‘Around the Horn' canceled after 23-year run on ESPN

Yahoo05-03-2025

NEW YORK — ESPN is canceling afternoon sports debate show 'Around the Horn' after a 23-year run.
The show, which has broadcast more than 4,900 episodes, will air for the last time on May 23.
'ATH' premiered in November 2002 with host Max Kellerman. Current host Tony Reali took over the reins in 2004 when Kellerman decamped for Fox Sports.
''Around the Horn' has had a remarkable run of more than two decades. That kind of longevity in media is incredibly rare, and we look forward to celebrating the show's many accomplishments before the final sign-off in May,' said David Roberts, ESPN executive VP and executive editor of sports news and entertainment.
The show, which airs ahead of 'Pardon the Interruption' and the evening edition of 'SportsCenter,' features Reali moderating a debate between four rotating sportswriters from across the country — making panelists like JA Adande, Jemele Hill, Bomani Jones, Mina Kimes, Jackie MacMullan, Pablo Torre, Woody Paige and many others into household names. Many contributors to the show have gone on to careers at the World Wide Leader in Sports.
The network said a half-hour version of 'SportsCenter' will run in the 'ATH' time slot this summer, but did not revealed any other future plans.
In recent years, ESPN has announced a number of changes — including a future separation from Major League Baseball — and layoffs of on-air and behind-the-scenes talent, including Zach Lowe, Jeff Van Gundy and Suzy Kolber, as well as several executives.

2025 Wimbledon odds: Is Jannik Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz favored?

One of the greatest matches in the history of men's tennis took place on Sunday at Roland Garros. World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz took down World No. 1 Jannik Sinner in an epic five-set marathon, winning 4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 7-6. And just like that, it's time to look ahead to the third Grand Slam of the year: Wimbledon. Let's look at the early odds for the world's most prestigious tennis tournament, as of June 8. Wimbledon men 2025 Carlos Alcaraz: +150 (bet $10 to win $25 total)Jannik Sinner: +160 (bet $10 to win $26 total)Novak Djokovic: +500 (bet $10 to win $60 total)Jack Draper: +1000 (bet $10 to win $110 total)Alexander Zverev: +1800 (bet $10 to win $190 total)Daniil Medvedev: +2500 (bet $10 to win $260 total)Taylor Fritz: +3000 (bet $10 to win $310 total)Matteo Berrettini: +3000 (bet $10 to win $310 total)Lorenzo Musetti: +3000 (bet $10 to win $310 total) Alex De Minaur: +3000 (bet $10 to win $310 total) As a tennis fan, surely it is hard to breathe after that one. Coming into the match, Sinner had only lost once on the year — to Alcaraz in the final at Rome. Sinner had also won the last two Grand Slams: the 2024 US Open and the 2025 Australian Open. Alcaraz, however, won Roland Garros in 2024 and was looking to defend his title, all while cementing his status as the best clay court player in the world now that Rafael Nadal has entered retirement. Alcaraz did just that, fighting off a two-set deficit and three match points in the fourth set before winning the title via a fifth-set tiebreak. Unreal. Alcaraz is now 5-0 in Grand Slam finals. Sinner drops to 3-1. As for Wimbledon, Alcaraz is the defending champion there and opens as the slightest favorite over Sinner. Alcaraz has won the last two titles at the All England Club, defeating Novak Djokovic in both of those finals. Wimbledon will take place June 30 through July 13 in London, England. Carlos Alcaraz pulls off comeback to take down Jannik Sinner in French Open thriller

The 2025 French Open men's singles final wound up being one of the greatest matches in tennis history. No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz took down No. 1 seed Jannik Sinner in five sets (4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 7-6) to win his second straight title at Roland Garros. Alcaraz's comeback in Sunday's championship was one for the ages. Not only did he come back from a two-set deficit, he also faced a triple championship point when Sinner was ahead 5-3 in the fourth set. The Spaniard wound up winning the set on a tiebreak. Alcaraz appeared to be in control in the fifth set, but Sinner stormed back to take a 6-5 lead in the decisive fifth set. However, Alcaraz won the 12th game in order to force a tiebreak, which he won 10-2. The match took over five hours, making it the second-longest match in a men's singles championship final at a Grand Slam event. Sunday's victory marked Alcaraz's fifth Grand Slam title and his fifth straight win over Sinner. This is a developing story and will be updated. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox?
