Breakfast favorite Ocean Spray reveals first snack flavors in 30 YEARS

Daily Mail12-06-2025
Ocean Spray has released new dried cranberry flavors nearly 30 years after the beloved snack's debut.
The company announced on June 10 that its new Craisin flavors are Sour Blueberry Lemon and Chili Lime.
Sour Blueberry Lemon includes lemon and blueberry notes described as a go-to for when 'taste buds need a wake-up call.'
Its Chili Lime flavor provides a sweet and spicy combination, or as Ocean Spray calls it, 'swicy.'
'Craisins have long been a pantry staple for toppings and mix-ins, but these new flavors are here to redefine how people snack,' said Kelvin Vuong, Head of US Foods and Snacking at Ocean Spray.
Ocean Spray created these flavors to help the Craisin brand's push to expand how fans enjoy dried fruit.
They are currently available at retailers nationwide, including Walmart, for around $3.99 per bag.
In the past two years, the brand has also introduced limited-edition flavors, including S'mores, Blueberry Crisp, and Raspberry Cheesecake Dipped Cranberry Mix.

The company gave users a hint of what turned out to be the Chili Lime flavor on June 3 in an Instagram post.
A commenter mistakenly thought it was 'Ketchup & Mustard' or 'Salchicha,' but multiple fans correctly guessed the flavor and said it sounded 'so good.'
'Tried them at the convention. I couldn't be more excited,' another Instagram user wrote regarding both Craisin flavors.
'Sour blueberry lemon is definitely one tasty little pucker,' another person commented.
Besides the new flavors, Ocean Spray is introducing a refreshed look of its fan-favorite Infused with Cherry Craisins.
These changes and more are part of the company's 'Just Add Cran' campaign. The marketing strategy aims to show consumers that good things will happen when they add cranberry to their lives.
Ocean Spray plans to promote this campaign through digital advertising and influencer content.
A company van will also set off on a cross-country tour across the nation this September to offer fans free Craisin samples.
Founded in 1930 by three farmers looking to create Jellied Cranberry Sauce, the company immediately attracted growers from Wisconsin, Washington, and Oregon.
Ocean Spray was 'changing the dried fruit game' by the 1990s by producing Craisins.
It also surpassed $1 billion in product sales.
It is currently one of the leading producers of cranberries and grows the fruit in other areas outside the US, such as France, Mexico, Chile, and Canada.
As of now, around 700 family farmers grow their cranberries for Ocean Spray.

Zeekr 9X Packs 1,381 HP and the Largest Battery Ever in a PHEV

Two rare Corvette ZR1s were stolen from GM's Bowling Green plant, leading to a high-speed chase that reached 180 mph. Both cars were recovered; one suspect is still on the run. Zeekr, the premium electric vehicle brand under Geely, has officially unveiled its first plug-in hybrid — and it's making a statement in both numbers and ambition. The Zeekr 9X is a full-size flagship SUV with the largest battery ever fitted to a PHEV, at 70 kWh, paired to a hybrid system producing a staggering 1,381 horsepower. It weighs over three metric tons, accelerates like a supercar, and is packed with cutting-edge driver-assist and connectivity tech. Source: Zeekr From the 001 to the 9X Zeekr's rapid growth has been one of the fastest in the EV sector. In 2021, the brand debuted with the Zeekr 001, a long-range electric shooting brake that set the tone for its tech-forward, premium positioning. Just four years later, the 9X expands Zeekr's lineup into the high-performance hybrid space. Built on Geely's new SEA-S platform, the SUV boasts torsional rigidity of 41,600 Nm/degree, air suspension with up to 11 inches of clearance, and a 48V active anti-roll system to keep its considerable mass stable in corners. Performance, Range and Tech Under the skin, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 275 horsepower works alongside three silicon-carbide electric motors. The system's combined output of 1,381 hp gives the 9X a claimed 0–62 mph time of just 3.1 seconds — performance normally reserved for dedicated supercars. Top speed is limited to 149 mph. The 70 kWh CATL Freevoy battery offers 188 miles of electric range on the CLTC cycle, while a smaller 55.1 kWh option will also be available. Thanks to its 900V electrical architecture and 6C charging capability, Zeekr says the larger pack can be recharged from 20–80% in about nine minutes. The cabin is as ambitious as the drivetrain. The 9X debuts Zeekr's ZEEA 3.0 electronics platform, paired with its G-Pilot H9 advanced driver-assistance system. Five LiDAR units, millimeter-wave radar, 13 cameras, and dual Nvidia Thor-U processors with a combined 1,400 TOPS of computing power enable Level 3 autonomous driving features. The system supports automated lane changes, evasive maneuvers, and advanced parking functions. Connectivity is equally strong, with OTA software updates and full integration for both Chinese and global app ecosystems. Source: Zeekr Market Context Zeekr is launching the 9X into one of the most competitive premium SUV markets in the world. China's PHEV segment has been booming, but it's also under pressure from the ongoing EV price war, which has pushed average discounts to record levels and left only a handful of automakers operating profitably. Zeekr's luxury positioning and high-spec engineering help shield it from the most aggressive pricing battles, but margins remain tight. Global Perspective While the 9X is launching first in China, Zeekr's export ambitions are clear. That said, U.S. buyers shouldn't expect to see it in showrooms any time soon. As we've explained in our analysis of why America isn't being overrun by Chinese EVs, tariffs, trade rules, and regulatory hurdles keep most Chinese-built vehicles out of the States. Zeekr will instead focus on domestic demand and select overseas markets where Geely already has a presence. Source: Zeekr The Road Ahead Pre-sales for the 9X begin at the Chengdu Auto Show in August, with deliveries expected in Q3 2025. Pricing is estimated at around CNY 600,000 (roughly $83,500 USD). With its blend of record-breaking battery capacity, ultra-fast charging, extreme performance, and luxury features, the 9X is one of the most technically ambitious plug-in hybrids ever built — and a clear signal that Zeekr intends to compete with the very best in the global premium SUV market. Trump's pick to head Bureau of Labor Statistics walks back his earlier plan to scrap monthly jobs reports

