Young Scooter's Funeral Held In Atlanta, Rapper To Be Buried In South Carolina

Yahoo09-04-2025
Emotions ran deep in Atlanta on Monday (April 7) as family, friends, and fans gathered to mourn the loss of rapper Young Scooter, who tragically died on his 39th birthday. The funeral service, held at Saint Philip AME Church in Atlanta, brought the city together in remembrance of a life that ended far too soon.
Various sources captured poignant scenes from the somber occasion, showing Scooter's casket carried by devastated loved ones as mourners looked on. The ceremony, though heavy with emotion, was also a celebration of the beloved rapper who helped shape Atlanta's sound.
In a symbolic tribute to peace, hope, and freedom, white doves were also released into the sky following the service. To finalize his departure from this world, Young Scooter, neé Kenneth Edward Rashaad Bailey, will be buried in Walterboro, South Carolina, where his journey began.
Scooter's death unfolded after a chaotic and tragic sequence of events that began with a 911 'swatter' call placed by Demi Blanco (born Demetria Spencer), a reality star known from Zeus Network's Baddies. Spencer has since been under public scrutiny for what authorities say was a false report. In her initial call, she claimed to be part of the 'Neighborhood Watch' and reported seeing a 'naked and bloody' woman being assaulted outside a home in Atlanta's Lakewood Heights neighborhood. That call prompted an immediate police response to the home, where Young Scooter had been present.
When officers arrived, they reported seeing Bailey attempt to flee. While trying to scale a wooden fence, he suffered a severe arterial injury to his thigh. The Fulton County Medical Examiner confirmed his cause of death as 'accidental' due to blood loss from that injury. Police have since emphasized they never discharged their firearms or used force. 'While we understand that many people are saddened by his passing, it is important to recognize that Atlanta police officers neither discharged their firearms nor used any force against Mr. Bailey,' the department said in a statement.
Audio from the 911 call later revealed Spencer struggled to provide a clear description of the alleged assailant, and responding officers found no evidence to support her claims. On April 1, Spencer attempted to explain herself during an Instagram Live, saying, 'There's a reaction for every action. This is part A, you guys didn't have part A, you guys only had part B.' She continued, 'In the narrative it looks like I'm trying to set this man up. I'm giving you what led up to the call. I was physically abused, so I called to protect myself. I never had any intentions to get anybody hurt.'
Spencer was arrested for making the false emergency report. She was charged and subsequently released on a $7,500 bond.
The family of Young Scooter released a statement to VIBE expressing their devastation and the need for clarity. 'We are completely devastated by the loss of Kenneth 'Young Scooter' Bailey and are currently still waiting for more information to understand the circumstance,' the statement read. 'Young Scooter was more than just a Hip-Hop artist; he was a phenomenal father and mentor to a lot of Atlanta youth pursuing both sports and music. Scooter was their advocate and support system. He always encouraged his children and the youth to pursue their dreams no matter what.'
The message concluded with: 'The family is grateful for the outpouring of support and love from the city and all over the country. At this time, they are requesting privacy and prayers as they grieve and wait for answers.'

Marcus Morris Sr. breaks silence on fraud charges with NSFW rant

The post Marcus Morris Sr. breaks silence on fraud charges with NSFW rant appeared first on ClutchPoints. Former NBA player Marcus Morris Sr. was arrested in Broward County after authorities in Nevada claimed that he wrote $260,000 worth of bad checks to the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino and the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel and Casino in 2024. Morris was arrested on July 27 and released on July 29. A video surfaced on social media showing that he was denied bond by the judge following the arrest, and that he would have only released Morris for extradition to Nevada. A day later, Morris addressed the situation on his Instagram page. 'The word FRAUD was thrown on my name as if I took something or really wrote a check to a casino in exchange for cash,' Morris wrote. 'Did I take out a marker to gamble yes. Was this my first time no. I've been enjoying my off time and doing what I like every year at some point in Vegas at a high level for years and that's not just gambling. I really thought the amount of money and time I spent there would really have value… 'So yea I took my time to pay back the money that could of been handle on the spot if l'd known that I would have been locked up like I was trying to flee or a flight risk. I was just in Vegas no phone call vist or nothing. Actually gambled and had mansions at both casinos. The Key word I won't except if fraud because this had nothing to do with no money exchange or me not being able to pay something. My Character means everything and my family as well.' Marcus Morris Sr. speaks on being arrested Morris then noted that he had to stay in jail for 51 hours and was on a 24-hour lockdown, which hurt him the most. Nonetheless, he's admitted that he may not have paid his dues back on time, but didn't think they would lock him up because of it. I'm not ducking or hiding from s— and most of you know that about me, Morris continued. 'Check the stats never owed or needed money for anything. So did I go past the time I needed to repay yea probably did, did I know they would locked me up, h— No.' Many will probably be tuned into what more Morris has to say about the situation. Feds investigating case of stolen game-worn Heat gear from Kaseya Center worth ‘millions'

