Bengals QB Joe Burrow Reveals Major Purchase He Had to Nix After Home Burglary

Yahoo10-07-2025
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was the victim of a home burglary at his Ohio residence back in December while playing against the Dallas Cowboys.
The two-time NFL Comeback Player of the Year opened up about the harrowing ordeal in the Netflix docuseries Quarterback.

The burglary, involving the theft of jewelry and other items, deeply affected Burrow. He understandably felt a significant invasion of privacy. And he was distraught that he had been feeling good with his life, only to have this incident take his mood down a notch or two.
'Of (expletive) course this happened to me right now,' Burrow said. 'When you're on cloud nine, something's gonna bring you right back down. It just felt like the kind of year that it was.'
'I just get uncomfortable when, you know, my life is very public… and, you know, it comes with the job, but… there's certain parts of your life that are, like… yours. Your house is one of those,' he added, according to Fox News. 'When that gets violated, people find out where you live, all these different things.'
Joe Burrow's Home Robbed
Four Chilean nationals were later arrested in the robbery at Joe Burrow's home. The operation was part of a broader pattern of thefts targeting the homes of high-profile athletes.

The alleged criminals were advanced enough to break into a highly secured home of a major athlete, but then stupidly shot themselves in the foot by posing for pictures wearing some of his stolen jewelry.
After the suspects were tracked down, one of the crew tried deleting photos from his cell phone. One such photo showed the gang posing with some of the stolen goods.
In fact, one of the crooks is seen wearing some very specific jewelry – Burrow's iconic '9″ and 'JB9″ necklaces. The police report also indicated the suspects were found with 'an old LSU shirt and Bengals hat.'
Burrow explained that the jewelry wasn't a big deal from his viewpoint.

'They got all my jewelry… but they could have stolen way worse things than that,' he said. 'I'm not going crazy about some jewelry. It was expensive, but… it was all insured.'

Reveals Purchase that Fell Through
The home break-in also led to Joe Burrow having to nix a very public, very major purchase – the Batmobile. No, seriously, we're not kidding.
'I didn't end up getting the Batmobile because I just had other things I wanted to deal with at that point,' he said.
In the premiere episode of HBO's Hard Knocks: In Season with the AFC North, which aired last season, Burrow casually dropped a bombshell during a conversation with teammates Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.

He had bought himself a Batmobile. A real-life Batmobile.
'Have I told you I bought a Batmobile?' Burrow told his teammates during a practice session. 'I don't get it for like a year, but I bought one.'
Not just any Batmobile, but a 'Tumbler' from Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, priced at a cool $2.99 million. The frame is made of Kevlar, carbon fiber, and sheet metal fiberglass. It also features a 6.2L LS3 525 HP engine with a whopping 486 ft-lbs of torque… and of course, a smoke screen delivery system.
Joe Burrow can easily afford the Batmobile. He could buy a whole fleet of Batmobiles. He could probably buy Robin and Catwoman.

He signed a $275 million contract extension in 2023.
For now, however, he appears to have reined in the excessive purchases due to fears of another home robbery.
Burrow delivered a historic performance last season, leading the league with 4,918 passing yards and 43 touchdowns, and earning his second AP Comeback Player of the Year award despite the Bengals missing the playoffs with a 9-8 record.

‘Heartbroken beyond words.' Family of girl killed in sailboat crash speaks out

The family of 13-year-old Erin Ko, who was killed when a barge slammed into a sailboat of summer campers in Biscayne Bay on Monday, thanked the community for its support during what they call an 'unimaginably difficult time.' Erin was among five girls and a camp counselor aboard a 17-foot Hobie Getaway, part of a Miami Yacht Club summer camp program teaching children to sail, when it was hit by a 60-foot barge being pushed by a tugboat. The impact of the crash, which happened around 11 a.m. Monday, caused the boat to capsize. The accident also claimed the life of 7-year-old Mila Yankelevich, the granddaughter of well-known Argentine television producers Cris Morena and Gustavo Yankelevich. Mila and her parents, also prominent in the arts, had moved to South Florida. 'Our lives were forever changed by a devastating accident that took Erin from us far too soon, leaving our family heartbroken beyond words,' the statement read. 'We hold the other victims and their loved ones in our hearts, sharing in the profound sorrow this loss has brought to so many.' READ MORE: We were screaming and screaming.' Witnesses watch as barge hits sailboat of campers The Ko family has asked for privacy as they begin the painful process of grieving and healing. They shared a selection of photos commemorating Erin's life and said they hope, in time, to speak more about who she was and the joy she brought to those around her. Erin attended Colegio San Pedro Nolasco de Vitacura in a province of Santiago until her family moved to South Florida in December. In a statement released Wednesday, the school remembered Erin as a kind, gifted student who 'left an indelible mark' on their community. Erin excelled academically, especially in math, the school noted. She was on the volleyball team and participated in trapeze. 'Her friendliness and personality allowed her to interact with students at different levels, whether through her participation in extracurricular activities or through the family ties that united her with classmates from other classes,' the school wrote. A memorial Mass was held Thursday in Chile, where Erin's former classmates and relatives gathered to remember her. In a video shared by the school, students formed a circle and released white balloons in her honor. 'While she was here, she was a light for us, for our school, ' the Chilean school's elementary school director Francisca Aburto told Miami Herald news partner CBS Miami. 'Erin left a mark that's indelible. So that's very important for us to pass that on. 'For me, I also taught Erin before taking over as principal. I was her teacher in fifth grade, and in sixth grade. It was a wonderful experience…' Erin also had attended Nautilus Middle School in Miami Beach, Local 10 reported. The Miami-Dade school district confirmed Friday she was a student at one of its schools. The collision occurred near Hibiscus and Monument Islands off Miami Beach. Two other campers, ages 8 and 11, were critically injured and rushed to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, officials say. The 19-year-old camp counselor and a 12-year-old girl were treated at the scene. Directors of "Amy Bradley is Missing" say the family of woman who disappeared in 1998 holds onto hope

A new Netflix documentary series is bringing renewed attention to the mysterious disappearance of Amy Bradley, a 23-year-old woman who vanished from a Caribbean cruise ship in 1998 while on vacation with her family. "Amy Bradley is Missing," directed by Ari Mark and Phil Lott, explores the unsolved case that has puzzled investigators for nearly three decades. Bradley disappeared from her family's cruise, leaving behind numerous theories but few concrete answers. "The Amy Bradley story is something if you've been around the genre, you know about it," Mark said. "It's one of the most baffling mysteries of a disappearance case." The case presents multiple scenarios for what may have happened to Bradley. The film floats several theories: she could have accidentally fallen overboard, committed suicide or been the victim of foul play. Investigators have noted that the sliding door to her balcony was found ajar, raising questions about whether she left voluntarily or was taken against her will. Mark and Lott said they were drawn to the story after learning that existing coverage barely scratched the surface of the case. After meeting with Bradley's parents, Ron and Iva Bradley, in Virginia, the directors realized the family deserved justice. "These are people who are living with such pain every single day," Lott said. "It's a very real hope and possibility every single day that they could bring Amy home." The documentary has generated new tips since its Netflix release, though the directors declined to share details publicly. They emphasized the importance of carefully vetting information and involving law enforcement in any potential leads. One challenge in the case has been witnesses who claim to have seen Bradley over the years but didn't come forward until long after her disappearance. The directors said many people don't realize the significance of what they witnessed until later connecting it to Bradley's story through media coverage. "I don't think anyone's going on vacation expecting to walk into the middle of a massive mystery," Lott said. "Amy Bradley is Missing" is currently streaming on Netflix.
