Nebraska's Memorial Stadium ranked middle of the pack in the Big Ten Conference

USA Today24-07-2025
Where does Nebraska's Memorial Stadium rank among the 18 home venues in the Big Ten? Paul Myerberg recently ranked the Big Ten Stadiums, and the Huskers' home venue ranks No. 8 in the league.
Ohio Stadium, home of the Buckeyes, ranked No. 1 in the conference while Northwestern's Ryan Field brought up the rear, ranked dead last at No. 18.
Nebraska has called Memorial Stadium home since October 13, 1923. The original construction cost $430,000.
Nebraska's Memorial Stadium is best known for its home sellout streak. The Huskers, entering 2025, have sold out 403 games dating back to 1962 and hold a record of 326-77 during the streak.
"A decided lack of success at home in recent years dunks the Cornhuskers down this list. But when Nebraska is playing well, Memorial Stadium provides one of the best home-field advantages in college football."
Nebraska will open the 2025 college football season on Thursday, August 28, when the Huskers face the Cincinnati Bearcats at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. The Huskers open Memorial Stadium in 2025 on September 6 when they host Akron for a 6:30 p.m. CT kickoff.

Steelers defender reveals season-ending injury on social media

The injury news in Pittsburgh keeps coming — and you can't help but feel for Steelers DT Dean Lowry, who took to social media to reveal his season-ending ACL injury. While Lowry was placed on the Reserve/Injured List a few days prior, it was his message on Instagram that caught fans' attention — one of understanding that there are risks required when playing football. "During a training camp practice last week I sustained an ACL injury that will likely end my season," Lowry wrote on Instagram. "Hard to comprehend the thoughts and emotions I have felt since then. Heartbroken I won't get to fully experience the highs and lows of an NFL season with a group I love going to work with. The risks associated with this game and the unique aspect of a football team are what make this sport like no other. I'm completely resolved to turn this negative into a positive with gratitude each step of the way." The nine-year veteran signed with the Steelers back in April 2024 on a two-year deal — providing Pittsburgh with capable, experienced depth on the defensive line. While Lowry tries to find the positives, we at Steelers Wire hope he can bounce back in a major way when recovered next season — potentially earning his way back onto the Steel City roster. See Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman wearing ‘The Shirt' during Wednesday's practice

Loyal to Notre Dame ☘️#GoIrish☘️ Notre Dame head football coach Marcus Freeman is a man of the people, and he showed that during Wednesday's practice. Entering his fourth-year at the helm of the Irish program, the expectations are extremely high for the 39-year old, but he's having fun with it. In a post shared by the official Notre Dame football social media account, you see Freeman wearing this year's version of 'The Shirt.' One of the fans biggest complains over during his tenure has been the inability to purchase some of the Under Armour gear that Freeman wears. Luckily, this time, it's fairly easy to be matching with Notre Dame's head coach. The great part about this is that it shows once again that Freeman understands the culture surrounding the football program. While he didn't play for the Irish, he's fully engrained in the Notre Dame football family.
