CM has lost control of govt depts, should resign: Ashu

Ludhiana: Congress bypoll candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu claimed that chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had lost control of government departments and should resign. Reacting to allegations of him having arranged the Vigilance summons himself using "his friend," VB SSP Jagatpreet Singh, to gain sympathy, Ashu said, "If that is really true, then don't you think Bhagwant Mann, who is the chief minister and heads the home and Vigilance departments, deserves to resign as he has no control over his own departments?" He added, "Right now the AAP candidate is in third place, and you never know, his fortunes may dip further to fourth place." He also claimed that the AAP candidate confided to his close aides that he had taken an unnecessary plunge into electoral politics. To a question that CM Mann justified the appointment of outsiders at various positions in the Punjab government by saying that talented people from one place can be posted at other places, Ashu asked the CM, "Tell us whether there was ever any appointment of any Punjabi from Punjab in Delhi during the 15 years of AAP rule there." Accusing AAP of exploiting resources of Punjab, Ashu equated the situation with the plunder unleashed during the invasion by Ahmad Shah Abdali. "Their only aim and purpose today is to loot and rob as much as they can, knowing well that their time is up but let it be clear to them that they will be held accountable for each and every penny they looted and robbed from Punjab," he said. Ashu also accused the AAP government of framing rivals. "You implicated people like me in false cases. Just remember that the cycle of justice does take a full turn and everybody will be held accountable," he asserted. Asked to comment on AAP and BJP candidates, Ashu said, "It is for the people of Ludhiana to decide and judge, and I leave it to their judgement by presenting my case in front of them." 'These are Muslim values, these are Canadian values': PM Mark Carney trolled on social media for his Eid message

Mark Carney was slammed on social media for his Eid message. Prime Minister Mark Carney was trolled on X for his speech at an Eid al-Adha celebration hosted by the Muslim Association of Canada. "The message of Eid resonates in this room, across this city, and it should resonate with all Canadians. .. the lessons and values of Eid are the same. Our Canada is a diverse country, proud home to different beliefs, different languages and different cultures. Those are differences that make us unique, and make us strong. We can pray differently but all of us must come together around the values of Eid," Caney said. "The values of community, of generosity and yes, of sacrifice. These are Muslim values, these are Canadian values," the PM said. "Is Canada done for?" a viral post on X commented sharing the video -- triggering a major debate over 'Islamized Canada'. "On Easter he couldn't even speak the name of Jesus Christ and made up some ridiculous notion that the holiday is about celebrating new beginnings (because it's Spring?) and then painted eggs," another post read. Indian-origin journalist Rupa Subramanya condemned the speech and said Islamic values are not Canadian values. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Mai puține griji la pensionare Pensia Facultativă NN Vezi oferta Undo "And there ain't nothing bigoted in saying that," she posted on X. "Canada was not built on the Muslim religion, or for that matter Hinduism or any other Pagan religion, Canada was built on Christianity, French and English built Canada, we are by descent a western European Christian Nation, the values of Canada are not Muslim values or any other religious values," one wrote. "No, Mark Carney. Muslim values are not Canadian values and they will never be and we must not normalize the Jihadist pedo inbred death cult and protect Canada from its expansionism," another wrote.

Srinagar's Jamia Masjid locked on Eid, Mirwaiz detained

SRINAGAR: Srinagar's historic Jamia Masjid was locked and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq placed under house arrest Saturday on Eid-ul-Adha, denying devotees the opportunity to offer prayers and provoking a backlash from many, including CM Omar Abdullah. Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar, which looks after the mosque management, said the gates were closed early Saturday morning and police deployed outside. Mirwaiz and Hurriyat Conference chairman Umar Farooq's family has traditionally led prayers at the mosque for generations. 'It is deeply regrettable that once again, people were not allowed to offer Eid prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid,' Omar said. He expressed helplessness, saying law and order in J&K Union territory fell under the purview of lieutenant governor (LG) Manoj Sinha's administration. 'I have no idea on what grounds such decisions are made,' the CM said. Omar urged the authorities to trust J&K's residents, saying 'these are the same people who, after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, came forward and unequivocally condemned it'. The CM called on 'the govt' to reconsider such actions in the future, alluding probably to the administration of the Centre-appointed LG. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq decried the mosque closure. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 임플란트 최대 할인 지원해드려요 임플란터 더 알아보기 Undo 'Yet again, Kashmir wakes up to the sad reality: no Eid prayers at Eidgah, and Jama Masjid locked down for 7th straight year. I, too, have been detained at my home. In a Muslim-majority region, Muslims are deprived of their fundamental right to pray even on their most important religious occasion celebrated across the world! What a shame on those who rule over us, and on those elected by the people who choose to remain silent as our rights are trampled over, again and again,' the Mirwaiz posted on X. J&K police and home department had not issued any statement on locking of the mosque and Mirwaiz's detention. PDP president and former CM Mehbooba Mufti joined the condemnation, accusing the Omar-led govt of being 'mere spectators'. 'J&K is the only Muslim-majority region in the country, and yet it is here that a major mosque is shut down on Eid, denying people their right to offer prayers. If govt claims everything is normal in J&K, why is the Mirwaiz not allowed to offer prayers,' Mehbooba said. Asked about the restrictions, BJP functionary and J&K Waqf Board chairperson Darkshan Andrabi declined comment. 'Jamia Masjid doesn't come under Waqf Board,' she said.
