Despite a really high price tag ( $2,800 ), the Mate XT actually sold quite well. That's especially surprising considering that, shortly after launch, the phone's price skyrocketed due to shortages. At one point, the tri-fold marvel cost an insanely high $10,000, putting it well past the reach of most consumers and tech enthusiasts.
As such, with the improvements for the successor, the industry is expecting ( translated source ) the Huawei Mate XT 2 to sell a respectable number of units as well. Unless Samsung has something secret in store for the Galaxy G Fold, the Mate XT 2 will become the world's second mass-produced consumer tri-folding smartphone.

The Mate XT 2 has better cameras, an improved user experience, and better performance overall, according to the report. Previous leaks have claimed that the phone will come out around September, and this report also backs that rumor. I wonder whether the release of the iPhone 17 lineup during that month will snatch away the spotlight from Huawei. The aforementioned Galaxy G Fold is said to be a tri-fold that is currently under development by Samsung. It was first expected to be announced at Galaxy Unpacked earlier this month, but was mysteriously missing. A later interview with a Samsung executive confirmed that the company is being cautious, as it doesn't know if there's any demand for such an expensive device.
The Huawei Mate XT 2 will likely follow in the footsteps of its predecessor, and release globally shortly after a domestic launch. Samsung is expected to do the same with the G Fold, which is going to see a very limited and exclusive launch at first in a select few markets. The brand hasn't revealed its launch date yet, but we've received its images and specifications exclusively from a reliable source, telling us what to expect from the WP210 rugged smartphone. The smartphone will run Android 15 out of the box, but we don't know how many years of software support it will receive. It also has a fingerprint reader underneath for biometric authentication. The WP210 will feature four cameras. There will be a 32MP selfie camera (Sony IMX615-AAJH5-C) on the front and a triple camera setup on the rear, which will be a combination of a 108MP primary camera (Samsung S5KHM6SX), a 2MP macro camera (GalaxyCore GC02M1), and a depth unit (GalaxyCore GC032A). The Oukitel WP210 will pack an 8,800 mAh battery with 45W charging support. It will also have 10W reverse wired charging, allowing it to be used as a power bank to charge other devices. Other highlights of the Oukitel WP210 include NFC, IP68 and IP69K ratings, and MIL-STD-810H certification. The smartphone will be 13.7mm thick and weigh 311 g. We are told it will be advertised as "a rugged phone built for fast performance from urban missions to outdoor leisure without the bulk." The Oukitel WP210's target audience includes outdoor workers who value durability, outdoor enthusiasts (hikers, travelers, cyclists) who prefer camera performance and long-lasting battery, and businessmen who want smooth performance and long battery endurance. The Oukitel WP210 will come in red, black, and gray colors. Its launch price will be less than $400 (€345/INR34,880), and it will be available through Oukitel's website starting mid-August and on Amazon by the end of August.

The thing is, this insider is generally very reputable, and there's another tipster backing up the claim of a smaller battery. However, a recent post which listed all of the Galaxy S25 FE specs claimed to have made a typo, and written down '4,500' instead of '4,900'. I would not be surprised if the typo caught on and people began to spread it around as fact. After the new Galaxy S25 Edge, it's very plausible that Samsung might sacrifice battery life for slimmer phones, but it's equally possible that the exact opposite happens. The S25 Edge will directly take on the upcoming new model by Apple, the iPhone 17 Air. I don't think that Samsung needs to sacrifice battery life on other models, and so I wouldn't pout about the S25 FE just yet. For all we know, this leak may be completely wrong, no matter how reliable the source is.

Samsung Galaxy A17 leaked promo materials reveal a chipset twist
A few days ago, renders purportedly depicting Samsung's upcoming Galaxy A17 got leaked, and earlier today we saw it in both 5G and 4G iterations listed by a European retailer, with pricing revealed. Now, even more details about the A17 have been outed, along with new official-looking renders and a ton of promo materials. According to these, the A17 5G will be powered by Samsung's Exynos 1330 SoC, not the 1380 as previously rumored. Samsung Galaxy A17 5G newly leaked renders The phone will come with 128GB of storage and 4/6/8GB of RAM, and one 256GB option with 8GB of RAM. MicroSD cards up to 2TB will be supported. The handset measures 164.4 x 77.9 x 7.5 mm and weighs 192g. It has a 6.7-inch 1080x2340 Super AMOLED screen with a waterdrop notch, 90 Hz refresh rate, 1,100-nit peak brightness, and Gorilla Glass Victus on top, a triple rear camera system (50 MP main with OIS, 5 MP ultrawide, 2 MP macro), a 13 MP selfie camera, and a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 25W wired charging (zero to 50% advertised to take 30 minutes). Color options will be blue, black, and gray. It's IP54 certified for dust and splash resistance, and comes with a promise of 6 major Android updates and 6 years of security patches. Keep in mind, however, that it will be launching with Android 15 on board, so the first one of those six updates will be Android 16. The back is made from glass fiber reinforced polymer, which is advertised as being stronger compared to the "Glastic" on the A16 5G. In the box will be a 25W charger, a USB Type-C cable, a SIM ejection tool, and a Quick Start Guide. Note that the presence of the charger in the box may vary depending on market. Compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy A17 5G is thinner and lighter, has a different chipset, and added OIS to the main camera.
