Will move a privilege motion for holding closed-door meeting: BRS
'Instead of holding an open discussion, it is shameful that the CM lacked the courage to call for an open discussion. This is a blatant insult to democratic values and a breach of legislative privileges,' he said, in a press release.
Strongly condemning Mr. Revanth Reddy's 'baseless and misleading' statements regarding irrigation and water rights in Telangana, he tried to turn the tables accusing the Congress government of 'mortgaging Telangana's rightful share of water resources' and attempting to 'mislead people with fabricated data and staged presentations'.
The senior BRS leader said people are 'laughing' at the government for ignoring farmers' demands for water supply by activating irrigation pumps and instead focusing on 'propaganda-filled PowerPoint presentations'. He accused Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka of exposing their ignorance yet again by 'parroting falsehoods'.
'Unable to confront the truth, you are trying to deceive Telangana with false statistics and misinformation. The entire Telangana society is disgusted by the repeated lies and betrayal of Congress,' said Mr. Harish Rao. The former Minister contested the government's claim of irrigating 50 lakh acres in united A.P. and called it an 'absolute lie'. 'If you have the courage, show us the evidence. The reality is that BRS irrigated 48.74 lakh acres in just nine-and-a-half years. This is confirmed even in the Irrigation department's official reports given to you,' he claimed.
'It was the Congress government which had abandoned the Pranahita-Chevella project because of its own 'inefficiency' and accepted to an unfair 299:512 Krishna water sharing ratio pre-bifurcation. Whereas the KCR government had submitted affidavits for 573 TMC to the tribunal,' he claimed.
Mr. Rao also accused the CM of 'sabotaging' the Medigadda Barrage for not taking up repairs despite 'NDSA's recommendation and L&T's readiness'. The government is now 'conspiring' to transfer Godavari and Krishna rivers' waters to Andhra Pradesh via Banakacherla, he added.

Op Sindoor stands for India's new doctrine: Nadda
New Delhi: Union Minister and BJP president Jagat Prakash Nadda on Wednesday lashed out at the Congress during the Operation Sindoor debate in the Rajya Sabha. He accused the Congress of not taking any action after terror attacks when the grand old party was in power between 2004 and 2014. He further stated that trade between India and Pakistan continued even after these attacks. "The then government took no action in 2005 Delhi Serial bomb blasts, 2006 Varanasi terror attack, 2006 Mumbai local trains bomb blasts.... the point is - terror and trade and tourism continued between India and Pakistan then..." the BJP president said in the Rajya Sabha. '..We need to understand the limits of their (then Congress govt) appeasement that after 2008 Jaipur bomb blasts by Indian Mujahideen, India and Pakistan agreed on a specific confidence-building hume goliyoon se bhunte rahe aur hum unko biryani khilane chale (they kept on firing bullets, but we served them biryani)...They gave permission for a triple-entry permit to cross the LoC,' he added. Nadda stated that after the 2008 Mumbai attacks, the then UPA government failed to mention this attack at the 2009 SCO Summit. He added that there was 'no political will' at that time to take action against the perpetrators of terrorism. 'We had the same police, Army, but there was no political the 2009 SCO Summit, there was no mention of such a big terror attack in 2008,' the Union Minister stated.

You gave away PoK, we will get it back: Shah
New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the Congress in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday during the debate on Operation Sindoor, holding it responsible for the loss of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and asserting that it would be reclaimed under the Bharatiya Janata Party's leadership. Speaking in the Upper House, Shah remarked, 'I want to tell the Congress party, it was you who gave away Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), but it is the BJP that will bring it back.' He detailed India's retaliatory actions following the Pahalgam terror attack and emphasised that while India targeted terrorist infrastructure, Pakistan misconstrued it as an attack on itself. Shah added, 'We carried out targeted strikes on terrorist hideouts, on their headquarters, their organisations, their training camps and launching pads. Our attack was on terrorism, but Pakistan mistook it as an attack on itself.' Referring to the April 22 Pahalgam attack, Shah said, 'On 22 April, terrorists carried out an attack in Pahalgam. In response, we had the right to dismantle the entire terror ecosystem, a right recognised globally, and we exercised that right.' He further mentioned, 'When Pakistan said it didn't want conflict, we accepted it…' Shah reaffirmed the government's commitment to eradicating terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir. 'Today, standing in this House, I promise that Jammu and Kashmir will be free from terrorism. This is the resolve of the Narendra Modi government,' he declared.

TG seeks lower interest rates on REC loans
Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Wednesday poured out its financial woes before the Rural Electricity Corporation (REC) and urged it to lower interest rates on loans taken by the previous BRS government for the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP). Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy met REC Managing Director Jitendra Srivastava in New Delhi and explained the mounting financial burden on the state government due to high interest rates on the loan availed by the previous government for KLIP. The then BRS government had borrowed Rs 16,000 crore from REC at high interest for irrigation projects, the irrigation minister said, adding that the Congress government has been facing a big difficulty to repay the loans with high interest rates. In some instances, the government could not repay loans due to paucity of funds and received notices from the REC, Reddy explained. REC, a Central government agency, has recently issued a notice to the state government for not paying the installment amount of Rs 1,393 crore towards loans borrowed by the Kaleshwaram Irrigation Project Corporation Limited (KIPCL) and Telangana State Water Resources Infrastructure Development Corporation (TSWRIDC). The REC also warned that loans availed by both the corporations would be declared NPAs (non-performing assets) if the state government failed to clear the dues. In a letter to Irrigation Secretary Rahul Bojja, REC Executive Director Jithin Kumar stated: 'There is a total overdue of Rs 1,393.65 crore of which Rs 319.74 crore and Rs 292.75 crore are critical dues of TSWRIDC and KIPCL, respectively. If dues are not cleared on or before June 28, it will lead to slippage of both accounts into the NPA category'. Furthermore, Jithin said both the borrower accounts were already classified as Stage-2 category under the Reserve Bank's NPA norms. This delay in serving the dues will have a negative impact on the financial record and rating of the utilities and the state, he remarked. At the time of availing the loan, the state government has agreed to repay the loan amount in monthly installments. Officials said that the REC already expressed serious concerns over the poor condition of the project after three barrages - Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla - suffered damages. The delay in repayment will create more problems, they added. Responding to the Irrigation Minister's plea, the REC CMD said that the Centre will consider the state government's request and provide a relief from the burden of the payment of loans with high interest rates.