President Donald Trump 's pick to head the Bureau of Labor Statistics, who previously proposed scrapping monthly jobs reports, is now backing off that idea, according to a report. Trump tapped EJ Antoni, the chief economist at the conservative Heritage Foundation, for the role after firing the agency's last commissioner following her release of a poor July jobs report. Antoni proposed suspending the release of the monthly jobs reports in an August 4 Fox Business interview, one week before he was nominated to be the next BLS commissioner. He has since walked back on that proposal, CNN reported. Antoni will continue to issue monthly jobs numbers if confirmed, Heritage Foundation economist Stephen Moore told CNN Tuesday. It's not immediately clear what may have changed his mind. The Independent has reached out to the Heritage Foundation for more information. Moore called Antoni's proposal a 'bad idea' and added the pair discussed the matter. 'He's backed off that,' Moore said. 'We're going to continue to do monthly numbers.' In his Fox Business interview, Antoni slammed the agency for having unreliable data. 'How on earth are businesses supposed to plan – or how is the Fed supposed to conduct monetary policy – when they don't know how many jobs are being added or lost in our economy? It's a serious problem that needs to be fixed immediately," he said. Antoni then suggested releasing data quarterly rather than monthly. "Until it is corrected, the BLS should suspend issuing the monthly job reports but keep publishing the more accurate, though less timely, quarterly data," he continued. Antoni appeared on Fox News days after Trump fired former agency commissioner Erika McEntarfer and criticized the jobs report as inaccurate, which showed the economy added only 73,000 jobs in July. The agency also revised down the reports for May and June, revealing a combined 258,000 fewer jobs than initially reported. The president fumed about the latest figures, even claiming on CNBC's 'Squawk Box' last week that 'the numbers were rigged.' When announcing the nomination on Monday, Trump said in a Truth Social post that he believes Antoni 'will ensure that the Numbers released are HONEST and ACCURATE.' Asked on Tuesday if the Bureau of Labor Statistics will continue to issue monthly reports, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said: 'I believe that is the plan, and that's the hope, and that these monthly reports will be data that the American people can trust.'

CoreWeave revenue beats estimates on AI boom but shares fall on bigger loss

Aug 12 (Reuters) - CoreWeave (CRWV.O), opens new tab easily topped quarterly revenue estimates on Tuesday as the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence tools boosted demand for its cloud services, but a bigger-than-expected net loss sent its shares slumping 10% after the bell. The company currently operates 33 AI data centers across the U.S. and Europe and offers access to backer Nvidia's (NVDA.O), opens new tab chips, which are highly coveted by enterprises to train and run large AI models amid intense competition. CoreWeave reported revenue backlog of $30.1 billion as of end of June, compared with $25.9 billion on March 31. "Demand is humming, but it is the cost of growth that tempered the stock down in aftermarket trading," said Michael Ashley Schulman of Running Point Capital Advisors. Operating expenses jumped to $1.19 billion in the second quarter, from $317.7 million a year earlier. The company posted a net loss of $290.5 million, compared with analysts' average estimate of $190.6 million, according to data compiled by LSEG. "We are scaling rapidly as we look to meet the unprecedented demand for AI," CEO Michael Intrator said in the earnings statement. Investors have also focused on the company's reliance on a few big customers. "The backlog surge to $30B+ suggests demand visibility well beyond 2025, but the concentration in mega-customers like OpenAI means those relationships remain both the crown jewel and the single point of failure," said eMarketer analyst Jeremy Goldman. Meanwhile, CoreWeave executives reiterated the benefits of its $9 billion all-stock deal for crypto miner Core Scientific (CORZ.O), opens new tab. The deal, announced in July, is facing opposition. Core Scientific's largest shareholder, Two Seas Capital, has said it would vote against the sale. CoreWeave reported second-quarter revenue of $1.21 billion, beating estimates of $1.08 billion. The Livingston, New Jersey-based company raised its annual revenue forecast to be between $5.15 billion and $5.35 billion. It had previously projected annual revenue of $4.9 billion to $5.1 billion. Shares of the company, which reaffirmed its annual capital expenditure projection, were trading at $133.71. They have gained nearly three-fold since the IPO in March.
