupta took to microblogging site X, formerly Twitter, to recount how, 16 years ago, she chose to leave the United States at a time when friends and peers urged her to stay. 'Most people said it was a bad idea,' she wrote, recalling the advice she received about career and lifestyle prospects abroad. 'But my belief — then and now — was that I wasn't walking away from opportunity in America… I was walking into the opportunity that is India,' Gupta said. She described that opportunity as a chance 'to build. To make an impact. To have a voice. To live where three generations can celebrate together. To embrace heritage. To grow.' 'It truly has been the best decision of my life,' she wrote, expressing gratitude to the country: 'Happy Independence Day, India. Thank you for the opportunities. I am committed, every day, to making the most of them.' She concluded her post with a Hindi verse, which translates to, 'The fragrance of the soil, the song of the winds — here lie my dreams, here lies my love.' The post comes a few days after Edelweiss Mutual Fund launched its Multi Asset Omni Fund of Fund, which Gupta had earlier described on X as a 'simple, timeless dal chawal solution' for investors. The scheme, open for subscription until August 26, allocates 65% to domestic equity, 10% each to gold and silver, and 15% to fixed income. ADVERTISEMENT According to the fund house, the scheme is built for balance, aiming to generate capital appreciation and income through a diversified portfolio of equity, debt, and gold and silver exchange-traded funds. It will reopen for continuous sale and repurchase by September 11, with fund managers Bhavesh Jain and Bharat Lahoti at the helm. ‘Private Markets New Equity': Edelweiss Mutual Fund's Radhika Gupta Highlights Investors' Shifting Risk Appetite

Last Updated: Edelweiss Mutual Fund MD Radhika Gupta notes a shift in investor behavior towards high-risk investments, redefining large-cap equities as stable options. For long-term investors, the large-cap equities have remained a preferred choice due to a blend of growth and stability. However, investor behaviour is shifting dramatically with an appetite for higher risk. According to Edelweiss Mutual Fund MD and CEO Radhika Gupta, stable instruments like large-cap equities are being redefined amid a shift towards high-risk, high-reward investment avenues among investors. 'Large-cap is the new debt. Private markets are the new equity," she wrote recently. — Radhika Gupta (@iRadhikaGupta) August 6, 2025 She added, 'An interesting quote I heard today that summarises how risk appetite has shifted upwards in the last 5 years, and some asset allocation buckets have been forgotten." Through her post, Gupta expressed the prevailing market sentiment, highlighting a trend where investors' risk appetite has shifted towards high-return instruments, leading to a change in conventional asset allocation. Previously, fixed-income assets like government bonds or high-grade debt instruments were seen as the safer, low-return options. However, with the market maturing and returns across asset classes evolving, investors have started placing large-cap funds in the 'stable' bucket. Much of the aggressive play is taking place in private markets such as venture capital, private equity and unlisted debt. 'My favourite index in this Nifty500 space is Nifty500 Multicap Momentum Quality 50," said Gupta, as quoted by Business Today, elaborating on the switch while attributing the same to the expanding Nifty500-based indices. The Nifty500 Multicap Momentum Quality 50, Gupta says, offers the simplicity of multi-cap portfolios, while also adding quality mid and small caps to the mix and creating momentum. Nifty 500 TRI, Nifty 500 Momentum 500 TRI, Nifty 500 Multicap, Momentum Quality 50 TRI, Nifty 500 Quality 50 TRI and Nifty 500 Flexicap Quality 30 TRI are the five unique indices in the category, according to Gupta. She also encouraged investors to explore the first and only index fund and ETF tracking the Nifty500, launched by Edelweiss Mutual Fund. The performance of the large-cap mutual fund reflects well on the evolving role of the asset class. Returns over the last six months have remained modest amid global market pressures. Over one year, funds like WhiteOak Capital Large Cap Fund managed to deliver 8%, as per the Business Today report. Over three years, ICICI Prudential and DSP Large Cap Funds have given impressive annualised returns of around 18-19 per cent, supported by smart portfolio strategies. Over the five years, Nippon India Large Cap Fund delivered a stellar 25.91 per cent CAGR, while thematic ETFs like BHARAT 22 gave over 33 per cent returns, the report added. view comments Location : Delhi, India, India First Published: August 13, 2025, 16:00 IST News business 'Private Markets New Equity': Edelweiss Mutual Fund's Radhika Gupta Highlights Investors' Shifting Risk Appetite Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
