The Major Way The Summer I Turned Pretty TV Show Changed Jeremiah & Belly's Cheating Storyline From the Books
The third season of the series is based on the third book, called We'll Always Have Summer. Series creator and writer Jenny Han did say that the series didn't have to completely follow the premise of the books she wrote. That isn't to say that every piece of the TV series will follow the book. 'If you knew exactly what was going to happen, it wouldn't be a very satisfying show-watching experience,' Han told Time in 2023. 'Part of the enjoyment of watching TV or movies is that you don't know. I am always trying to preserve the audience experience—my aim is to surprise and delight and to give the fans the best possible story.'

When does Jeremiah cheat on Belly?
Like the show, Jeremiah cheated on Belly before the events of the book. In chapter three of We'll Always Have Summer, Belly overhears Lacie at a frat party talking to a friend that she hooked up with Jeremiah.
Belly confronts Jeremiah at the party, and he brushes her away until she asks him if he really cheated on her. Jeremiah confesses that he did have sex with Lacie, but thought that he and Belly were broken up at the time. Belly argues that they weren't really broken up, but Jeremiah insists that he didn't know that. She slaps him, and they break up. But in a couple of days, they have a heart-to-heart and realize they don't want to be apart. Jeremiah later proposes, and Belly enthusiastically says yes.
Unlike the books, the Amazon series shows Jeremiah cheating on Belly, not once. But twice, with the same person.
Jenny Han says that it's up to the viewer if Jeremiah actually cheated or not. 'It's debatable whether or not that's considered cheating or not,' she told People. 'Because they technically were broken up. It's really how different people [interpret it].'
Later on in the book, Conrad finds out that Jeremiah cheated on Belly during their 'break,' and tells Belly. Belly tells her former lover that she already knew, which then spirals to Conrad professing his love once Conrad asks Belly to cancel her wedding to Jeremiah and be with him, but she tells him no.
However, things take a turn when Jeremiah reads a letter meant for Conrad from their mother, Susannah, saying that she could only see him with Belly. Jeremiah then confronts Belly about whether she still loved Conrad, and though she protests, he doesn't believe her and calls off the wedding. Belly and Conrad reunite, and they eventually get married.

The pair were initially only slated to do a single season of the show in 2023 — which was intended to be an anthology series with a different cast each season — but they quickly realized they wanted to sign on for more. 'As we were shooting the first season, I was kind of pushing for [creators Nicholas Stoller and Francesca Delbanco] to brainstorm how it could continue and how to not replace us with other people, and thank god they listened,' Rogen told THR at the season 2 premiere. 'In film, chemistry is a mysterious thing,' Rogen later added when asked about his on-screen dynamic with Byrne. 'You never know who you're going to have good chemistry with. There's people who are great friends in real life that have terrible chemistry on screen. I've had great chemistry with people I don't particularly like that much, and so I'm very lucky in this situation where I have chemistry with someone who I actually like. So I think that's why we keep working together over and over again,' he continued. For her part, Byrne said that Rogen makes working together 'easy.' Soulja Boy arrested on weapons charge
Soulja Boy is in legal trouble again, thanks to an early morning traffic stop. The Crank That (Soulja Boy) rapper was a passenger in a car that was pulled over at the intersection of Melrose and Genesee avenues in Los Angeles at 2:35 am on Sunday, TMZ reported. The news was confirmed by the Los Angeles Police Department, who said that Soulja Boy, legally named DeAndre Cortez Way, was arrested for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, after a gun was spotted in the car. "A passenger was detained, and police arrested DeAndre Cortez Way for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm," the LAPD stated. Soulja Boy is best known for his chart-topping 2007 single Crank That, plus other hits such as Turn My Swag On and Kiss Me Thru the Phone. He is also well known for his legal woes. In April, he was ordered to pay $4 million (£3 million) to a woman who accused him of sexual assault During a 2021 interview with Paper, Soulja Boy spoke about his standing in the rap community.
