Heramba Sankashti Chaturthi 2025: Significance
According to Hindu Scriptures, Sankashti Chaturthi holds a special significance as this day is devoted to worship Lord Ganesha.
Devotees observe a fast from dawn to dusk and offer fervent prayers to Lord Ganesha on this day, which is solely dedicated to honoring him. Every Sankasthi Chaturthi has a unique history and tale connected to Ganesha Ji. One of the most affectionate gods is Lord Vinayak, the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
He is also regarded as the first deity to be worshipped, and no puja ritual or auspicious activity is performed without worshiping him first.

Heramba Sankashti Chaturthi 2025: Puja Rituals
1. Get up early and clean your house and the puja room where you are going to set up an altar.
2. Before beginning the puja rituals, take a bath and put on clean clothes.
3. Place the idol of Lord Ganesha on a wooden plank and light a diya with desi cow ghee in front of it.
4. Spread some akshat, place a kalash full of water, and offer sweets (Modaks or laddoo) along with a garland of yellow flowers to adorn the idol.
5. Present bananas, meetha paan, and durva grass because this herb holds a special place in Lord Ganesha's life.
6. To invoke the idol and seek for blessings, recite the Ganesha mantras.
7. Offer Ganpati Ji your sincere prayers and recite the Bindayak Katha.
8. In the evening, pray to Lord Ganesha and recite the Lord Ganesah Aarti.
9. Offer water to the moon god and finish the fasting rituals.
10. Before breaking the fast, offer bhog prasad to the God and then distribute the prasad among family members.

Residents' body flags water, sewer, road issues in meeting with Noida Authority
Noida: The GB Nagar District Development Residents Welfare Association (DDRWA) has urged the Noida Authority to address a slew of civic issues, from erratic water supply and overflowing sewers to damaged roads, encroachments and unauthorised extensions. At a meeting with authority officials, RWA general secretary of blocks C to F, Sector 51 Sanjeev Kumar said residents in the sector had received visibly contaminated water on Tuesday after a four-day disruption last week due to a Ganga water shutdown from Haridwar. "The supply today had moving particles clearly visible in a glass tumbler. The Ganga water line bursts every second day, and at other times it is shut from Haridwar due to silt deposits. Sewers in every sector overflow without checks, and even after complaints, there is no hearing," said Kumar, who is also DDRWA's senior vice-president. DDRWA president N.P. Singh pressed for urgent redress, to which Noida Authority general manager R.P. Singh responded that while the Ganga water issue had been resolved, sewer complaints would be prioritised. NGT seeks DJB report on sewer line work in Sangam Vihar unauthorised colonies
New Delhi: National Green Tribunal has asked Delhi Jal Board to file a report on the current status of the work on laying a sewer line in the unauthorised colony of Sangam Vihar within four weeks. Earlier in April, DJB informed the tribunal that there were a total of 44 unauthorised colonies in Sangam Vihar, of which 33 were on encroached forest land and 11 in non-forest areas. Sewer lines have been laid in 8 of the 11 such colonies. DJB further stated that of the unauthorised colonies in the forested land, 11 were partially in the forest area while 22 colonies were completely in the forest area. A tribunal order then stated that while the issue was related to solid and liquid waste management in these colonies, the tribunal cannot give a seal of approval to the colonies developed in violation of the Forest Conservation Act, 1980, and other relevant environmental enactments. The tribunal also sought an explanation from the Union environment ministry, ministry of housing and urban affairs and Delhi forest department. BMC introduces new vehicles for waste management in Salt Lake & Rajarhat Gopalpur
1 2 Kolkata: The Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday introduced 19 new vehicles of different types to collect and transport the daily generated waste from entire Salt Lake and Rajarhat Gopalpur area to the Dhapa dumping ground. The vehicles procured by BMC include 12 refuse compactors, four cesspool emptiers, two hydraulic hook loaders, and one hydraulic ladder sky lift. These were flagged off by state urban development and municipal affairs department minister Firhad Hakim, Bidhannagar MLA and fire and emergency services department minister Sujit Bose, along with BMC mayor Krishna Chakraborty and other BMC officials. "The chief minister has given me a 'mantra' to have a city free of garbage vats. In Bidhannagar, the process has started with the plan to have mobile compactors in all wards. While the waste is still being transported to Dhapa, it will be soon taken to the Patharghata waste treatment plant once it is set up," Hakim said. "A total of Rs 5.3 crore under the 15th finance tide fund for BMC's solid waste management has been spent to procure the vehicles. We want to have a vat-free clean Bidhannagar," Chakraborty added. Heaps of daily generated garbage and other waste were lately seen piling up in different parts of Salt Lake and Rajarhat as the old waste-carrying trucks were no longer in condition to collect and dispose of the entire daily generated waste. Bidhannagar MLA and fire minister Sujit Bose said that the problems which the civic authorities were facing over waste collecting system was now to be sorted out with the procurement of the new vehicles. BMC MMIC (drainage and waste management) Debraj Chakraborty said that more vehicles are in the process of being procured to cater to all the 41 BMC wards. "The vehicles will be centrally monitored through a GPS system," Chakraborty said. BMC is also in the process of installing display boards on all its vacant plots and water bodies across Salt Lake and Rajarhat Gopalpur, mentioning not to throw waste and garbage at the place, or else the offenders could be penalised in the range from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1 lakh.
