A browse of their website left me thoroughly impressed with their new season collection, enabling me to compile a wish-list of my top picks, each priced under £50. From quilted floral jackets that exude a pricier vibe to eye-catching dresses perfect for spring and summer festivities, the choices were abundant.
Below are my fashion-writer approved selections from Roman that I foresee becoming staples in wardrobes for many years. These universally appealing items are designed to make the wearer feel as fabulous as they look.

This sought-after dress from Roman has us fantasising about holidays on a Greek isle, with numerous customers noting its resemblance to styles featured in Mamma Mia. Crafted from a smooth, woven fabric, this blue and white printed dress offers a chic, spring-ready aesthetic that radiates sophistication, reports the Mirror.
This is the ideal choice for a sun-drenched holiday or simply relaxing at home, offering an effortlessly chic outfit when teamed with tan sandals or fresh white trainers for £42. However, it might not be the best fit for those on the shorter side, as petite or regular skirt lengths are not available.
The fabric can easily be altered to meet your requirements, for those looking for a dress with a similar print that comes in petite, regular or tall sizes, Boden's Marcia Jersey Midi Shirt Dress could be a good option.

The Pink Abstract Print Shirred Waist Maxi Dress has been hailed as 'even more stunning than it looks online' by a five-star reviewer. Its eye-catching print and flowing skirt make it an ideal choice for upcoming spring or summer celebrations, such as weddings.
Customers have praised the dress for its 'not too high' split and 'discreet pockets'. Retailing at under £50, this exquisite piece has left wearers feeling 'like a million dollars'.

Printed jackets are the talk of the town this season, with celebrities and fashion editors alike donning them. This Black Floral Print Cotton Jacket is described as 'gorgeous', and it's also available in pink for those who prefer a more vibrant look. A popper fastening allows it to be worn closed, but we're quite taken with the idea of pairing it open over a plain white tee and light blue denim jeans.
The bold pattern might not appeal to everyone, but the monochrome version ensures it doesn't become overwhelming. For those willing to splurge a bit more, Next offers a similar style with their 'well admired' Ecru/Navy Quilted Embroided Jacket priced at £76.

Doctor Who star's show dropped from UK streaming service confirms ITV launch
More than a year after it was pulled off Paramount Plus, a mystery drama starring Jodie Whittaker is returning to UK screens. A month after it aired in Australia, the series One Night was made available to UK viewers in November 2024. The six-part series followed friends Tess (Jodie), Simone (Nicole da Silva) and Hat (Yael Stone), whose lives have been changed by 'the traumatic events of one night in their hometown twenty years previously'. It was teased of the show: 'One Night is the story of three women whose bond was all but destroyed by the traumatic events of one night 20 years ago. 'Since then, Simone has harboured secret hopes of becoming a novelist but most of her haphazard attempts have been shoved into her bottom drawer. Now, at the age of 40, she has finally written the one story she could never get out of her mind, and her debut manuscript has become an unexpected overnight success. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your show in the link we'll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you. 'But it soon becomes apparent that the devastating story the book tells doesn't exclusively belong to her. At the heart of Simone's novel is a tragedy which also happened to Tess (Jodie Whittaker) and Hat (Yael Stone), her two childhood best friends. 'As it becomes harder to prise fact from fiction, one person's memory and story from another's, the book threatens to derail all their friendships, bringing old traumas to the surface of the small coastal community where they grew up, and stirring its perpetrators, who want to make it all go away.' Despite it being labelled a 'very solid crime drama' by critics, One Night suddenly disappeared from Paramount after just three months. It was explained at the time that this was due to the platform reportedly shifts towards a focus on Hollywood-style content with mass appeal and wider cost-savings efforts. However, ITV has now announced it will be bringing the show back and allowing viewers to tune in again – or for the first time. One Night will now stream in full from Saturday August 16 and will also air that night on ITV1. At the time of its release, The Guardian wrote the following about One Night: 'The overall effect is very much of an Australian Big Little Lies – a female-centred story played out mostly amongst affluent people in shiny clothes and shinier houses.' