Emma Raducanu knocked out of Canadian Open in straight sets loss to Amanda Anisimova
Raducanu had won both of their previous meetings but rarely looked like extending that run as she held her serve just once in either set in Montreal.
Anisimova, who made the Wimbledon final in July, came from 40-15 down to break Raducanu's serve in the second game of the match and, although the British No 1 broke back immediately, she was unable to fashion another break point in the contest.
The American broke again to make it 3-1 and added a third break to wrap up the set. Her dominance continued in the second set as Raducanu won just eight points on her own serve, avoiding the whitewash after losing the first five games.
Anisimova served it out to book a place in the fourth round, where she will face 10th seed Elina Svitolina, who stormed past Anna Kalinskaya 6-1 6-1 on Friday night.
The Wimbledon champion Iga Świątek needed little more than an hour to complete a 6-2 6-2 victory over Germany's Eva Lys. Swiatek next faces Denmark's Clara Tauson, who beat Yuliia Starodubtseva 6-3 6-0.
But Jessica Pegula's bid for a third straight Montreal title was ended by World No 386 Anastasija Sevastova.
The Latvian, a former world number 11 who has had lengthy spells out on maternity leave and with a torn ACL, beat the third seed Pegula 3-6 6-4 6-1 to book a date with Naomi Osaka.

Mboko stuns top seed Gauff to reach Canadian Open quarters
Aug 2 (Reuters) - Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko earned the biggest win of her career on Saturday, beating top seed Coco Gauff 6-1 6-4 to reach the quarterfinals of the Canadian Open in Montreal. Mboko dropped her racket and covered her face in disbelief as the packed crowd leapt to their feet after the 18-year-old tournament wild card sealed the victory in just over an hour. "Thank you, you helped me so much," she told the home crowd in French during an on-court interview. She called her first-ever appearance in the quarterfinals of a WTA 1000 event "incredible," especially after toppling reigning French Open champion Gauff. Mboko was helped along the way by her error-prone opponent, who never found her rhythm on serve and failed to convert any of her five break point opportunities. Gauff's sixth double fault set up match point, which Mboko converted when the American's backhand slice drifted into the net. Max Scherzer, Blue Jays hold off Royals
August 2 - Max Scherzer pitched six efficient innings, Davis Schneider had two RBIs, and the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the visiting Kansas City Royals 4-2 on Saturday afternoon.