A federal investigation was launched in early 2024 regarding game-worn Miami Heat gear that was stolen from the team's Kaseya Center facilities, mutliple sources confirmed to the Miami Herald. The federal investigation began 18 months ago, with the stolen game-worn Heat memorabilia sold over a multiyear period, according to a source. The stolen items include game-worn gear from high-profile players such as LeBron James, Shaquille O'Neal and Dwyane Wade, among others. Meadowlark Media's Amin Elhassan first reported the news of the investigation on 'The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz' this week. 'There is another federal investigation going on right now about the sale of ill-gotten memorabilia,' Elhassan said on the show. 'This one concerns memorabilia — authenticated memorabilia — stolen from the Miami Heat, and sold for many, many, many, many, many millions of dollars. Perhaps one of the largest heists of this kind. 'What red-flagged it within the memorabilia community is you never see people with this much stuff. You might get a game-worn jersey, but to get a game-worn full set? NBA Finals? For multiple players? As it was described to me, this is one of the largest, if not the largest, memorabilia heists in the history of this country in any sport.' One suspect who has been identified through the ongoing investigation is a retired Miami police officer who went on to work for the NBA's security division, according to a source. Another person of interest is an individual who is from California and might have purchased some of the stolen memorabilia and put it up for auction, the same source said. A source also indicated that the investigation identified an Instagram account that might have been used to help facilitate the sale of some of the stolen memorabilia. That account has since been deleted. The game-worn gear was being stored by the Heat as historical memorabilia that could have been used for the potential creation of a Heat Hall of Fame. When asked for comment, a Heat spokesperson said: 'We cannot comment on an ongoing investigation.' The NBA did not immediately respond to a request for comments. When asked for an incident report, a spokesperson from the Miami Police Department responded: 'This is an FBI investigation.' 'The FBI does not confirm nor deny the existence of an investigation, except in rare circumstances where the public's assistance is requested,' an FBI spokesperson said when contacted about the investigation. The Heat, which is in the middle of its offseason, is scheduled to hold its annual media day on Sept. 29 before opening training camp on Sept. 30 to kick off the 2025-26 season. Miami Herald Staff Writer David J. Neal contributed to this report.

Video: Cruise guest falls over side of infinity pool while reaching for sunglasses

A Royal Caribbean International cruise passenger went over the side of an onboard infinity pool. Video footage shared on social media appears to show the guest leaning over the pool's railing in the Icon of the Seas ship's adults-only Hideaway area on Deck 15. A clip posted on Instagram by the "Only in Florida" account on July 27 appears to show the guest's legs rise up before they flip over the edge. "A guest accidentally fell onto the pool gutter after reaching over to retrieve their sunglasses," Royal Caribbean Group, the cruise line's parent company, told USA TODAY in an emailed statement. "Our crew immediately attended to the guest and fortunately the guest did not experience any injuries." The company did not share any details about the guest's identity. The incident took place during Icon's current cruise, which departed on July 26. The round-trip sailing from Miami includes stops in Mexico, Honduras and the Bahamas, according to CruiseMapper. The incident is not the only one aboard Icon in recent weeks. A crew member was pronounced dead after allegedly jumping overboard after stabbing a fellow employee earlier this month. The victim was in stable condition as of July 25.