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'With strong performances and a diverse cast, it demands attention — but its biggest triumph may just be in the conversations it sparks after its watched,' The London Evening Standard shared. 'The show might have benefitted from unspooling its central narrative over fewer episodes because after the halfway mark the drama becomes less character-driven, skating into crime mystery territory. But the acting throughout One Night is incredible,' The Age added. One Night was the first TV role since playing the first female Doctor for Jodie. Reflecting on what drew her to the project, the 41-year-old actress explained that the drama depicted a story about sexual assault in a way that felt 'completely unique' to her. 'What made this completely unique to me and completely engrossing was the change of POV [point of view],' she told Metro. 'Very often it's told from outside in – there's an investigation, there's detectives, there's people working things out. This is about the decimation something like that can have. 'It's also about how the event – whether it happened a minute ago or 20 years ago – is defining for a group of women that it affects, particularly this friendship group. But also what it's about is how we all survive something like that and who owns memory, who has the right to tell stories, and especially if that story is true.' More Trending One Night was created and written by the award-winning Emily Ballou (The Slap, Taboo) and directed by Catherine Millar (The Twelve, The Secrets She Keeps) and Lisa Matthews (Doctor Doctor). It also stars Kat Stewart, George Mason, Erroll Shand, Noni Hazlehurst, Tina Bursill (Doctor Doctor), William Zappa, Damien Strouthos and Jillian Nguyen. One Night is streaming on ITVX from Saturday August 16. It will air that night at 9.30pm on ITV1. View More » A version of this article was originally published on February 5, 2024. Got a story? Amazon Prime's ‘amazing' new crime thriller jumps to top of streaming charts
The Assassin, which was released on Amazon Prime Video last month, has leapt to the top of the platform's streaming charts. The action thriller stars Keeley Hawes as titular assassin Julie, who reunites with her estranged son (Edward, played by Freddie Highmore) after he tracks her down with questions about her past. The pair soon become entangled in a high-octane, high-stakes conspiracy when her past catches up with her. With a huge target on their backs, mother and son are forced to go on the run, in an ambitious plot Metro's own Sabrina Barr describes as 'Mamma Mia combined with Taken.' Released on July 25, the series earned rave reviews for its 'entertaining action' and shocking twists. This has helped The Assassin to fend off heavy hitters like Clarkson's Farm, The Summer I Turned Pretty and Neighbours in the battle of the UK streaming charts. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video As per a report by Flixpatrol, The Assassin has become the most streamed piece of entertainment on Amazon Prime, beating 2023's Barbie and the Eddie Murphy vehicle The Pickup on its journey to supremacy. The Assassin is currently sitting at a 92% 'Fresh' rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, with Empire Magazine praising its 'cutthroat action' and 'cutting' dynamic between its stars. Elsewhere, The Guardian described it as 'so much fun,' while The Telegraph called it 'Mamma Mia! with a sniper rifle.' While the audience score is more divided at 38%, those who enjoyed the show have responded well to its dark sense of humour and explosive action. 'Super fun. If you liked the tourist you'll like this series. Dark quirky humour with lots of action. This isn't for everyone you'll need to be able to think on your feet to enjoy the ride!' wrote Rotten Tomatoes user Kay M. 'This was fun, exciting and thrilling. I wished it lasted longer,' said Yeremiah A. Sas B chimed in: 'I loved this – the acting is amazing, the characters and situations fairly hilarious.. it's a dark comedy! More please!' Speaking on the blend of comedy and action, Freddie told Metro: '[The humour's] not too broad or too silly, but it complements the seriousness of it and gives it a bit of texture and nuance, and also keeps it quite real,' Freddie outlines. 'The characters are all accessible and approachable and definitely make mistakes. Even with Keeley's character, who's incredibly accomplished at what she does, the show doesn't try to make her impossibly perfect. 