Nainar to undertake ‘yatra' to assembly with poll candidates

Time of India28-05-2025

Madurai:
BJP
state president Nainar Nagenthran on Wednesday told reporters in Madurai that his journey as state president will be defined by a 'yatra' (march) to the state assembly with MLA candidates.
He stated that the BJP, which came second in many constituencies, will clinch victory in 2026.
"Just as how my predecessors took up 'Vel Yatra' and 'En Mann En Makkal Yatra', I will go on a march to the state assembly with MLA candidates. BJP candidates, in many constituencies, already came second in the previous assembly elections. This time, they will go a step further and achieve victory, no doubt," he said.
Nagenthran was in Madurai on Wednesday to take part in the erection of 'muhurta kaal' pole at Amma Thidal near Vandiyur toll gate for the Murugan devotees conference to be organised in Madurai by Hindu Front on June 22.
He said around 5 lakh people are expected to take part in the conference. "It is purely for devotees, in line with what was conducted by the DMK govt in Palani but on a better scale and with real devotees. There is no political motive," he added.
Referring to Udhayanidhi Stalin's statement that DMK is 'not afraid of Modi or ED,' he said reality speaks otherwise. "From when they were in the Congress alliance in 2011, ED raids remain a source of fear for the DMK and deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. CM Stalin also made contradictory statements regarding attending Niti Aayog meeting in Delhi but later met PM Modi too. He should be asked what he spoke with the PM," added Nagenthran.

BJP leaders maximise public outreach with personal touch

Ludhiana: With only a few days left for the West bypoll, senior leaders of the BJP have urged local leaders to make maximum public appearances. Those who were not coming forward for the campaign are now visible in the city. BJP leaders, who prefer door-to-door campaigns, are visiting different areas one by one. Sources said that recently, Punjab prabhari and former CM of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani also asked leaders to meet residents personally. On Friday, Rupani held a meeting with members of the Marwari community to solicit their votes. The party's national general secretary, Tarun Chugh, visited a few leaders and workers who wanted to contest the bypoll but did not get the ticket. BJP's bypoll candidate Jiwan Gupta is also visiting people and holding small public meetings in markets, parks and religious places. Apart from major temples in the West constituency, the party has made a list of gurdwaras where they are meeting people. BJP candidate Jiwan Gupta hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the biggest supporter of Punjab and Punjabiyat. Gupta said that after Independence, Congress or non-BJP parties have been ruling Punjab for about 60 to 65 years, but no one had shown sensitivity towards the state. Gupta reiterated the commitment of the BJP towards development, brotherhood, nationalism, drug eradication and harmony in Punjab. BJP activists protest in Mysuru over Bengaluru stampede

Mysuru: BJP activists protested near Ramaswamy Circle on Friday, condemning the state govt's stance on suspending the Bengaluru police commissioner. Led by Krishnaraja MLA TS Srivatsa, the activists accused the Congress govt of being responsible for the death of 11 RCB fans in the stampede, a day after RCB won its first IPL title. Chanting slogans naming CM Siddaramaiah as A1, deputy CM DK Shivakumar as A2, and home minister G Parameshwara as A3, the protesters demanded the resignation of Siddaramaiah. Srivatsa, addressing the protesters, said officials were held responsible for the Bengaluru incident and suspended, but questioned why there was no action against officials in the Muda scam in which Siddaramaiah was accused. He claimed the CM was misusing power for his benefit and convenience. The protesters accused the CM and Deputy CM of being directly responsible for the loss of 11 precious lives. They argued that the suspension of police officers was like deflecting someone's mistake onto others. City BJP chief L Nagendra, a former MLA, was also present.
