Gas-Powered 2025 Dodge Charger SIXPACK to Arrive in Late 2025
Dodge has confirmed that the highly anticipated gas-powered 2025 Charger SIXPACK will reach dealerships in the second half of 2025, following the all-electric Charger Daytona's launch earlier in the year. The new model marks Dodge's return to internal combustion with the all-new Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six engine, offering up to 550 horsepower.
Both the Daytona and SIXPACK will come standard with all-wheel drive—an evolution from the previous L-platform Charger, which only offered AWD with the Pentastar V6. The new model rides on Stellantis' STLA Large platform and introduces a host of performance-oriented features, including a mechanical limited-slip rear differential, multiple drive modes, and a drift/donut mode that temporarily disables stability control for rear-drive excitement.
The Charger SIXPACK will be available in two power levels: the Standard Output version producing 420 horsepower and the High Output variant delivering 550 horsepower. Power is sent through an eight-speed automatic transmission, specifically the 880RE Gen4, which is built to handle up to 600 lb-ft of torque. While Dodge has not released official pricing, it is expected that the SIXPACK will undercut the starting price of the all-electric Charger Daytona R/T, which currently begins at $59,595 before destination fees.
With the shift away from V8 power, Dodge enthusiasts may have mixed feelings about the new engine's performance. While the Hurricane inline-six offers strong output, it lacks the distinctive sound of the outgoing HEMI V8s. Additionally, weight remains a concern, as early reports suggest the Daytona models are heavier than their predecessors.
Despite these challenges, Dodge is betting on the SIXPACK to reignite demand for the Charger as it transitions into a new era of muscle car performance.

Nevertheless, in more diverse markets around the world, other OEMs are trying to contest Toyota's supremacy. The latest effort comes from Ram; oddly enough, however, it's not bound for the US — yet. Brazilian nightfall The truck you see before you is called the Dakota Nightfall Concept, and it offers a preview of the all-new Ram Dakota midsize pickup set to launch in Brazil and South America for 2026. While this means that it's off-limits for buyers in the United States, the concept is still an intriguing vehicle, and CEO Tim Kuniskis has hinted at more trucks coming to the brand's lineup in the future. In any case, just look at the styling. From the striking grille and illuminated hood intake to the rugged bumpers, fender moldings and tow hooks, it skews a lot like a mini Ram TRX. And the truck doesn't skimp on the equipment, either. In making the Dakota Nightfall Concept, Ram fitted the pickup with real-deal all-terrain upgrades like a front winch, beadlock wheels and underbody protection. Riding on some lifted Fox suspension and 33-inch tires, it's a Tacoma-rivaling off-roader through and through. Dakota pickup precedent Even though it's not slated for a North American release, the return of the Dakota nameplate makes for big news — the truck first hit the market in 1987, and it remained on sale in the United States until it was finally laid to rest in 2011 with Ram branding. Enthusiasts have been calling for the truck's revival for years now, so Stellantis could be testing the nameplate in another market before bringing the pickup back to the United States. It could use a midsize in its lineup to rival the likes of the Toyota Tacoma. That said, given the similarities to other models in the brand's portfolio — like the Peugeot Landtrek — as keenly reported by Carbuzz, it's not likely that this particular version of the Dakota could make for a profitable stateside seller. Regardless, with Kuniskis at the helm, Ram is a brand to be watching in the truck segment. Given the CEO's 25-product announcement plan, his ambitious SRT initiatives and the recently confirmed return of the TRX, there's no telling what's going on behind the scenes. Forbidden fruit While the Nightfall is only a concept, the Ram Dakota is slated for production, and Stellantis has announced that it will be providing more details soon. Stellantis lays off 'small number' of workers in Windsor as company cuts back on EV muscle car
Stellantis is laying off workers at its assembly plant in Windsor, Ont., as the company shifts away from its electric muscle car. "A small number" of workers received layoff notices Friday, according to Stellantis spokesperson LouAnn Gosselin. "The layoffs are based on seniority and are a result of regular volume adjustments at the plant," Gosselin said. The company would not confirm the number of impacted employees. The union representing the plant's workers did not respond to a request for comment. The news comes on the last day of work before the plant's regular summer shutdown. It also comes at a time of heightened anxiety for auto workers in Canada, especially those in Windsor, where the economy relies heavily on the industry. Workers optimistic Employees at the Windsor assembly plant have faced temporary layoffs in recent months as a result of U.S. President Donald Trump's trade war with Canada and levies on the auto sector — though carve-outs for products that comply with CUSMA, the countries' existing trade deal, have softened the blow. The handful of workers who spoke to CBC Friday outside the Windsor assembly plant said they expect workers to be back on the job before long. "Could be a couple weeks," Emanuele Caruana said. "Right now things aren't looking too good, but they're going to be good soon." Dixon Bell described the layoffs as "not good" but said he too believed workers would be brought back eventually. Dave Lumley isn't worried at all, he said, and predicted the workers would be back on the job before Christmas. "It's just temporary," he said. "It's just a small amount. That happens a lot. It comes and goes. It's only 100 people." Lumley attributed the layoffs to changes in Dodge Charger production at the plant. "We have a battery area, and … we're not building batteries," he said. "Everybody wants gas, so they're trying to transition. That's mainly what it is." In May, Stellantis announced that it was postponing production of the Dodge Charger Daytona R/T, the base model of the first-of-their-kind electrified muscle cars, just a year after introducing them with great fanfare. The global automaker has blamed U.S. tariffs for the decision, but the move also followed weak sales amid a dampening EV market. Workers at the Windsor plant assemble both the Chargers and the company's minivan offerings, including the Chrysler Pacifica. Last week, Stellantis unveiled the 2026 Dodge Charger Scat Pack, equipped with an inline-six twin turbo engine, after months of pleading from gear heads to bring back gas-powered versions of the previously popular muscle cars.

Josh Williams Set To Return To Xfinity Series Racing With Optum
Josh Williams is set to return to the Nascar Xfinity Series after parting ways with Kaulig Racing after the 21st race of the 2025 season. Williams will make his return next weekend, when the Xfinity Series competes at Daytona. Optum, an information and technology-enabled health services firm, has partnered with Williams to sponsor the No. 45 car for Alpha Prime Racing in four races. Alloy Employer Services, Williams' longtime partner, will also continue to sponsor his effort. In addition to sponsoring the No. 45 car, Optum is also partnering with Williams to sponsor his well-known hospital tour, in which he visits children's hospitals near each race track. 'It's real important for me to have companies that believe in me, my career, and my dedication to the hospital tour,' Williams said. 'Alloy Employer Services has been behind me for years and having Optum join the program is another reminder that what we're doing matters. This has been a trying time for my family, me and my fans, and the support throughout the garage and my partners has been a bright spot.