'I think a part of that is the sense of humour and that British dose of self-deprecation.' Meanwhile, Line of Duty and Finding Alice star Keeley has weighed in on her turn as the titular assassin, describing herself as 'basically the new Tom Cruise.' More Trending Reacting to the description of her character as a 'perimenopausal James Bond' she told The Observer: 'When I saw that line in the script, I howled with laughter. You even glimpse her popping HRT pills. I don't think I've ever seen that in a drama before. Going into the specifics of her action hero training she revealed: 'I had weapons training. There's a scene where I assemble a sniper rifle in a slick way. It's worryingly easy, actually. Even if you put the components of a rifle in front of me now, a year later, I could probably do it quite quickly. It's a bit like riding a bike.' Bonnie Blue sends Ibiza Final Boss cheeky message after girlfriend trouble
Ibiza Final Boss Jack Kay has caught the attention of adult star Bonnie Blue while he parties in Ibiza amid reports that his girlfriend dumped him over his antics. Ibiza Final Boss Jack Kay has flown back out to Ibiza with his mates via private jet and has now attracted the attention of adult star Bonnie Blue. The 26-year-old Geordie became an internet sensation overnight when his Lego-style haircut went viral. Since then he has become a household meme with millions of views, announced his own tour and swapped easyJet for a private plane. Jack flew back to his homeland briefly to get a fresh trim, only to head straight back out to the party island. The lad posted an update on Instagram to his 105k followers as he touched down in Ibiza. Driving a Mercedes G-wagon with his signature shades and Turkey Teeth smile, Jack's pal filmed him fist pumping the air to the music with one hand on the wheel. Jack, also known as 'Ibiza Bob', wrote a cryptic caption, telling fans: "The final boss can't be slayed… your misses on the other hand? Her levels been completed". Bonnie Blue has now weighed in on Jack's overnight success as she appears to be desperate to get his attention. The 26-year-old adult star is known for her rage-bait tactics and visiting party hot spots to find men to sleep with and film for her work, including 'barely legal' teens. Bonnie Blue was seen leaving a cheeky comment underneath Jack's post as she replied with a simple eyes emoji, which is often used as a suggestive way of hinting at something. The controversial sex star has been banned from adult platform OnlyFans after staging a 'petting zoo stunt' which would have seen her "tied down" in a glass box in a house in London, where strangers would come and do "whatever they wanted". In her recent Channel 4 documentary, she bragged: "I am going to be completely helpless, tied down, gagged, choked". She received fierce backlash from critics who claim the 'event' glorifies rape culture and perpetuates dangerous myths around sex. Bonnie's interaction with Jack comes amid reports that the 26-year-old's love life is in trouble. His glamorous girlfriend, Alisha Cook, reportedly dumped him on his first Ibiza trip, just days before he went viral. Jack is said to be fighting to save his relationship with the model and and debt collector from Co Durham.. Alisa was reportedly so angry with her boyfriend for partying in Ibiza that she dumped him before videos of his haircut made him go viral. The pair have allegedly talked things through since but a pal of Jack's warned he was 'skating on thin ice' over his party lifestyle. They told the Daily Mail: "Alisha called it off when Jack went to Ibiza with the lads. They'd been together for almost a year and he was living at her place but things hadn't been right for months. "His car is still on her drive, she threw all his clothes in the back of it. She doesn't want him around anymore. She's had inklings that something was not right for a while. She just wants to wash her hands of him. Alisha is so beautiful. No one is quite sure what she saw in him." However, it appears Alisha had a quick change of heart as she has publicly declared herself as Jack's girlfriend since he rose to fame. In a series of TikTok videos captioned: "POV: ya boyfriend's now known as Ibiza Final Boss," Alisha is seen cosying up to Jack, including clips of him kissing her cheek and the two of them partying together Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! The video has since been made private but social media users did not hold back on their thoughts in the comments. One person wrote: "At least you know he didn't cheat — he's been filmed from every angle on TikTok just having a ball." Another remarked: "Have a word with his barber — I don't know how he leaves the house." A third mockingly wrote: "So was the haircut a choice, or did the barber do him dirty?"
