Speaking with ANI, Prashant Kishor said, "There are many people opposing the voter list. Just a year ago, the Lok Sabha elections were held. The Election Commission itself prepared the voter list. The Prime Minister's election took place. What has happened in one year that the entire list needs revision?"
Demanding that the list prepared in the Lok Sabha election to be used during the assembly election, Kishor also questioned whether by revising the list NDA alliance is accepting that the "infiltrators" have been living in Bihar under their tenure.

Speaking about EC citing Article 386 to justify electoral rolls revision, Prashant Kishor said that the article gives the
right to vote
to every Indian citizen above 18 years of age and ECI "cannot deprive him by trapping him in this useless document."

"Article 326 gives the right to vote, that every eligible Indian citizen above the age of eighteen has the fundamental right to vote...We are also saying that every citizen of Bihar above the age of eighteen should have the right to vote in the upcoming elections. You cannot deprive him by trapping him in this useless document," Kishor said.
"The Election Commission has no right to check citizenship...This is the judgment of the Supreme Court. This is beyond the jurisdiction of the Election Commission," he added.
Meanwhile, Election Commission of India (ECI) reaffirmed their commitment to the electors of India, as Bihar's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) saw active participation and made it possible to collect 57.48 per cent of the total Enumeration Forms required for verifying electors of the state ahead of the
Assembly elections
.
"The Election Commission of India was, is and will always be with the electors of India," Chief Election Commissioner of India, Gyanesh Kumar, said in an official statement.
The ECI also reaffirmed the need to keep the electoral rolls untainted, adding, "Pure electoral rolls are inevitable for strengthening democracy."
The poll panel highlighted that around 4.5 crore forms have been collected from a total of around 7.9 crore voters in the state. According to an official statement, 10.52 per cent of the forms, over 83,000, have been collected in the last 24 hours (July 8-9).
The SIR is expected to be completed by July 25, according to the EC.

BR Gavai's candid advice to students: Don't put pressure on family finances to study abroad says CJI
Hyderabad: Chief Justice of India Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai has decried the growing trend of pursuing foreign degrees regardless of the financial position of the student's family. He cautioned students against doing so merely out of peer pressure, while emphasising that an international qualification was not necessarily a marker of excellence. Delivering the convocation address as chief guest at the 22nd Convocation of the NALSAR University of Law here on Saturday, he advised students to go abroad on scholarships without putting their families under financial pressure as it would cost anywhere between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 70 lakh. Addressing law students, he said that instead they could start their office, and, upon achieving stability in the profession, go abroad for studies subsequently. The CJI suggested that the trend of going abroad to study also reflected a lack of confidence in Indian postgraduate legal education and called for greater investment in LLM post-doctoral programmes within the country. He emphasised the need to retain and nurture the best legal minds within India for the benefit of the nation's legal system. The CJI said, 'Our country and the legal system are facing unique challenges. Delays in trials can sometimes go for decades. We have seen cases where someone has been found innocent after spending years in jail as an undertrial. Our best talent can help us resolve the problems that we are facing.' The Chief Justice quoted Jed S Rakoff, a senior federal district judge in the United States in this connection. The American judge in his book, 'Why the Innocent Plead Guilty and the Guilty Go Free: And Other Paradoxes of Our Broken Legal System,' had made the following remark. 'Even though I conclude that our legal system is in bad need of fixing, I remain cautiously optimistic that my fellow (citizens) will rise to the challenge.' This comment of the American judge was quoted by CJI Gavai. At the same time, he acknowledged the isolating nature of the legal profession and the structural barriers that persist within it. Drawing on a study from the United States, he pointed out how legal careers were often shaped by one's starting point—a reality that holds good also in India, where National Law Universities enjoy a perception-based advantage over other institutions, not necessarily due to superior skills but due to structural privilege. Justice Gavai urged graduates to remain grounded in strong legal foundations even as the profession had evolved in response to new global and technological developments. He stressed the crucial role of mentorship in shaping ethical and capable lawyers. Many who study abroad come back with renewed passion and fresh perspectives, but when they return, they often find institutions unwelcoming, under-resourced or closed to new ideas. There are few structured pathways for postdoctoral research, limited funding for early career scholars and opaque hiring processes that discourage even the most committed. 'This must change if we want to keep our best minds or bring them back. We must build nurturing academic environments, offer transparent and merit-based opportunities, and most importantly, restore dignity and purpose to legal research and training in India,' he said. Justice Gavai advised the young passing-out graduates to know that friends, family, books, hobbies, health and imagination were the important things that should be kept intact always.

‘Not for aggression': Shehbaz Sharif denies use of nuclear weapons during India-Pak conflict
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday dismissed the notion of a nuclear exchange during the recent conflict with India, saying his country's nuclear programme was meant for 'peaceful purposes and self-defence'. Recalling the four-day military confrontation, Sharif said 55 Pakistanis were killed during the Indian military strikes. When asked about the possibility of using nuclear weapons, Sharif said, 'Pakistan's nuclear programme is solely for peaceful purposes and national defence, not for aggression.' India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. As part of Operation Sindoor, the Indian armed forces carried out strikes on May 7, targeting nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including Bahawalpur, a known stronghold of the Jaish-e-Mohammad terror outfit. The strikes were in retaliation for the Pahalgam massacre, in which 26 civilians were killed. Sharif denies rumours of Zardari stepping down Sharif also dismissed rumours that Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari may be forced to step down and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir aspired to assume the presidency, Sharif said such claims were 'mere speculations'. 'Field Marshal Asim Munir has never expressed any desire to become the president, nor is there any such plan in the offing,' he told The News on Friday. Sharif added that he, Zardari and Munir shared a relationship built on mutual respect. The clarification followed interior minister Mohsin Naqvi's statement on X on Thursday, in which he denounced the 'malicious campaign' targeting Zardari, Sharif, and Munir. 'We are fully aware of who is behind the malicious campaign,' said Naqvi, who is considered close to the top military leadership. 'I have categorically stated there has been no discussion, nor does any such idea exist, about the president being asked to resign or the COAS aspiring to assume the presidency,' he added. Naqvi also alleged the involvement of hostile foreign elements in fuelling the campaign and said, 'To those involved in this narrative, do whatever you wish in collaboration with hostile foreign agencies. As for us, we will do whatever is necessary to make Pakistan strong again, InshAllah.'
